Lyndall Newby

FAIRFIELD - Lyndall L. Newby, 87, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Way Fair Restorium.

She was a member of Mill Shoals Methodist Church.

Surviving are two nieces, Joann Hart of Evansville and Thelma Roy of Springfield, Mo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mill Shoals Methodist Church, the Revs. Jeff Hout and Ron Bogart officiating, with burial in Shrewsbury cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Fairfield.

Gene Masterson

FAIRFIELD - Gene Masterson, 74, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of injuries from and automobile accident in Gibson County, Ind., on May 8.

He owned and operated Gene's Body Shop and was a World War II veteran.

He was a member of North Side Baptist Church and had been ordained as a deacon at the East Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred, a daughter, Marcia Hall of Mount Carmel; a son, Glenn of Glen Carbon; two sisters, Faye Pollard of Fairfield and Ida Belle Smock of Carmi; four brothers, Wilford of Fairfield and Dick, Dan and John, all of Burnt Prairie; and six grandchildren, Jenny and Jason Hall and Grant, Matthew, Morgan and Dalton Masterson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nale's Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Barbara Suits

ELIZABETHTOWN - Barbara Gail Suits, 54, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare of cancer.

She was Baptist.

Surviving are a daughter, Ashley Suits of Elizabethtown; her mother, Mary (Bell) Brazell; and two brothers, Paul Brazell of Jonesboro and Roger Brazell of Rosiclare.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 1:45 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare.

Marion Kent

HARRISBURG - Marion F. Kent, 74, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

He retired as the custodian at Shelter Care.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; his mother, Madge Kent of Lubbock, Texas; a son, John P. of Harrisburg; and two brothers, Ray of Beloit, Wis., and Joseph of Lubbock.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Reed Funeral Chapel, with burial in Ebenezer cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm. Sunday at the funeral home.

Chester Perrott

MOUNT CARMEL - Chester D. Perrott, 82, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Wabash General Hospital.

He retired from Snap-on tools.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of Wabash Valley Car Club and Trinity United Methodist Church and the choir.

Surviving are his wife, Janelle (Porterfield); a stepdaughter, Pat Brock of Albion; two granddaughters, Michele Siebert and Melinda Eads; and four great-grandchildren. His first wife, Marguerite (Orr), died in 1983, and his daughter, Mary Perrott Glenn, and his infant twin brother, Lester, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Highland Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to service time at Short Funeral Home.

Dorothy Hutchinson

NORRIS CITY - Dorothy L. Hutchinson, 78, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Herrin Hospital.

She was a member of Crossroads Bible Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Harrelson of Hurst, Texas, and Peggy J. Denison and Shirley D. Mooney, both of West Frankfort; three sons, Charles Ray of Benton, Donald W. of Carmi and Garry G. of Keller, Texas; a sister, Eathel Yates of Magnolia, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Barney, died in 1990.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stendeback Family Funeral Home, with burial in Old Sharon Church cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Willema Maier

CARMI - Willema W. Maier, 86, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Skilled Care Unit of Cornerstone White County Hospital.

She was a 1932 graduate of Crossville High School and an active member of the White County Republican Women.

Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Barbara Maier of Carmi; a son, Bill of Houston; a sister, Wanda Madding of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Sam Higginson of Nokomis, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Luke and Nathan Maier. Her husband, W. E. 'Bill, - died in 1989.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stokes Chapel cemetery near Crossville. There will be no visitation at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation.

Barbara Fowler

HARRISBURG - Barbara (Brown) Fowler, 60, died May 30, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital of heart failure.

She attended Bible Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Powers of Golconda and Sheila Shabez of Harrisburg; two sons, Rick Johnson of Harrisburg and Steve Wagoner of Galatia; a sister, Lucille Shriner of Manteno; and a brother, Clifford Brown Jr. of Kankakee. Her husband, Lynn Wagoner, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home, with burial in Good Hope cemetery in Herod.

Lena Smith

McLEANSBORO - Lena Beatrice 'Bea' Smith, 94, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at McLeansboro Healthcare Center.

She was a retail store manager. She was Protestant.

Surviving are a niece and nephew.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home, with burial in Ten Mile cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Opal Gaither

ALBION - Opal Gaither, 91, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at her home.

Surviving are a sister, Meryl

McDowell of Albion; a brother, Loren Dalton of Fairfield; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be private, with burial in Locust Grove cemetery in Mount Erie. There will be no visitation at Nale's Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Edwards County Senior Citizens or Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

Ruby Williams

HARRISBURG - Ruby Williams, 79, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

She had been a licensed practical nurse.

Surviving are a daughter, Suellen Brugger of Junction; a son, Roy Alan of Galatia; four grandchildren, Tracey Gosnell, Keri Jo Mays, Denise Brugger and Ryan Alan Williams; and three great-grandchildren.

Her husband, John Leroy, died in 1982.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Reed Funeral Home, with burial in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.

Hazel Lewis

McLEANSBORO - Hazel R. Allen Lewis, 76, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital of sepsis.

She retired from the Hamilton Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Latch Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas.

Surviving are a daughter, Margie Biggerstaff of McLeansboro; a son, Stanley of Gilmer; a brother, Alton Hendrix of Hallsville, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Stanley S. Allen Sr., preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Brush Harbor cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Gholson Funeral Home.
