Grayce Sleezer Carlson of Elgin
Services for Grayce Sleezer Carlson, 86, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin, with the Rev. Thomas Walker officiating.
Born Aug. 30, 1912, in Millbrook, Ill., the daughter of Wallace and Marguerite Breck Sleezer, she passed away Monday, March 1, 1999, at her home.
Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
Mrs. Carlson had been a resident of Elgin since 1953. Before retiring, she had been employed as a secretary, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her sister, Marguerite (Harley) Swanquist of Lagro, Ind.; brother, William W. Sleezer of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bertrand E. Carlson, in 1981; and two brothers, Paul and Charles Sleezer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S.
State St., Elgin, and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Saturday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Elgin; Millbook Methodist Church, Millbrook; or the AmericanCancer Society.

Carl E. Cogdill of Mount Prospect
Services for Carl E. Cogdill, 74, will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (two blocks south of Dundee Road), Wheeling.
Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Louisville, Ky., he died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines. Interment will be private.
Mr. Cogdill was a decorated World War II veteran, having served in the Marine Corps at the Battle of Midway. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6481.
He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Cogdill (nee Johnston); loving father of David Cogdill of Kansasville, Wis., James Cogdill of Mount Prospect, William (Linda) Cogdill of Buffalo Grove, Christopher (Lynn) Cogdill of Elk Grove Village, Patricia (William) Holt of Rochester Hills, Mich., Susan (Donald) Sharko of Oak Lawn, Mary (Stan) Jones of Rolling Meadows and Virginia (Jeff) Banicki of Paddock Lake, Wis.; proud grandfather of 17; and great-grandchildren of two.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with services at 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Veterans Administration.

Hilda M. Doherr of Lake Forest
Services for Hilda M. Doherr, 89, formerly a 29-year resident of Myrtle Beach, S. C., will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville.
Born June 12, 1909, in Hamburg, Mich., she died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Lake Forest Hospital.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach, the Dunes Club and was a resident of Briar Cliffs area. Hilda was one of 20 women selected in 1967 to represent the U. S. Women's Curling Association in a three week competition held in Scotland.
Surviving are her daughters, Marlene (Donald) Rand of Libertyville, Judy (Guy) Lyon of Findlay, Ohio, Bonnie (Donald) Gustafson of Houston, Texas and Terry (James) Hommer of Green Oaks; sister, Hazel Ward of Belmont, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Doherr on April 12, 1989; and grandson, Donald Rand Jr. in 1995.
Friends of the family may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville.
Memorial contributions can be made to either the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe or the charity of your choice, in her memory.

Max A. Douglas of Libertyville
Services for Max A. Douglas, 84, will be held Monday, in Mount Sterling, Ohio.
Born Sept. 29, 1914, in Mount Sterling, he died suddenly Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will be in Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling.
He had been a resident of Mount Sterling for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in the European Theater during World War II and before his retirement, he had been a rural mail carrier in Mount Sterling.
Surviving are his son, James (Sue) Douglas and grandchildren, Chris and Andrea, all of Libertyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Stella Douglas; and wife, Lucille in 1989.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, in his memory.

Lucille M. Eaker of Libertyville
Memorial services for Lucille M. Eaker, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. today, at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, 125 W. Church St., Libertyville. The Rev. Jedediah D. Holdorph II will officiate.
Born Sept. 1, 1920, in Chicago, she passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at her home.
A former resident of Eugene, Ore., and Mundelein, Mrs. Eaker had lived in Libertyville since 1988. She was a member of St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville and a former employee of Marshall Field's at Hawthorn Center in Vernon Hills.
Surviving are her children, Virginia St. Claire and James Burke, both of Libertyville; grandchildren, Marc (Heidi) Lee and Matthew Lee, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Anna Burke and Kristin Burke, both of Libertyville; sister, Ruth Sweeney of Eugene; and brother, Albert (Mary Alice) MacNaul of New Brunsfield, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Burke, in 1980; second husband, John Patrick Eaker, in 1988; and sister, Madge Lee.
Contributions in Mrs. Eaker's memory may be made to a charity of donor's choice.

Olga P. Ellsbury formerly of Batavia
Memorial services for Olga P. Ellsbury, 97, of Aurora, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Aurora.
The Rev. John M. Freidheim will officiate.
Born May 19, 1901, in Germany, to Theodore and Augusta Witt, she passed away Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Countryside Care Centre in Aurora. Interment will be private in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Olga lived in North Dakota until she was about 19 years old and moved with her family to Aurora in 1920. She was united in marriage that same year on Dec. 22 to Walter H. Ellsbury at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Aurora. In 1926 she started work at Iseman Brothers' Garment Factory in Batavia as a seamstress. She was employed there for more than 30 years, during which time the factory became the Fox Valley Garment Company. In 1956, when her husband retired, they returned to North Dakota, residing in Valley City and enjoying a life of fishing, church and social activities. She returned to the Fox Valley area in 1980, after her husband's death.
Olga will be especially remembered for her baking of homemade breads, cooking, gardening and crocheting. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Aurora.
Survivors include her daughter, DuAnn Stevens of North Aurora; granddaughters, Sandra (David) Wilson of Rockford and Karen Stevens of North Aurora; grandson, Dennis Stevens of Wheaton; great-grandchildren, Kirby (Jeanine)Wilson of Ham Lake, Minn., Kari (Scott) Swartz of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Kelli (Todd) Bolen of Israel; great-great-grandchildren, Taylor and Trevor Swartz, Dereck and Kirsten Wilson, and Luke Bolen; sisters, Sophie James of Aurora, Ann Hess of Aurora, Martha Lance of Geneva, Ida Schwabe of Aurora, Frances Renner of Plymouth, Ind., Eunice Anderson of DeWitt, Iowa and Beatrice Meeks of Geneva; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter H. Ellsbury, in 1980; brother, Wallace Witt; and sisters, Alma Layden and Esther Jensen.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 5 N. Root St., Aurora, IL 60505.

Geraldine M. Elwing of Elk Grove Village
Services for Geraldine M. Elwing, 83, will be held at 8 p.m. today, at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence, Norridge.
Born Nov. 26, 1915, she died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
A homemaker, she was the wife of the late Howard Elwing; mother of Dan (Jill) Elwing and Sharon Thomas of Elk Grove Village; grandmother of Jennifer, Elizabeth, Daniel, Michael, Mark and James; and aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to9 p.m. with services at 8 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.

Irene M. Fezekas of Carol Stream
Services for Irene M. Fezekas (nee Frank), 73, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Brust Funeral Home, 415 N. Gary Ave., Carol Stream, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 421 Cochise Ct., Carol Stream.
Born Nov. 16, 1925, in Aurora, she died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at home. Interment will be private.
Survivors include her sons, Arnold (Shelly) Fezekas and Terry Fezekas; daughter, Barbara (Robert) Oberwise; grandchildren, Mark, Robyn (Bob) Stark and David; and great-grandson,Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Frank; and sister, Helen Oros.
Visitation will be from 2 to9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

He was the beloved husband of Judy (nee Goodwin); loving father of Daniel (Kelly), David (Tanja) and Jennifer (Daniel) Schatz; dearest grandfather of Daniel and Stephanie Schatz and Taylor Gajewski; dear brother of John (Loretta) of Omaha, Neb. and the late Jerome; brother-inlaw of Vera Gajewski; fond son-in-law of Dorothy Goodwin; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

William `Bil' John Gearen of Poplar Grove
Funeral services for William `Bil' John Gearen, 32, formerly of Lily Lake, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St., (Route 38), Geneva.
Born Dec. 9, 1966, in Oak Park, the son of Edward T. and Judith A. (nee Sergey) Gearen III, he died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in Virgil Township, Ill.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva.
Mr. Gearen graduated from Central High School in 1985. After graduating from high school, he served in the Navy for three years. Bil served as an assistant director for a number of productions. He was also active in Habitat for Humanity and various AIDS awareness groups. He was employed as a union plumber for Paragon Pools.
He is survived by his parents of St. Charles; brothers, Edward T. (Marvett) Gearen IV of Poplar Grove, Gabriel (Debbie) of St. Charles and Jason (Jennie) of Geneva; sisters, Michelle Gearen of Geneva and Sara Gearen of St. Charles; paternal grandfather, Edward T. Gearen Jr. of Forest Park; maternal grandparents, Rev. John and Helen Sergey of River Grove; nieces, Karissa, Marinee and Nicole Gearen; nephews, Eddie V., Liem and Thomas Gearen; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Gloria Gearen; and uncle, William Gearen.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
