Raymond H. Werner formerly of Palatine
Services for Raymond H. Werner, 69, a resident of McHenry for more than 10 years and formerly of Palatine, will be held at 10:30 a. m. today, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine.
Born July 20, 1929, in Chicago, to William and Hattie (nee Lippert) Werner, he died Monday, April 26, 1999, at his home.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Mr. Werner had worked for Pinkerton Security for 27 years. During that time he had also worked as a lathe operator and grinder at the Hoffman Company in Mundelein for more than 20 years. A veteran, he had served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 911 in Wauconda.
Surviving are his sisters, Dorothy (Raymond) Larsen of Wauconda and Marie(Raymond) Jannusch of Palatine; niece, Shirley Cerer of McHenry; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma Werner, Dec. 23, 1988; sisters, Emma Harting and Florence Finger; and brother, Edward Werner.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a. m. until the time of services at 10:30 a. m. today, at the church.
Memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Algie Woods, 58, of Carpentersville, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999. Arrangements were made by Laird Funeral Home, West Dundee, (847) 836-8770.

David Zaragoza of McHenry
Services for David Zaragoza, 27, will be held at 10:30 a. m. Friday, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., McHenry. The Rev. Roger Schneider will officiate.
Born July 25, 1971, in Chicago, to Aurelio I. and Norma (nee Ramos) Zaragoza, he died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry.
Formerly a resident of DuPageCounty, Mr. Zaragoza had lived in McHenry for two years. He was a 1990 graduate of Glenbard North High School and served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf Conflict. He then worked for the Sony Corporation in Addison in shippingand receiving. Most recently he was employed as an underwriter for West American Mortgage Company.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Zaragoza (nee Davenport), whom he married Feb. 28, 1999, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry; daughter, Rebecca; mother and stepfather, Norma and Greg Sauchuk of McHenry; father and stepmother, Aurelio and Vicky Zaragoza of Chicago; brother, Alex Zaragoza; maternal grandparents, Ismael Ramos of Puerto Rico and Isabel (Raymond) Gonzalez of Crystal Lake; four aunts; four uncles; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7 p. m. today, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry, and from 9:30 a. m. until the time of services at 10:30 a. m. Friday, at the church.

Carl Zeffiro, 71, of Addison, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999. Arrangements were made by Humes Funeral Home, Addison, (630) 628-8808.

Karel Zgrabljic of Mount Prospect
Prayers for Karel Zgrabljic, 78, will be held at 11:15 a. m. Saturday, at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect, followed by a funeral Mass at noon at St. ThomasBecket Church, 1321 Burning Bush Lane, Mount Prospect.
Born June 15, 1920, in Croatia, he died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at his home.
Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Zgrabljic was a retired pipefitter andmember of Pipefitters Local #597.
He is survived by his wife, Sabina; son, Drago (Barbara) Zgrabljic and daughter, Zlatka Pavlovic; and grandchildren, Christopher, Alex and Robert Pavlovic and Karina Zgrabljic.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p. m. Friday, at the funeral home.

James J. Baloun
A funeral Mass for James J. Baloun, 81, will be held on Monday at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Oak Park.
Born July 22, 1917, he died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998.
Mr. Baloun had attended Harrison High School in Chicago. He was a former president of the Cermak Road Chamber of Commerce. After retiring from Guaranteed Electric Furniture & Appliances in Chicago in 1983, he worked with his sons, James Allen and Donald J. in the Palatine CPA practice of James Allen Baloun & Company. A veteran, Mr. Baloun had served in the Navy during World War II. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and also played Windy City Baseball. Jim was a generous and kind friend to allwho knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Adele (nee Konieczny); loving sons, Ronald, Donald (Rose) and James (Holly) Baloun; daughter, Adrienne (Mike) Iavaronne; and grandchildren, Barbara Anne, Betsy Anne, Donny J. and Katie Rose.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p. m. Sunday, at P. M. Smith Funeral Home, 245 Madison St., Oak Park.

Inez Baumgartner formerly of Elgin
Services for Inez Baumgartner, 84, most recently of Montgomery, Ill., will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.
Born July 15, 1914, inElgin, she died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Sun-Rise Hillside Health Care in Yorkville. Private burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
A resident of Elgin for most of her life, Mrs. Baumgartner is survived by her daughter, Mary Baumgartner of Montgomery; sons, Donald (Jan) Baumgartner of Missouri and David (Sang) Baumgartner of Texas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Baumgartner; and brother-in-law, Erwin Baumgartner of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Baumgartner, in 1996; three sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be from 9 a. m. until the time of services Saturday, at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Berens of Hoffman
Estates Prayers for Mary Elizabeth Berens (nee Marshall), 89, will be said at 9:45 a. m. Saturday, at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Mass will follow at 10:30 a. m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Rd., Inverness.
Born July 11, 1909, in Indianapolis, Ind., she died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Governors Park Nursing Center in Barrington. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
A 28-year resident of Hoffman Estates, Mrs. Berens had worked as an elementary school teacher for the Chicago Board of Education for more than 34 years.
Survivors include her sons, Noel Berens of Hoffman Estates, Raymond L. (Mary Patricia) Berens of Elgin, Lee (Jan) Berebs of Elgin and Dennis (Dee) Berens of Schaumburg; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond I. Berens; brother, William Marshall; and sister, Kathleen McMahon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p. m. today, at the funeral home.

Lydia D. Berlin of Wauconda
Memorial services for Lydia D. Berlin, 88, will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich.
Born Jan. 11, 1910, in Russia, she died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Berlin was a longtime resident of the Lake Zurich area and ran a dairy farm with her husband for many years. She was also a longtime member of St. MatthewLutheran Church.
She was the beloved wife of the late Fred Berlin.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

Eric Jeffrey Colon of Waukegan
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eric Jeffrey Colon, 6 months old, will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan.
Born June 13, 1998, in Libertyville, the son of Jeffrey and Lorrie GrovesColon, he died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Interment will follow the services in Ascension Cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he is survived byhis sister, Emily; maternal grandparents, Herman and Sandra Groves of Mundelein; paternal grandmother, Anna Juracan of Waukegan; paternal grandfather, Luis Colon of Puerto Rico; aunts and uncles, Lisa (Todd) Shurtz of Waukegan, Joy Groves of Mundelein, Minerva (Benny) Bones of Park City, Evelyn Valentine of Garden Grove, Calif. and Rene (Angela) Valentine of Beach Park.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p. m. today, at Kristan Funeral Home, P. C., 219W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein.

Ellen A. Cook of Naperville
A memorial service for Ellen A. Cook, 43, will be held at 1 p. m. Saturday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Rev. Dr. Thomas Hanson will officiate.
Born Feb. 16, 1955, in Oak Park, she died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be private.
Miss Cook grew up in Villa Park and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. She was a resident of Naperville for the past 10 years and was employed by Petco of Aurora. Miss Cook was a member of the Villa Park Christian Church. Loving generous and thoughtful to others, she was beloved by family and her many friends. Her five nephews were her pride and joy and they thought of her as their second mother. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Cook of Sister Bay, Wis.; sisters, Cathleen Fields of Eden Prairie, Minn.
and Jennifer (Martin) Welch of Naperville; sister-in-law, Lynn Cook of DeKalb; and nephews, Kevin, Brian and Derek Welch and Russell and Ian Cook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ellen A. Cook Memorial Fund, for the purpose of fostering appreciation of the Arts in Naperville.

Richard S. Costante Sr. of Downers Grove
Services for Richard S. Costante Sr., 63, will begin with prayers at 8:30 a. m. Monday, at Salerno's Galewood Chapels, 1857 N. Harlem Ave., Chicago, and continue with Mass at 9:30 a. m. at St. Giles Church. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia Costante (nee Moreth); devoted father of Michele Ann (Patrick) Rogers, Michael Richard Costante and Richard Severio Costante Jr.; proud grandfather of Anthony Michael; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews; and loving friend to all.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p. m. Sunday, at the funeral chapel.
