Victor F. Shemitis of Island Lake
Services for Victor F. Shemitis, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich.
Born May 14, 1917, in Chicago, he died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
Mr. Shemitis was a resident of Island Lake for 23 years and was formerly of Chicago. A veteran, he had served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Wauconda Moose Lodge #1969.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret Shemitis (nee Stick); loving father of Susan Marie (Larry) Goldberg; proud grandfather of David and Jordan Goldberg; dear brother of the late Charles, Alice, Gertrude, Frank, John, Mary, Margaret and Helen; and fond uncle of Frank, Robert and James.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1440 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607.

Antoinette M. Sikora of Hoffman Estates
Services for Antoinette M. Sikora (nee Dzork), 88, formerly of Calumet City, will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Road), Streamwood/Schaumburg, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
Born Sept. 6, 1910, in Chicago, she died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City.
She was the beloved wife of the late Julian Sikora; loving mother of Jerome (Jan) Sikora of Hoffman Estates and Thomas (Marilyn) Sikora of Arizona; devoted grandmother of Scott Sikora, Tracy (Rob) Van Derkoi and Sherri (Pat) Kearney; and great-grandmother of six.
She was also the dear sister of Ann Joy of Indiana.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Antoinette M. Sikora (nee Dzork), 88, of Hoffman Estates, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Arrangements were made by Countryside Funeral Home, Streamwood, (630) 289-8054.

Evelyn M. Szukala of Mundelein
Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn M. Szukala (nee Brzostowski) will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Santa Maria del Popolo Chapel, 116 N. Lake St. (Route 45), Mundelein.
She died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mrs. Szukala was a devoted member and treasurer of the Friends of Fremont Public Library in Mundelein, anda member of the Widows Outreach Network of Condell Medical Center, where she also volunteered on the Hospitality Committee.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Alan) Johnson of Mundelein and grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Andrew, Paul and Peter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Paul; and sisters, Adele Miron and Roma Brzostowski.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Kristan Funeral Home, P. C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fremont Public Library, 470 N. Lake St., Mundelein, IL 60060.

Casmier J. Twardy of Libertyville
Mass for Casmier J. Twardy, 83, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville.
Born March 3, 1916, in North Chicago, he died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Winchester House in Libertyville. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery.
Mr. Twardy retired after 33 years with Cyclone Fence of Waukegan and from Abbott Laboratories. He was a member of many organizations, including Croatian Fraternal Organization (CFU #75) of Waukegan, Polish National Alliance and St. Jospeh Parish in Libertyville. An Army veteran of World War II, he also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans and the Order of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Amelia (nee Penich); daughter, Denise (Richard) Charts Sr. of Libertyville; his grandchildren, the joys of his life, Richard Charts Jr. and Amelia Charts, both of Libertyville; brothers, Thomas (Mary) Twardy of Pleasant Prairie, Wis. and John (the late Jean) Twardy of Waukegan; sisters, Lottie (the late Walter) Bielen of Waukegan, Stella (the late Ignatz) of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif. and Mary (the late Al) Phipps of Yuca Valley, Calif.; in-laws, Katherine Nemzick of Waukegan, Stanley Jakaitis of Waukegan and Stephanie Daujotas of Papillion, Neb.; special cousin, Victor (Rose) Dietz of Waukegan; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Marie Twardy, in 1954; brothers, William Niemczyk and Stanley Nemzick; and sister, Frances Jakaitis.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Ltd., 101 Park Place, Libertyville.

Walter J. Wierzbicki of Crystal Lake
Services for Walter J. Wierzbicki, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling.
Born July 23, 1923, in New York City, N. Y., he died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Wierzbicki was retired after serving 30 years in the U. S. Navy. He was the commander of American Legion Post General C. Pulaski 86, and a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans and the VFW Fleet Reserve.
He was the dear brother of Victor (Dorothy) Wierzbicki of Jacksonville, Fla.; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; and cherished family friend of Virginia and the late Ernie Stetz and their children.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

John Yates of South Elgin
Funeral services for John Yates, 90, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with the Rev. Corydone E. Friedrich officiating.
Born Nov. 18, 1908, in Pennsylvania, the son of George and Mary Yates, he passed away Friday, March 12, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva.
Mr. Yates was a resident of South Elgin for many years and was president and part owner of the Eastside Tap. He was a veteran, having served in both the Army and Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Yates, whom he married Nov. 17, 1972; stepson, Cole Holderfield of Chicago; two step-grandchildren; one great-stepgrandchild; sister, Nell Veprauskas of Kenosha, Wis.; brothers, William (Eleanor) Yates of Lemont and Raymond Yates of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Julia Yates; son, Peter Yates; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jayne Shover Easter Seal Fund.

Waltraut L. Barnes (nee Scheufler), 65, of Stone Park, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Arrangements were made by Humes Funeral Home, Addison, (630) 628-8808.

John S. Bobo of Des Plaines
Services for John S. Bobo, 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born Jan. 15, 1914, he died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Glenview Terrace Nursing Home. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery.
A retired factory worker, he is survived by his caregiver, Irene Galos; and friends, Stefanie Miszkiewicz and Stanley Szymczak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Masses would be appreciated.

William R. Brodtke of Arlington Heights
Services for William R. Brodtke, 75, will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Chicago, he died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Brodtke had been employed by Zenith Radio and Television for 35 years.
He retired on Sept. 30, 1986. A veteran of the Marines, Mr. Brodtke served during World War II between Jan. 5, 1943 and Dec. 13, 1945. He served in the Illinois Militia prior to entering into active service.
He was the husband of Ruth (nee Hermanson), whom he married Oct. 27, 1956; dearest father of Judy (Richard) Reussow of Greeley, Colo. and the late Wayne Allen Brodtke; dear grandfather of Richie, Cindy and Rob; great-grandfather of Nikki, Ryan, Vince and Bradly; and fond brother of Josephine Briarton of Carpentersville and the late Delbert Noffke.
Visitation will be from 3 p. m until the time of services, today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Jeane Comeau of Naperville
Services for Jeane Comeau, 53, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and proceed to St. Raphael Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.
Born Jan. 3, 1946, in Spencerville, Ohio, she died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Comeau was employed as a banquet bartender at Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. She enjoyed golfing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Bernie; children, Michael-Ann Comeau, John Comeau, Cassie Comeau and Todd Williamson, all of Naperville; and her sister, Patricia Williamson of Oak Park.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 999 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Aldine A. Craven of Itasca
Memorial visitation for Aldine A. Craven (nee Galloni), 70, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca, with prayers being said at 6:30 p.m.
Born Nov. 9, 1928, in Chicago, she died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Interment will be private.
A homemaker, she was the wife of Armond Craven; mother of Jeffery (Melody) Craven, Joanne (Robert) Edwards and Jeanne (Frederic) Clausen; sister of Joseph (Mae) Galloni and Sandra Flynn; grandmother of Jennifer, Thomas, Lori, Jacquelyn, Kimberly, James, Amy and Emily.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research, P. O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148.
