Paul V. DeGroff of Batavia
Visitation for Paul V. DeGroff, 56, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Route 38), Geneva.
Services will be held on Saturday, at Poulson Funeral Home, 401 E. Main St., Benton, Ill.
Born June 22, 1942, in Benton, he passed away Friday, April 2, 1999, at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
Mr. DeGroff had been employed for 27 years by Burgess Norton Manufacturing in Geneva and for the past two years by Midwest Computer Supply in Geneva.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Barbara DeGroff; son, Darren (Lori) DeGroff of St. Charles; daughter, Debbie DeGroff of Batavia; brothers, Ron (Mary) Corbin of West Chicago and John (Karen) Spilman of Mount Vernon, Ill.; sister, La Vera L. Spilman of Benton; a special son, Brent Evernden of Aurora; mother-in-law, Elsie Betine of Batavia; and several nieces and nephews.

Elsie M. Foydl
A memorial Mass for Elsie M. Foydl, formerly of Chicago, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 1999, at St. Ita Church, 5500 N. Broadway, Chicago.
Born in Chicago to Anton and Sophia Foydl, shedied Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Oakton Pavillion in Des Plaines. At her request, her body was donated to medical science.
Prior to her retirement, Ms. Foydl was secretary to the president of Protection Mutual Insurance Company of Park Ridge, where she was employed for nearly 40 years.
She was interested in all sports and was an avid fan andsupporter of the Chicago Cubs for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marie (the late Robert) Niemz; and her brother, Anton (Marjorie) Foydl.
She was the loving aunt of Carole (Michael) Powers, Patricia (Glenn) Obidowicz, Mary Ann (Warren) Langguth and Roberta (John) Hedrick; and fond great-aunt of two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Ita Church or to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Camille Hausser of Arlington Heights
Prayers for Camille Hausser (nee DeCarlo), 88, will be said at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.
Mass will follow at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 432 W. Park, Arlington Heights.
Born April 25, 1910, in Chicago, she died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Church Creek Nursing Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
A resident of Church Creek Nursing Home in Arlington Heights, she was a secretary for the IRS for 22 years.
She was the wife of the late Edgar; mother of Donald (Diane) and Dorene (Fred) Knuefner; grandmother of Lester II (Helga), Kimberly (Natalino)Novielli, Brian (Michelle) Cednick, Edward (Melinda) Hausser, Donald Jr. (Joanna) Hausser and Eric Hausser; great-grandmother of Natalino Jr., Nico, Lester III, Alexandra and Brandon; sister of Joseph (late Ginky) DeCarlo, Genevieve (late Phil) DeMaio, and the late Michael (late Mary) and Raymond (Elaine) DeCarlo; and aunt of many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Bertha Lydia Helms of Lombard
Services for Bertha Lydia Helms (nee Krone), 86, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 106 Church St., Okawville, Ill.
Born Jan. 28, 1913, in Addeville, Ill., she died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Lexington Health Care Center of Lombard. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Okawville.
Mrs. Helms was a longtime resident of Okawville, and since 1996 she resided in Lisle and Lombard. She was a longtime member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Okawville.
Survivors include her son, Lee (Carol) Helms of Naperville; grandchildren, Ronald E. (Mary Ann) Helms of Naperville, Michael L. (Christine) Helms of Marshalltown, Iowa and Cindy (Brian) Naberhaus of Warrenville; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Helms in 1997.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday, at the church.
Arrangements were made by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Walter F. Hintz Jr. of Elgin
Services for Walter F. Hintz Jr., 80, will begin with prayers at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, at O'Conner & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Russo will officiate.
Born July 30, 1918, in Cicero, to Walter and Rose (nee Borkowicz) Hintz Sr., he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Resurrection Hospital, Chicago. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Hintz had retired from the Bell & Howell Company in 1982 after 46 years of service. A veteran, he had served in the Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 1976 in Chicago. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Surviving are his sister, Gertrude Dudek of Elgin; sister-in-law, Ethel Hintz of Chicago; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Leo, Karl, Frank and Roman Hintz; and sister, Harriett Gnewuch.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with a Christian wake service at 6 p.m.

Andrew K. Johnson of Elgin
Services for Andrew K. Johnson, 34, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Community Center Church of God in Christ. Rev. Dennis Hill will officiate.
Born July 7, 1964, in Elgin, the son of Rev. Andrew II and Jean Johnson, he died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church of Batavia and employed by School District U46 as a teacher's assistant at Bartlett Elementary School.
Survivors include his father, Andrew II (Sattaglia) Johnson of South Elgin; brothers, LaVan Johnson of Aurora, Jeremy (Sherita) Johnson of Elgin, Brandon (Stacie) Johnson of Romeoville, Aaron Johnson of South Elgin and Tony Blake of Racine, Wis.; sisters, Joy Johnson of Aurora, Andrea Johnson of Elgin and Ashley Johnson Burks of South Elgin; stepbrother, Terrence Woods of South Elgin; stepsister, Satteria Woods of South Elgin; stepsons, Elija Banks of Elgin, Justin Banks of Elgin and Leon Banks of Elgin; stepdaughter, Tempest Rogue of Elgin; and paternal grandmother, Juanita Burks of Kosciusko, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean Johnson on June 9, 1995; brother, Jedidiah Johnson in 1973; maternal grandparents, Rev. Leonard R. and Mildred Spates; and paternal grandfather, Andrew L. Johnson I.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Monday, at the church.

Patricia E. `Pat' Joswick of Plainfield
Services for Patricia E. `Pat' Joswick (nee Plankers), 55, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division St., Plainfield.
Born Feb. 7, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wis., she died Friday, April 2, 1999, at home.
Interment will be in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.
Mrs. Joswick was born and raised in Milwaukee. She graduated from Pius XI High School and the Milwaukee County School of Nursing. After marrying, she and her husband, James, moved to Joliet where she worked for many years as a registered nurse at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. She moved to Plainfield in 1977.
Mrs. Joswick was a former parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Joliet, and currently was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield.
Most of all, she dedicated her life to her family.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, James M. Joswick of Plainfield, whom she married June 4, 1966; son, Douglas (Lisa Nowak) Joswick of Plainfield; mother, Esther Plankers of Milwaukee; brother, James (Dana) Plankers; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Plankers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Joseph A. Leo of Buffalo Grove
Prayers for Joseph A. Leo, 73, will be said at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (two blocks south of Dundee Rd.) ,Wheeling. Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Buffalo Grove.
Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Chicago, he died Saturday, April3, 1999, at home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
A retired glazer, he was the husband of Catherine (nee Scopa); father of Donald T. (Lucy) Leo of Round Lake Beach and Linda Ramsey of Buffalo Grove; brother of the late Charles (late Minnie) Leo and Josephine Esposito; and grandfather of Tony Leo and Angie Leo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Leonard Malicki of Wheeling
Prayers for Leonard Malicki, 85, will be said at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (two blocks south of Dundee Rd.) ,Wheeling. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Wheeling.
Born March 29, 1914, in Chicago, he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Holy Family Hospital. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
A 44-year resident of Wheeling, Mr. Malicki was a retired CTA bus driver. He was a member of Amalgamated Union #241, VFW Post Indian Portage and a Marine veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (nee Bill); children, Paul (Laurene), Kirk (Agnes) and Scott (Linda) Malicki and Marabeth (Sherman) Bucher; brothers, Andrew (Katherine) and Edward (Doris) Malicki; sister, Leora (Oliver) Buchholz; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Czepek.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Lillian M. Mallach of Schaumburg
Services for Lillian M. Hallach (nee Marasco), 82, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, at Michael's Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg.
Born March 1, 1917, in Chicago, she died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights. Burial will be private.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence J.; mother of Laurelee (late Donald) Daniels of Irving, Texas and Lawrence J. (Sallie) of Schaumburg; sister of Roy (Marge) Marasco, Richard (June) Marasco, Dolores Frank and Ronald (Shirley) Marasco; grandmother of Donna (Tim) Jump, Leanne (David) Hardin, Donald (Julie) Daniels, Larry (Sue Ellen) Mallach, Jeff(Jenice) Daniels, Elizabeth (Allen) Ruttenberg and Amy (Doug) Weincouff; and great-grandmother of nine.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Monday, at the funeral home.
