Valerie M. Martin of Wheeling
A funeral Mass for Valerie M. Martin (nee Becker), 97, formerly of Mount Prospect, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Addolorata Villa, 555 McHenry Road, Wheeling.
Born April 1,1901, in Germany, she died Monday, March 29, 1999, at Addolorata Villa. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ellsworth Martin; loving mother of James (Rosemary) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary (Patrick) McCloskey of Mount Prospect, Madeline (Roland) White of Lincolnshire and Eileen Martin ofChula Vista, Calif.; cherished grandmother of 15; and great-grandmother of 16.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Addolorata Villa.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Coletta Schoolfor the Handicapped, W4955 Route 18, Jefferson, WI 53549, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling.

Jean E. Mason of Lombard
Funeral services for Jean E. Mason, 80, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main St., Lombard. Rev. Harry Williams will officiate.
Mr. Mason diedFriday, April 2, 1999, at Lexington Health Care, Lombard. Interment will be in Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Mason was a resident of Lombard since 1966. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, received his BS in education at Millikin University in Decatur in 1946 and his MS from the University of Illinois inChampaign in 1951. He was a teacher and football coach at Addison Trail High School from 1966 until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Mason was a member of the Illinois Teachers Association and a volunteer at the Lombard Food Pantry. He had played football in high school, college and for the U. S. Navy Center. He was part of the 1942 undefeated Millikin football team.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine D. (nee Daigh); son, Jon; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Masonof Vero Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Thomas Leo McCoy of Aurora
Services for Thomas Leo McCoy, 59, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville, and continue with Mass at 12:30 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dixon, Ill.
Born Dec. 3, 1939, in Amboy, Ill., he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon.
Mr. McCoy was a 1957 graduate of Newman Catholic High School in Sterling, Ill. In 1959 he began his career at United Parcel Service in Joliet as a package delivery driver. Through the years he was promoted to supervisor and then to division manager for operations and was instrumental in opening the Palatine facility. For the last five years prior to his retirement in July 1995,he held the position of district labor relations manager for central Illinois.
As a resident of Oak Forest, Roselle and Aurora, he was a member and sometimes president of homeowners associations, was an active member of the Jaycees, and participated in various other community causes and events.
Surviving are his wife, Corinne E. McCoy (nee Harvey) of Aurora; sons, Mark Thomas (Diana) McCoy and Michael Edwin (Kelly) McCoy, both of Aurora; and grandchildren, Alexa, Jaclyn, Danielle, Shaun, Ember and Tracey, also of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwinand Catherine (nee Blackburn) McCoy; brother, Robert McCoy; and sister, Ann Gerdes.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials in Mr. McCoy's name may be made to the Lurie Center, Northwestern University, 710 N. Fairbanks Court, Chicago, IL 60611.

Thomas J. Mitchell of Algonquin Prayers for Thomas J. Mitchell, 58, formerly of Elgin and Burlington,will be said at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (corner of south Third and Oregon Sts.) ,West Dundee. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St.
Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin.
Rev. Richard Russo will officiate.
Born March 1, 1941, in Chicago, the son of John and Pauline Conino Mitchell, he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at the home of his son in Lake In The Hills, following a lengthy illness that included a liver transplant on July 1, 1984. Burial will be private.
He had been a resident of the area for many years. He was a self employed horseshoer in the Burlington area and then employed by Mitchell Sales. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, a eucharistic minister for the church and formed the Share Food Program at the church. He also organized the Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops in Burlington.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria Marie Rundquist Mitchell; sons,Andrew of Montgomery, David of Henderson, Nev. and Scott of Lake In The Hills; and sister, Joan (Denis) Bieleck ofOregon, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation celebrating his life will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with prayers for the christian wake recited at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Liver Foundation.

Patrick H. O'Mara of Naperville since 1964
A memorial service for Patrick H. O'Mara, 73, formerly of West Chicago, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville.
Born Dec. 26, 1925, in Emporia, Kansas, he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at his home.
Interment will be private.
Mr. O'Mara received his BA from Emporia State University in 1948 and his MA from Northern Colorado University in 1953. He was involved with school administration as well as teaching for many years in the public school systems in Illinois, Kansas, Colorado and California. He worked in sales for Marshall Field's from 1975 to 1991. Mr. O'Mara was a history buff and enjoyed historical books as well as gardening, drawing and painting.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee O'Mara (nee Holland) of Naperville; son, Kyle Patrick (Rachel) O'Mara of Aurora; daughter, Leanne (Kirk) Sagert of Dewitt, Mich.; sisters, Elsie Flott of Emporia, Kansas and Ann Morrow of Madison, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann O'Mara of Santa Clara, Calif., Inez O'Mara of Emporia, Kansas and Mildred O'Mara of Emporia, Kansas; and grandson, Dylan Patrick O'Mara.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Emma (nee Michelfelder) O'Mara; three brothers, Wilbur, Harold and Michael O'Mara; and two sisters, Mary O'Mara and Rosine Groce.

Virginia E. Patzer of Rolling Meadows
Funeral Mass for Virginia E. Patzer, 75, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Colette Church.
Born Nov. 12, 1923, in Chicago, she died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Palatine.
Mrs. Patzer was a retired loving nurse with over 25 years of service. She had worked at Loretta Hospital and taught at St. Ann's Hospital in Chicago.
She was the wife of Arthur F. Patzer; mother of Lynn A. (Martin) Arenberg, Brian A. (Lisa) Patzer and Renee A. (Michael) Brychel; grandmother of Christine, Kyle and Kevin Arenberg, Bradley and Nicholas Patzer, and Hallie and Jackson Brychel; and sister of Audrey (Joseph) Jay.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows.

Dorothy A. Peterson of Carol Stream
Memorial services for Dorothy A. Peterson (nee Waggoner), 73, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 965 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
Born Aug. 1, 1925, in Clearwater, Kan., she passed away Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Central DuPage Hospital, following a brief, but fierce battle with cancer.
Mrs. Peterson was retired from United Airlines Credit Union.
Dottie was a loving mother. Her kindness and generosity were enjoyed by all her family and relatives. She was a loyal friend who showed her caring in many ways - always looking out for others and ready to help. Dottie was a devoted grandmother, especially to Heather. She will be greatly missed.
She was the wife of the late Carl H., he passed away in 1970; beloved motherof Carl (Lianne) of Victoria, B. C., Canada, Sandy of Decatur, Ill. and Lisa of Carol Stream; daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Waggoner; sister of Edward Waggoner of Santa Maria, Calif.; and grandmother of Karen and David Peterson of Victoria, B. C., Canada and Heather Dickie of Carol Stream.

Esther M. Schnurstein 10-year resident of Elmhurst
Funeral services for Esther M. Schnurstein, 87, formerly a longtime resident of Forest Park, will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York Road, Elmhurst, and continue to Immaculate Conception Church for a 10 a.m. Mass.
She passed away Friday, April 2, 1999.
Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harry F.; loving mother of William F. (the late Janet) Schnurstein; and proud grandmother of Kenneth and Kevin Schnurstein.

She was the wife of the late Herbert; mother of Lorraine Dona (Thomas) Palma of Hoffman Estates and the late Jacqueline (William) Gruendeman of Hoffman Estates; grandmother of Thomas J. (Kathy) Palma, Kathleen Barrile, Joseph J. (Denise) Palma, Gary (Thea) Gruendeman, Denise (Joseph) Leise and Gina (Marc) Gordon; and great-grandmother of Frank, Tommy, Amy, Katherine, Ryan, Jennifer, Genna and Kyle.

Charles J. `Jerry' Terrell of Palatine

He was a consultant for Nakano Foods, Inc. of Mount Prospect.
He is survived by his mother, Evonne; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grant.
