Bertha Lydia Helms of Lombard
Services for Bertha Lydia Helms (nee Krone), 86, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Peters United Church of Christ, 106 Church St., Okawville, Ill.
Born Jan. 28, 1913, in Addeville, Ill., she died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Lexington Health Care Center of Lombard. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Okawville.
Mrs. Helms was a longtime resident of Okawville, and since 1996 she resided in Lisle and Lombard. She was a longtime member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Okawville.
Survivors include her son, Lee (Carol) Helms of Naperville; grandchildren, Ronald E. (Mary Ann) Helms of Naperville, Michael L. (Christine) Helms of Marshalltown, Iowa and Cindy (Brian) Naberhaus of Warrenville; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Helms in 1997.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday, at the church.
Arrangements were made by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Walter F. Hintz Jr. of Elgin
Services for Walter F. Hintz Jr., 80, will begin with prayers at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, at O'Conner & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Russo will officiate.
Born July 30, 1918, in Cicero, to Walter and Rose (nee Borkowicz) Hintz Sr., he died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Resurrection Hospital, Chicago. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Hintz had retired from the Bell & Howell Company in 1982 after 46 years of service. A veteran, he had served in the Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 1976 in Chicago. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Surviving are his sister, Gertrude Dudek of Elgin; sister-in-law, Ethel Hintz of Chicago; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and greatgreat-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward, Leo, Karl, Frank and Roman Hintz; and sister, Harriett Gnewuch.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home, with a Christian wake service at 6 p.m.

Nils Andrew Johnson of Schaumburg
Services for Nils Andrew Johnson, 20, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg, where he will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Born Nov. 21, 1978, in Park Ridge, he died Saturday, April 3, 1999. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Nils had been employed as a banquet chef for Maggiano's Restaurant in Schaumburg and was recently named employee of the month. He was a 1997 graduate of Schaumburg High School and was a member of the Schaumburg Kings, the Saxons, and the Crystal Lake and Gustavus Adolphus College hockey teams.
He had attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., where he had been the recipient of the Norelius Service Award. Currently he was attending Harper College and was planning on studying at the Culinary Institute of America.
Surviving are his parents, Pamela and Ross Johnson; brothers, Karl Erik (Lisa) and Lars Alan Johnson; grandparents, Dolores andMaurice Hopwood and Helen Johnson; uncles and aunts, Wayne (Arlene) Johnson, Thomas (Jan) Hopwood, Nancy Black, Debra (Rod) LaRue and James (Stacy) Hopwood; and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg.
Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics, Area 18, 3000 W. Central Road, Suite 205, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008, or to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Edward C. Johnson of Mettawa
Services for Edward C. Johnson, 73, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the family residence, 15151 W. Highway 60 (7/10 mile east of Route 21).
Born Sept. 17, 1925, in Chicago, he passed away Saturday, April 3, 1999, at his home.
A Mettawa resident for the past 27 years, Mr. Johnson was the owner of Roughneck Concrete Drilling & Sawing Company in Morton Grove and of the Mettawa Tree Farm and Roughneck Ranch, located by his home. He was a Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Johnson (nee Nazat); children, Karen Johnson of Glenview, Kurt (Rachel) Johnson of Lake in the Hills, Jill (Charles) Grant of Rocky Mount, N. C., and Erik Johnson of Grayslake; brother, Robert Johnson of Fox Lake, Wis.; and sister, Lois (Tom) Rathmann of Twin Lakes, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ella Johnson; son, Michael Johnson, in 1982; and brother, Arnold Johnson.
Friends of the family may call at the family residence on Tuesday, where he will lie in state from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Irving Park YMCA, 4251 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60641.

Frances Delores Johnson of Park Ridge
Services for Frances Delores Johnson (nee Bush), 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Park Ridge Community Church.
Born Feb. 1, 1911, in Whitehall, Mich., she died Friday, April 2, 1999, at home.
Interment will be private.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Johnson had worked for Russell K. Ephland, an orthodontist, for 30 years. She was a member of the Slowpokes Square Dance Club and the Merry Married Dance Club, and was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was the beloved mother of Bonnie Lee Schildgen of Palatine and Cherrie Gay Wickstrom of Park Ridge; loving grandmother of Stephen Schildgen, Scott Schildgen, Nancy (Michael) Kramer, Matthew Wickstrom and Amy (Steven) Ivy; and great-grandmother of five. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Rufus Holbrook.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to the AntiCruelty Society.

Eleanor F. Kelley of Gurnee
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor F. Kelley, 73, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan.
Born Sept. 27, 1925 in North Chicago, she died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan.
Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, following the Mass.
A resident of Gurnee for the past 37 years, Mrs. Kelley had retired in 1994 from Luxorin Gurnee after 28 years of service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan and the Altar and Rosary Society of the parish. Among her other interests, she was a member of the Shamrock Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Waukegan Moose, the Golden Antlers Senior Club, the Senior Spirit Club, the St. Therese Hospital Auxiliary, the Catholic Women's Club of Lake County and the Waukegan American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Jack Kelley; sons, Joel (Sandy) Kelley of Antioch, Kevin (Carol) Kelley of Silt, Colo., and Timothy (Jacqueline) Kelley of Kenosha, Wis.; grandchildren, Jason (Janet), Kyle, Emaline, Patrick and Brendan Kelley; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Julia and Jonathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Frances Rode; brother, Donald Rode; and sister-in-law, Mary Alice Rode.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, at Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.
Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Therese Hospital Auxiliary.

Ronald C. Koley Sr. formerly of Batavia
Graveside services for Ronald C. Koley Sr., 64, of Aromas, Calif., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia. The Rev. Scott Capp will officiate.
Born May 6, 1934, in Aurora, to Nicholas J. and Frances M. (nee Opperman) Koley, he passed away Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Koley had been a tool and die maker for more than 30 years prior to his recent retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Koley; sons, Ronald, Patrick and Scott Koley, all of Phoenix, Ariz., and Frederick(Marie) Koley of St. Charles; daughters, Lorie Koley of Aurora, Leerae Sowers of Wedron, Ill., and Nikki (Mike) Lockwood of Rockford; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Sam) Cansino of Aurora; brother, James (Sandra) Koley of Batavia; and several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Kathy (Roger) Bryant of Batavia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Ann Koley.

Bernadine Lange of Elgin
Services for Bernadine Lange (nee McIntire), 91, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. The Rev. Michael Frantz will officiate.
Born Dec. 20, 1907, in Pittsfield, Ill., she passed away Saturday, April 2, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Bernadine came to Elgin in the early 1930s and, with the exception of 10 years in Woodstock, had made Elgin her home.
She was very active in the Elgin community, including serving on the boards of the Salvation Army, Judson College, the Larkin Home, and Sunset Manor in Woodstock. She was also a member of the Perry Literary Guild, for which she gave numerous book review programs.
Previously, from 1953 to 1956, Bernadine had volunteered for the Girl Scouts of Elgin, and from 1954 to 1956 had served as the head of volunteer services for the Elgin State Hospital. In addition to her civic activities, Bernadine was particularly supportive of, and active in,several churches during her life -- Immanuel Baptist, First United Methodist Church of Woodstock, and First Baptist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughters, Beverly (Alvin) McRae of Lake Forest and Nancy (Phillip) Rooker of Elgin; son, Herbert (Chris) Lange of Elgin; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene A. Way, in 1953; second husband, Herbert W. Lange, in 1992; and one brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to First Baptist Church of Elgin.

Anne Mae C. Lowe of Elk Grove Village
Funeral services for Anne Mae C. Lowe (nee Kovitz), 89, formerly a 50-year resident of Berwyn, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village.
Born in McKeesport, Pa., she died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at ManorCare Nursing Home. Interment will be in Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Lowe was employed for 30 years by Illinois Central Railroad and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest L. Lowe; loving mother of Robert J. (Sharon) Lowe and Patricia (the late Adam) Ozburn; cherished grandmother of Dawn (John) Dunsmore, Marcey (Norman) Geils, Susan (Gerald) Gawinski, David (Diane) Lowe, James Lowe and Diane (Timothy) Crum; and great-grandmother of Kristen Lowe, Michael Gawinski, John and Jason Geils and Allison and Jessica Crum.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.

Lillian M. Mallach of Schaumburg
Services for Lillian M. Hallach (nee Marasco), 82, will be held at 7 p.m. today, at Michael's Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg.
Born March 1, 1917, in Chicago, she died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights. Burial will be private.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence J.; mother of Laurelee (late Donald) Daniels of Irving, Texas and Lawrence J. (Sallie) of Schaumburg; sister of Roy (Marge) Marasco, Richard (June) Marasco, Dolores Frank and Ronald (Shirley) Marasco; grandmother of Donna (Tim) Jump, Leanne (David) Hardin, Donald (Julie) Daniels, Larry (Sue Ellen) Mallach, Jeff (Jenice) Daniels, Elizabeth (Allen) Ruttenberg and Amy (Doug) Weincouff; and great-grandmother of nine.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the services today, at the funeral home.
