Services for Eileen M. La Spina (nee Ewald), 62, formerly of Bensenville, will begin with chapel prayers, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at Queen of the Rosary Church.
Born in Chicago, she died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at her home. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
She was the beloved wife of Angelo J. La Spina; cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (nee Donnelly) Ewald; dear sister of James O. (Mary) Ewald, Thomas C. (Mildred) Ewald Jr., and Alice K. (Raymond) De Silvia; and caring aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral chapel.

Charles J. `Jerry' Terrell of Palatine

He was preceded in death by his father, Grant.

Otto Turunen of Waukegan
Services for Otto Turunen, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.
Born Dec. 20, 1917, in Negaunee, Mich., he died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, after a long illness. Interment will be private.
A resident of Waukegan for the past 47 years, Mr. Turunen had worked as an electrician for Metric Electric and had been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 150 prior to his retirement. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion in Rock, Mich. He was also a member of United Trinity Lutheran Church of Waukegan.
Surviving are his wife, Erma Turunen (nee Norden); son, Dwain (Charlene) Turunen of Beach Park; daughters, Kris Breen of Zion and Sue (Steve) Bolton of Wilmot, Wis.; and grandchildren, Sheila and Alyssa Turunen, Carly and Megan Breen, and Sara, Stacy and Kelly Bolton.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Taimi Toika, and grandson, Bobby Breen in 1990.

Alice E. Woodward of Wheaton
Memorial services for Alice E. Woodward will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 Carlton Ave., Wheaton. Interment will be private, in Wheaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Woodward moved to Wheaton in 1951 and dedicated herself to the area's charitable causes for 48 years. Alice was founder and charter president of the Wheaton Infant Welfare, originator of the Central DuPage Hospital Wise Penny, president of the Central DuPage Hospital Auxiliary, president of the Central DuPage Hospital Board of Governors, Wheaton Garden Club president, a B. R. Ryall YMCA board member, an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, a proud member of Hearts of Gold; and a president and frequent producer for the Wheaton Drama Club.
Alice was the beloved wife of Alfred E. Woodward; loving mother of Susan (Joseph) Whall, Michael Keller, Lynn Keller (Ken Horiszny) and Wendy Woodward (Ken Heiden); dear stepmother of Bob (Elsa Walsh) Woodward, Anne Swallow and David Woodward; devoted grandmother of Grant (Angie) Keller, Andrew Swallow, Tali Woodward, Leslie Swallow, and Collin, Brent andDiana Woodward; cherished great-grandmother of Daniel and Jeffrey Keller; fond aunt of Jean (Sam) Frank; and sister of Dorothea (James) Wyle-Yost.

Richard Thomas Bandman of Gurnee

Born Feb. 17, 1945, in Waukegan, he diedMonday, April 5, 1999, at Holy Family Hospital. Burial will be in North Shore Garden of Memories.
He retired after 20 years of employment at North Point Achievement Center in Zion, Ill.
Survivors include his mother, Sylvia of Gurnee; and brothers, Arthur (Carol) Bandman of Wadsworth, Robert Bandman of Waukegan, Donald Bandman of Gurnee, John (Diane) Bandman of Zion, Gerald (Sandra) Bandman of Antioch and James Bandman of Waukegan. One aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Gertrude Eleanor Byron Beardsley of St. Charles
Memorial services for Gertrude Eleanor ByronBeardsley, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at United Congregational Church of St. Charles. The Rev. Dr. John R. Rodgers will officiate.
Born Dec. 9, 1916, in Aurora, to John and Lillith Alice Schairer Byron, she died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at her home.
Gertrude was a master seamstress, sharing her talents with both family and friends. Her sewing circle of friends mey regularly and all were very important to her. She was a good friend, caring and compassionate. She always placed others before her own self.
Local hospitals benefited from her volunteer work and she captained many fund-raising campaigns, from going door to door for the American Cancer Institute, to bake sales to politics. She served in the polling places and acted as an election judge for many years.
Her appreciation of art resulted in some oil paintings of her own, but she appreciated the art of others more and was a patron of craftspeople. She travelled often to Florida and Arizona, as well as abroad to support her husband in his business accomplishments.
Plants flourished under her charge and she could not resist turning a broken sprig into a happy, thriving house plant.
She was also attached and devoted to her animals throughout her life, from standard poodles to an Afghan hound named Sasha.
A cancer survivor since 1964, Gertrude endured the devastating physical and emotional burden with unbelievable strength. She always expressed a warm appreciation of the doctors and nurses with whom she came in contact. She was able to leave the hospital and spend her last days at home with her family.
She was a member and past president of PEO Sisterhood Chapter KB and a member of the Fox Valley Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Kane County Home Bureau.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, O. R. `Bud' Beardsley; son, Randall Beardsley of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Janice (Michael) O'Brien of Tucson; grandson, Ashley Bidegain of Tucson; and her standard poodle, Jacquo Beardsley.

Jane E. Bergquist

Born July 26, 1917, in South Hill, Va., she died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her son's home. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
A homemaker, she was the beloved wife of the late Albert John Bergquist; loving mother of John William (Barbara) Bergquist of Arlington Heights, A. Morgan (Waltraud `Trudi') Bergquist of Buffalo Grove and Carol Bergquist of Deerfield; cherished grandmother of Maureen (Chris) Mooney and Sean and Sheila Bergquist; and dear sister of Frederick O. (the late Gloria) Morgan, and the late Aubrey (Bernice) and William L. Morgan.

Harold Blomberg of Elgin
Funeral services for Harold Blomberg, 92, of Willow Lake Estates in Elgin for the past 17 years, will be held at 2 p.m. today, at Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin with the Rev. Roger A. Elliott officiating.
Born in Akron, Ohio on Jan. 29, 1907, the son of Ernst and Christina Blomberg, he died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Burial will be private.
Mr. Blomberg, a Navy veteran of World War II, was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin and the Disc and Needle Music Club. He was a former 45-year employee of S. S. White Dental Mfg. /Pennwalt Company.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Grace Larson Blomberg, they married April 8, 1943; one daughter, Susan (the Rev. John) Shallow of Peshtigo, Wis.; one son, David Blomberg of Milwaukee; and one grandson, Mark Shallow of Peshtigo, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Paul and John, in infancy; and two sisters, Esther and Ruth.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of services today, at the church.

Lenore Brucher lifelong resident of West Chicago
Prayers for Lenore Brucher, 81, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Norris-Walen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago, with a 10 a.m. Mass to follow at St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate.
Born Sept. 22, 1917, to Agnes and Phillip Mann, she passed away Tuesday, April 5, 1999, at Provena Pine View Center in St. Charles. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Brucher was a member of St. Mary's Church and a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America Court 432 of West Chicago. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West Chicago Community High School in 1935. Lenore was a homemaker and worked part-time at a local nursery school while her children were young, and later was employed by Du-Wayne Motel in West Chicago. She was also an avid Cubs fan. Her friendliness and smiles will be greatly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph `Bud' Brucher, with whom she celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary July 3, 1999; two children, Carole Weigand of West Chicago and Larry (Donna) Brucher of St. Charles; six grandchildren, Jeff (Denise) Weigand of West Chicago, Michelle (Jeff) West of West Chicago, Marcia Coquillette of Sycamore, Tim Weigand of Aurora and Mike and Christopher Brucher of St. Charles; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marge (Don) Schramer and her son-in-law, Kent Weigand.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, where a liturgical wake service will be held at 5 p.m.
