James V. Mason of Woodstock
Services for James V. Mason, 98, were held Wednesday, April 7, at James J. Stout Funeral Home in Queens, N. Y.
Born Feb. 14, 1901, in Brooklyn, N. Y., he died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock. Interment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Vallhala, N. Y.
Mr. Mason worked as a supervisor at Air Express in New York for 35 years. He was a member of St. Fidelis Church of College Point, Queens, N. Y.
He was the husband of the late Bertha Linder; father of George M. (Nan) of Woodstock, Bertha (Bob) Perron of Bradford, N. H., Dorothy (Eugene) Rockford of Bayside, N. Y. and Claire (Kenneth) Wenzel of Toms River, N. J.; grandfather of 13; and great-grandfather of 39. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Local arrangements were made by Windridge Funeral Home, Ltd., Cary.

Ellen Passau of Barrington
Services for Ellen Passau (nee Woods), 80, a 31-year resident of Barrington, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Stirlen Pieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-CookRoad), Barrington. Kimberly Borzym, a chaplain from Advocate Hospice, will officiate.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she passed away Friday, April 9, 1999, in her home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Passau was a homemaker and was active in the community. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Auxiliary since its formation, a member of the Barrington Community Associates and also a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club. She enjoyed art, nature, needlepoint and gardening, and she loved animals.
Survivors include her children, Louis F. Passau of Barrington and Dennis G. Passau of Lake in the Hills; brothers, Lewis (Bettie) Woods of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Glenn H. (Marilyn) Wood of East Troy, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manfred Passau, whom she married Dec. 23, 1945, in South Bend, Ind.; her parents, Harry Jr. and Bessie Woods; and herbrother, Richard Woods.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary, 450 W. Hwy. 22, Barrington, IL 60010.

Beverly Hazel Ross of Barrington
A memorial service for Beverly Hazel Ross, 48, will be held at 2 p.m. today, at the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 S. Brinker Road, Barrington Hills. The Reverend Daniel Spike will officiate. A reception will follow at the church.
Born May 14, 1950, in Charlotte, N. C., she passed away Friday, April 9, 1999, at her home. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Ross was a senior partner and business manager for Ross-Payne & Associates, Inc., financial consultants. She graduated from Charlotte Country Day School, and then from Hollins College with a degree in statistics. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, the Junior League of Chicago, the Parks Board of North Barrington, and enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed sports.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Howard Ross III, whom she married June 30, 1973, in Charlotte; children, MarthaMcCausland Ross and Frank Howard Ross IV, both of Barrington; mother, Martha Alexander Hazel of Charlotte; and brother, Louis Phillip Hazel Jr., of Statesville, N. C.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Phillip Hazel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010, the American Cancer Society, 625 North Court, Palatine, IL 60067-8162, or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements were made by StirlenPieper & Davenport Funeral Home, Barrington.

Lucille J. Scharff of Bolingbrook
Funeral services for Lucille J. Scharff (nee Mercolino), 83, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), with a chapel service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
She was the beloved wife of the late William; devoted mother of William (Eileen), Darlin Tucker and the late Ron (Kathy) and Ricky Scharff; dear sister of Rose, Annie and John; fond grandmother of six; and great-grandmother of five.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.
Please omit flowers.

George W. Schenke of Wheeling
Services for George W. Schenke, 80, will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights.
Born April 5, 1919, he died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Before retiring in 1986, Mr. Schenke was a mechanic employed by Peoples Energy Corp. /Nicor. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his children, Carol (Gino) DeMarchi, Arthur (Jean) Prochnow and Patricia (Robert) Spilky; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice V. (nee Lindwell).
Visitation will be from noon until the time of the services today, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hoofed Animal Humane Society, P. O. Box 400, Woodstock, IL 60098-0400.

Thomas A. Schirmann
A memorial service for Thomas A. Schirmann, 43, of Des Plaines, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Christ Church Lake Forest, Waukegan Road and Route 60.
Born May 27, 1955, in Chicago, he passed away Saturday, April 10, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Schirmann had been raised in Northbrook and was a 1973 graduate of Glenbrook High School. He later graduated from Kendall College in Evanston and also attended the University of Arizona.
Tom was a former member of Northbrook United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Des Plaines for the past 10 years.
Surviving are his mother, Virginia Schirmann of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Lake Forest; and sister, Meg (Gary) Greenbaum of Lindenhurst.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Schirmann, in 1993.
In lieu offlowers, contributions may be made to the Cradle Society in Evanston.

Frank J. Schrod of Barrington
Services for Frank J. Schrod, 69, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, atStirlenPieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington.
Born Oct. 4, 1929, in Wurzburg, Germany, he passed away suddenly Friday, April 9, 1999, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
Mr. Schrod was a carpenter at his own company, Frank Schrod General Construction. His hobbies included wood working, German music and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Adele Schrod, whom he married in 1982 in Barrington; daughter, Dorothy Schrod of Detroit, Mich.; son, Thomas (Kimberly) Rogowsky of Quantico, Va.; six grandchildren; and three sisters and three brothers, all of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Frank J. Schrod Grandchildren Education Fund, Barrington Bank and Trust Company, 201 S. Hough St., Barrington, IL 60010.

Mary Lou Smith (nee Corliss), 71, formerly of Lombard, died Saturday, April 10, 1999. Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, Lombard, (630) 629-0094.

Elsa Smith of Des Plaines for 36 years
Services for Elsa Smith (nee Reck), 73, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1605 Vernon Ave., Park Ridge.
Born May 12, 1925, in Chicago, she died Friday, April 9, 1999, at her home. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum.
Ms. Smith was employed at Sears Training Center. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church Choir and the Rainbow Girls, and was a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Smith; mother of Karen (Kenneth) Burak andChristine (the late John) Twiehaus; and grandchildren, Allison, Matthew and Russ.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at G. L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines.
Memorials made to the church would be appreciated.

Loretta Wolfgram of Batavia
Services for Loretta Wolfgram, 85, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. Pastor David Naszowitz will officiate.
Born Dec. 19, 1913, in Rock Island, the daughter of Frederick and Virginia (nee Brown) Shaffstall, she passed away Friday, April 9, 1999, at Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora. Burial will be in West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia.
She was a member of Big Woods Congregational Church in Naperville.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Amey of Batavia andBillie (Thomas) Tuttle of Palatine; son, William (Cynthia) Wolfgram of Waterford, Wis.; granddaughters, Michele (Nick) Nixon of Naperville, Wendy (Patrick) Doland of Milwaukee, Wis. and Stacy Skenandore of Batavia; grandsons, Paul (Kathy) Ingram of Canton, Mich., Eric (Katie) Ingram of Reno, Nev. and Christopher Wolfgram of Marshalltown, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Sade Nixon of Naperville; and special friend, `Spike. ' She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Virginia M. Worth formerly of Bellwood
Services for Virginia M. Worth (nee Brenner), 75, most recently of Hoffman Estates, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a chapel service at 10 a.m. at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle.
Interment will be in Glen Oak Cemetery.
She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Worth; devoted mother of Kathleen (Dave) Brainer, Mary Ellen (Gordon) Schulz and Phyllis (George) Coalson; fond grandmother of seven; and great-grandmother of four.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the AmericanCancer Society would be appreciated.

Clemens J. Zdroikowski of Des Plaines
Private services for Clemens J. Zdroikowski, 79, will be held at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born Nov. 23, 1919, in Wisconsin, he died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge. Private interment will be in Town of Maine Cemetery.
Mr. Zdroikowski was self-employed as a carpenter by C. J. Zanck of Des Plaines, and a member of the Des Plaines Elks and Des Plaines Moose Lodge.
He was the husband of the late Bette (nee Schuknecht); and brother of Chester Zdroikowski of Rockford and Emily Zaborowski of Thorp, Wis.
