Theodore `Ted' V. Lyjak of Chicago
Prayers for Theodore `Ted' V. Lyjak, 77, of the Norwood Park community of Chicago, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at M. J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Thecla Church, Devon and Oak Park Avenues, Chicago.
Born Nov. 17, 1921, in Chicago, he died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at his home. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Lyjak was a retired precision tool grinder for ITW. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was past president of Lafayette Council Knights of Columbus, member of LaFourths, president of St. Thecla Leisure Club and member of St. Thecla Parish Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (nee Zielinski); children, Dennis `Ted' Patty of Palatine, Dale (Kim) of Green Oaks, David (Sue) of Des Plaines, Daniel (Heidi) of Grayslake and Douglas (Janet) of Bartlett; sister, Florence (late Edward) Szempinski of Chicago; and grandchildren, Kristy, Courtney, Michael, Kevin, Briana, Scott, Stefanie, Brett, Haley, Alex, Bradley, Joseph and Shelley.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian (late Edward) Grabowski.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

James `Rusty' Akin of West Chicago
Services for James `Rusty' Akin, 33, will begin with prayersat 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at NorrisWalen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, West Chicago. The Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate.
Born April 22, 1965, in Winfield, he passed away suddenly, Friday, April 9, 1999, at his home. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
A lifelong resident of West Chicago, Mr. Akin attended school at St. Mary's Church and graduated in 1984 from Community High School, District 94 of West Chicago. He was a veteran of the Army and was employed by A. C. Soto Construction of Elburn.
Surviving are his children, Michelle, Gigola and James Luigi, all of Glen Ellyn; mother, Betty Akin of West Chicago; brother, John Akin of West Chicago; paternal grandparents, John and Pauline Akin of Wylie, Texas; and aunts, Rose Genovesi of West Chicago, Paula Taylor of Colorado and Charlotte Smith of Chicago.
He waspreceded in death by his father, James W. Akin Sr., in 1981; and maternal grandparents, Juanita and John Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Lois L. Andersen lifelong resident of Elgin
Private family services for Lois L. Andersen, 76, will beheld at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.
Born Sept. 19, 1922, in Elgin, the daughter of Arne and Lucia Morten Rovelstad, she died Friday, April 9, 1999, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates.
Burial will be private.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Mills of Elgin and Janet Andersen (Doug Williams) of Streamwood; seven grandchildren, Brian Mills, Amberlynne Pyrek, Kristina (Michael) Hein, Gregory Mills, John Pyrek III, Lauren Mills and Tessa Rae Pyrek; and brother, Dr. James M. (Marie) Rovelstad of Racine, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis, in 1983; and her daughter, Julie Pyrek, in 1989.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.

Sebastiano Barbera of Palatine
A funeral Mass for Sebastiano Barbera, 74, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Immaculate Conception Church.
Born March 1, 1925, in Italy, he died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines.
He was a laborer in the steel manufacturing industry and a member of the Societa Originale Santa Rosalia.
He was the husband ofVita Cavataio; father of Serafino `Sam' (Dorothea Soriano) Barbera; brother of Ignazio (Rosaria) Barbera, Giuseppa(Gioacchino) Chiappone, Dominica (late Giuseppe) Amato, Nunzia (Angelo) Cucco, and the late Vincenzo (Concetta) Barbera; brother-in-law of Michael (Mary) Cavataio and Giuseppa (Dominick) Longo; and fond uncle and great-uncle of many.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge.

Martha L. Bulmahn
Services for Martha L. Bulmahn, 86, of Decatur, Ind., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, Ind.
Born Feb. 21, 1913, in Allen County, Ind., the daughter of William L. andSophie (nee Gallmeier) Schroeder, she died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana, where she had been a patient for one week. Burial will be in St.
John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bingen.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, charter member of the Ladies Guild and L. W. M. L.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlene (Willis) Conrad of rural Decatur; sons, Fredrick W. Bulmahn of Mount Prospect, Ronald A. Bulmahn of Fort Wayne, Ind.
and Verlin J. Bulmahn of Decatur, Ind.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrand-children; one great-granddaughter; and four stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Bulmahn on Oct. 3, 1982, they were married on June 6, 1936; her parents; four brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, 520 N. Second St., Decatur, Ind., and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Bingen, Wyenken Lutheran School or a charity of the donor's choice.

Kenneth E. Chapleau of Naperville
Services for Kenneth E. Chapleau, 79, will begin with a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. today, at FriedrichJones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 26 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Born Aug. 30, 1919, in Chicago, the son of George and Alberta Chapleau, he died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be in Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien.
Kenneth served in the Army during World War II and began a 30-year career at Western Electric, Hawthorn, shortly afterward. He was active with the Hinsdale American Legion and was a member of the Forty and Eight, Naperville VFW Post 3873 and Knights of Columbus. Kenneth enjoyed his lifelong hobbies of jigsaw and word puzzles.
He is survived by his son, Stephen (Judy) Chapleau ofNaperville; grandson, Nicholas Chapleau of Naperville; nephews, George Chapleau Sullivan of Peoria and Thomas Chapleau Sullivan of Pittsburgh, Pa.; brother-in-law, Warren (June) Todd of Plymouth, Mich.; sister-in-law, Betty Willig of Taccoa, Ga.; niece, Jennifer Haruta of California; nephews, Thomas Todd of Michigan, William Willig of Georgiaand Andrew Willig of Georgia; and numerous dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice (nee Willig); brother, 2nd Lt. William Chapleau, who was killed at Anzio in 1944; and his infant son.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the prayer service today, at the funeral home.

Gladys R. Dalton of Aurora
Services for Gladys R. Dalton, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Aurora. The Rev. Scott Poling will officiate.
Born Jan. 10, 1928, in Aurora, she passed away Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Provena Mercy Hospital. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Dalton was a lifelong member of Marion Avenue Baptist Church. She owned and operated Evelyn's Beauty Shop for more than 10 years and was a member of the NWCS Credit Union and the Burlington Northern Credit Union.
Surviving are her daughters, Lori (Timothy) Duy of Aurora and Cindy (Mark) Carroll of Oswego; sons, Fred R. Dalton III of Aurora and James L. (Andrea) Dalton of Boston, Mass.; grandsons, Adam and Ryan Duy of Aurora, Sean and Dakota Carroll of Oswego, Fred R. IV and Scott Dalton of Aurora, and Curtis Dalton of Kingsland, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Glenn Fadness of Loves Park, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred R. Dalton Jr., in June 1975; brother, Gordon R. Fadness;and parents, Oscar and Rachael Fadness.

Margaret `Marge' C. Dawson formerly of Algonquin
Funeral services for Margaret `Marge' C. Dawson, 80, most recently of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin. The Rev. Michael Tierney will officiate.
Born Dec. 7, 1918, in Joliet, to John W. and Rachael (nee Baskerville) McRoberts, she died Friday, April 9, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Burial will be in Algonquin Cemetery.
Mrs. Dawson had been a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin. She was also an honorary life member and past president of the Algonquin Women's Club, Algonquin Garden Club, Eastview Elementary SchoolPTO, Algonquin Founders Day Committee and the Algonquin Business Association of Lake Havasu City. She was an avid bridge player at the senior center and a member of the Elks and the Gem and Mineral Society.
Survivors include herhusband, Thomas Dawson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., whom she married June 10, 1940; sons, John (Shirley) Dawson of Mesa, Ariz. and James (Terri) Dawson of Cary; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Thomas Dawson, both of Cary; and nephew, Robert Michael (Catherine Anne) Turley of Joliet.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Theresa Turley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Masses in her name to the church, or donations to the American Cancer Society, would be appreciated.

Lillian M. Dettloff formerly of Hampshire
Services for Lillian M. Dettloff, 91, of Culver, Ind., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, with the Rev. Bill Shaw officiating.
Born Feb. 19, 1908, in Lone Rock, Iowa, to George and Lillian E. (nee Swain) Worthington, she passed away Saturday, April 10, 1999, in Culver, of natural causes. Burial will be held in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Lillian married Frank P. Dettloff on Oct. 20, 1930, in Geneva. She had been a member of First United Methodist Churchof Hampshire.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Karsten of Hampshire and Helen Silvius of Hot Springs, Ark.; son, Daniel Dettloff of Culver; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, Dec. 25, 1965; sisters, Edith, Hulda, Sylvia and Gertude `Jo, ' and brothers, Enos and Hugo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Evelyn Marie Emmerson formerly of Kewanee
Graveside services for Evelyn Marie Emmerson (nee Pool), 82, of Lake Bluff, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, in Griggsville, Ill. Rev. David Schultz will officiate.
Born Jan. 17, 1918, in Pike County, Ill., the daughter of Virgil and Vera (nee Myers) Pool, she died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Pebble Brook Nursing Center in Lake Bluff.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School and East Moline StateHospital nurses training in Moline. She married Walter Emmerson of Atkinson in Pekin, Ill. on June 24, 1939. She and her husband ran Emmerson's Grocery Store in Chambersburg until moving to Kewanee in 1954, at which time she was employed by Kewanee Hospital as a registered nurse. She retired in 1982.
Surviving are her children, Judy (Fred) Gscheidle of McHenry and J. Gerald (Pat) Emmerson of Galva; granddaughter, Gretchen Gscheidle of Chicago; half sisters, Doris (Dick) Eckhoff of Dover and Virginia Robinson of Rock Island; half brothers, Virgil Pool of Georgia, Dean Pool of Springfield, Burke Pool of Xenia, Lyle Pool of Griggsville, Galena Pool of Meredosia and Henry Pool of Jacksonville; uncle, Dale Myers of Chambersburg; and sisters-in-law, Irene Payne of Pekin and Charlotte Pool of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband in Oct. 17, 1978; and brother, Kenneth Pool of Texas.
Memorials may be made to the Florence Nightingale Society at Kewanee Hospital.
