Edith McDonald of Elgin
Services for Edith McDonald will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Reverend Mark Lund will officiate.
Born Oct. 15, 1913, in Elgin, she passed away Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Oak Crest Retirement Village in DeKalb. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens.
She had been employed with Toastmaster and the State of Illinois. She retired from School District U46 in 1978. She was a member of the Elgin American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, George, in 1992.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Provena St. Joseph Cancer Care Center.

Arthur Fred Miller of St. Charles
Funeral services for Arthur Fred Miller, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 950 Hart Road, Batavia, IL 60510. The Rev. Robert W. Weidler will officiate.
Born Dec. 17, 1911, in Batavia, he died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Mr. Miller had been a resident of Batavia until the mid-1960s when he built a home near Elburn. For the past 28 years he had lived in St. Charles. Mr. Miller was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Batavia. At the time of his retirement in 1976, he had been employed for 46 years as a machinist for Smith Richardson Manufacturing in Geneva.
Surviving are his stepdaughters, Joann (Jesse) Dewberry of Bromide, Okla., and Sally (Daniel) Fisk of Dix, Ill.; nine stepgrandchildren; and 20 greatstepgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Wilma Miller of Batavia and Judy Miller of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Miller; parents, August and Ida Miller; brothers, Frank, Harold, George and William; sisters, Ella, Mable, Mildred, Margaret and Irene; sisters-in-law, Gladys and Betty; and brothers-in-law, William Johnsen, Edgar Granskog and William Kearns.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Frances E. Naatz of Schaumburg
Memorial services for Frances E. Naatz (nee Crowley), 81, will be heldat 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.), Streamwood/Schaumburg.
Born Feb. 4, 1918, in Magnolia, Minn., she died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Cremation will be private.
Mrs. Naatz was a member of the Chicago Women's Travel Club and Grace United Methodist Church in Logan Square.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Naatz; children, James (Jill Wood-Naatz), Judith (late Donald) Ostling and John (Betty) Naatz, all of Schaumburg; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) and Christopher (Jonna) Naatz, Shane Hague, Tiffany Naatz, Karin and Kelly Ostling, Laura (Chuck) Grochowski, and Beth and Jill Naatz; great-grandchildren, Sara, Zachary and Jacob Naatz; and sister, Kay Johnson.
She was preceded in death byher sisters, Beryl Ludwig and Jean McCauley.
Memorial visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Russell J. Nelson of Geneva
Services for Russell J. Nelson, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St., Geneva, with the Rev. Kathy Lawes officiating.
Born Feb. 18, 1911, in Little Falls, Minn., to Carl and Anna (nee Anderson) Nelson, he passed away Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at the home of his daughter in St. Charles. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Elgin, following the services.
Russell moved to Illinois as a young man and lived in the Elburn and Virgil area during the 1930s. He married the former Harriet Sturm on Oct. 18, 1941, and the couple moved to Elgin where they raised their family. Mr. Nelson was a longtime member of Carpenters Local #363 and worked until his retirement in 1975. He was also a Navy veteran, serving in World War II as a carpenters mate, and a lifetime member of Elgin VFW Post #307. He had moved to Geneva six years ago.
Surviving are his daughters, Peggy Flanagan of Maryland and Beth Nelson of St. Charles; son, John Nelson of Elgin; grandchildren, Michelle and Erin Flanagan, and Scott Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicki Lou Nelson; brothers, Ruben, Elmer and Vern Nelson; sisters, Veda Eckerson and Augusta Henderson; and by his wife, Harriet, who passed away in 1986.

Jeanne I. Perricone formerly of Arlington Heights
Private services for Jeanne I. Perricone, 79, of Lakeview, Ark., were held in Arkansas.
Born Feb. 8, 1920, in Leesburg, Fla., the daughter of Albin and Jennie Placek Arzig, she died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Baxter County Regional Hospital. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A homemaker, she had lived in Lakeview since November 1986, moving from Arlington Heights. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Santo Perricone of Lakeview, whom she married on May 3, 1941, in Chicago; sons, Ralph (Bette) Perricone of Wheeling and Allen J. Perricone; grandchildren, Cheryl (Robert) Dill and Christine (Charles) Mata, all of Wauconda; brother, Edward (Margie) Arzig of Leesburg, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William Arzig.

Joan Prosen-Slak
A Mass of the Resurrection for Joan Prosen-Slak (nee Rutell) will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Immaculate Conception Church, Waukegan.
She passed away Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Rose) Prosen Jr. of Beach Park, Jean (Michael) Kana of Grayslake, Julienne (Mark) Harnby of Lake Villa and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Snell of Hainesville; 11grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Arrangements were made by Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Ltd., Grayslake.

Frida L. Schmokel of Elgin
Services for Frida L. Schmokel, 100, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. The Rev. Herbert Hedstrom will officiate.
Born April 25, 1899, in Rummelsburg, Germany, to August and Augusta (nee Golz) Kaschke, she died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Sherman West Court. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Schmokel had come to the United States on March 22, 1922 and had resided in the Elgin area until her death.
Surviving are her daughters, Elly (Austin) Mitchell and Lotty (Harry) Thies, both of Elgin, and Betty (J. Donald) Ramsey of DeKalb; grandchildren, Bonnie (Gerald) Baumann of Ingleside Lake, Gary (Vicki) Mitchell of Elgin, Douglas (Linda) Ramsey of Arizona, Paul (Linda) Ramsey of Minnesota and Barbara (Douglas) Hamilton of Arizona; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Baumann, Andrew and Janet Ramsey, and Gregory (Carla) Hamilton; greatgreat-granddaughter, Skylar Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Schmokel, on May 14, 1959; two sisters; and one brother.
Visitation willbe from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Elgin.

Margaret M. Scoleri
Services for Margaret M. Scoleri (nee Ceili), 82, of Melrose Park, will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday, at Geils Funeral Home, 180 S. York Rd., Bensenville.
Born Aug. 5, 1916, in Melrose Park, she died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Burial will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Employed in customer service sales, she is survived by her daughters, Rochelle (Glenn) Raddatz and JoAnn Albanese (Larry Wood); sister, Mary Pestillo; grandchildren, Jimmy, Shelly, Denise, Vicki, Danny, Kristin and Kimberly; three great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Donato Sinisi.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Wayne P. Sipla of Hanover Park

Born Dec. 25, 1946, in Chicago, he died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Interment will be private.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy Petersen;loving father of Michael and Peter Sipla and Chris Sanders; dear son of William and the late Mildred Sipla; and fond nephew of John and Mary Sipla.

Patrick Sommerfield of Des Plaines
Patrick Sommerfield, 58, of Des Plaines, lost a tough fight with cancer on Thursday, May 27, 1999. His funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. today, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born March 22, 1941, in Chicago, he died at Resurrection Medical Center. Interment willbe private.
He was the loving husband of Nancy Sommerfield (nee Sidor); caring father of Patrick M. (Rachelle) Sommerfield of Irvine, Calif., Thomas W. (Kathleen) Sommerfield of North Aurora, and Kathryn Sommerfield of Chicago; proud grandpa of Connor; brother of William (Analyse) Sommerfield of Grayslake, Walter (Jeanne) Sommerfield of Chicago, and Barbara Cunningham of Round Lake; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late Ignacio; mother of Ezequiel (Dolores), Mary (Ruben) Gonzales and Ezzie (Jorge) Cantu; sisterof Tolentino Rodriguez and family; grandmother of 12; and great-grandmother of five.
