Josephine Bailey Johnson of Batavia
Services for Josephine Bailey Johnson, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Logan Street Missionary Baptist Church in Batavia. The Rev. Barry Dixon Sr. will officiate.
Born Nov. 4, 1914, in Brownsville, Tenn., to Joe and Nora (nee Sutton) Bailey, she departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Vencor Hospital in Sycamore. Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
Mrs. Johnson attended school in Dyersburg, Tenn., and was employed in Tiptonville, Tenn., as a teacher. After moving to Illinois, she worked in Geneva at the Girl's School for 20 years until her retirement. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age in Tiptonville and later, when she moved to Batavia, she was united with Logan Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained until she answered the Master's call.
She leaves to mourn her passing her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Jerry Johnson, with whom she was united in marriage on Nov. 14, 1949, in Mississippi; brother, Roy (Mildred) Bailey of Batavia; sister, Leona Trainer of California; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special student, Alex Wallace Sr. of Batavia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Leslie and John D. Bailey.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. today, at the church.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Logan Street Missionary Baptist Church, 824 N. River St., Batavia, IL 60510.
Arrangements were made by Yurs Peterson Funeral Home, Batavia.

Margaret E. Johnson formerly of Cary
Private funeral services will be held today for Margaret E. Johnson, 91, of Albuquerque, N. M., formerly of Cary.
Born Aug. 18, 1907, in Chicago, she died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at ManorCare Health Center in Albuquerque. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
She is survived by her nephew, Arthur W. Johnson of Yardley, Pa.
Arrangements were made by Windridge Funeral Home, Cary.

Robert E. Koch of Crystal Lake
Prayers for Robert E. Koch, 79, will be said at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 West Route 14, Crystal Lake. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Reverend Geoffrey Wirth will officiate.
Born Nov. 17, 1919, in Ashland, Wis., the son of Fred and Clara (nee Marchant) Koch, he died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at his home.
Bob graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of arts degree in 1941, and went to work for Kemper Insurance in Long Grove retiring after 41 years as a systems analyst. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and served in several ministries.
He also served as Cub Master, Scout Master and Commissioner for the Boy Scouts for many years.
He served his country during World War II as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He was a charter member and past commander of the Crystal Lake VFW Post #6004. His veteran activities included being a volunteer at the North Chicago Veterans Hospital for about six years. He was an active member of the William Chandler American Legion Post #171 and a charter member of the Crystal Lake Veteran's Memorial Association.
Bob was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father McCormick Council #3880 as well as a 4th degree member and past faithful navigator of the Bishop Boylan Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob's other activities included the St. Thomas Keenager's Club, asa volunteer at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and many fund raising events.
For all his efforts, Bob was recognized by the Crystal Lake Jaycees in 1989 and awarded an honor's plaque for outstanding community service.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret M. `Marge' (nee Jaeger), whom he married on Feb. 14, 1942, in Green Bay, Wis. ; children, Laurence (Sharon) Koch of Round Lake Beach, Mary (Marshall) Smith of Wauconda, Margaret Fritz of Santa Clarita Valley, Calif., Thomas (Gayle) Koch of Bentonville, Ark., Judith (Tom) Christensen of San Marcos, Calif., Cynthia (Bob) McNamara of Rolling Meadows and Robert Jr. (Joyce) Koch of Cary; grandchildren, LaDonna, Lisa, Raymond, Robbie, Mark, Marsha, Melissa, Jimmy, Wendy, Gina, Timmy, Jeff, Kassandra, Shannon, Bobby, Samantha, Kelly, Elizabeth and Rebecca; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Irma Santy.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials made for Masses or donations to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, Inc., 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010, would be appreciated.

Douglas C. Kurtz of Barrington
Services for Douglas C. Kurtz, 71, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St., Barrington. Rev. Duane Contois will officiate.
Mr. Kurtz died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Interment will be private.
He was a retired airline captain for United Airlines of Chicago and a member of the Airline Pilots Association, Retired United Pilots Association and the Retired Capital Airline Pilots Association.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth (nee Young) of Barrington; children, Douglas (Linda) Kurtz of Glen Ellyn, Gail (Mike) McKinley of Medina, Ohio and Pam (Bob) Martin of Crystal Lake; brothers, Robert (Barbara) Kurtz of Pottstown, Pa. and John (Mary) Kurtz of Boyertown, Pa. ; and grandchildren, Lance and Amy McKinley of Medina, and Kimmy and Bobby Martin of Crystal Lake.

Armand E. Leclair
Services for Armand E. Leclair of Algonquin will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and continue with Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Theresa Church, 467 N. Benton St., Palatine.
Born Nov. 12, 1927, in Woonsocket, R. I., he died Thursday, June 3, 1999. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Leclair was atax manager for DeSota Inc. He was also past president of the Chicago Tax Club.
He was the husband of Pauline Leclair (nee Ricard); father of Gary (Suzanne) and Mark (Audrey) Leclair; grandfather of Alex, Emily Anne and Hannah Beth; and brother of the late Lucille Flanagan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 625 North Court, Suite 280, Palatine, IL 60067, would be appreciated.

Walter J. Lehman of Lake in the Hills
Services for Walter J. Lehman, 88, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Service, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin, and continue withMass at 10 a.m., at St. Monica Catholic Church in Carpentersville. The Rev. Fabio Garzon will officiate.
Born March 19, 1911, in Chicago, to John and Mary (nee Tessman) Lehman, he died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Lehman had served in the Air Corps during World War II. For 24 years he had been employed at Carson Pirie Scott, later worked at Fink Safe and Lock, and retired in 1976 from McGraw Edison, where he had worked in the parts department. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a member of the American Legion in Lake in the Hills.
Surviving are his daughter, Pat (Robert) Neuzil of Lake in the Hills; sister, Annie Storch of Muskegon, Mich. ; granddaughter, Tammy (Mike) Mensing of Lake in the Hills; and great-granddaughter, Brittany Reusch of Lake in the Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine A. Campbell Lehman, whom he married Oct. 26, 1940, and who preceded him Sept. 18, 1993; son, Robert J. Lehman; brother, John Lehman; and sister, Helen Free.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Roger E. Lowrey of Glendale Heights
Services for Roger E. Lowrey, 69, will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at Cypress Funeral Home, 1698 N. Bloomingdale Rd. (between Army Trail Rd. and North Ave.), Glendale Heights.
Mr. Lowrey passed away Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Glen Oaks Hospital. Private inurnment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Lowrey was a Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a retired foreman for the Chicago Magnet Wire Company.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice `Pat' (nee Niacaris); children, Linda, Jeffrey, Roberta, Paula (Rich) Carlson, Michael and Kelly; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Jute) Handrick; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday, at the funeral home.

Frank H. Morrow Jr. formerly of Elgin
Memorial services for Frank H. Morrow Jr., 86, of Chicago, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church in Elgin. The Rev. Thomas Walker will officiate.
Born Feb. 21, 1913, in New Castle, Pa., to Frank H. and Myrtle (nee Braun) Morrow Sr., he died Tuesday, June1, 1999, at Garden View Nursing Home in Chicago.
Burial will be private.
Mr. Morrow had served in the Army duringWorld War II and was later employed as a salesman in retail meat sales.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin and Eagles Aerie #1047, and was an avid golfer and bowler.
The Morrows had formerly lived on Elgin's west side on Worth Avenue.
Surviving are his son, Richard (Karen) Morrow of Naperville; daughter, Patricia (the Rev. Robert) Craig of Metmora, Ill. ; sister, Velma McCoy in Pennsylvania; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Rob and Stephen Craig in Metmora, and Brett and Scott Morrow in Naperville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Morrow (nee James), whom he married Aug. 7, 1942, and who preceded him April 22, 1992; two brothers; and one sister.
Memorials may be made to Northwestern University Alzheimer's Center, Searle #11, 303 E. Chicago St., Chicago, IL 60611.

Virginia K. Murphy of Naperville
Services for Virginia K. Murphy, 83, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville, going to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, Naper Boulevard and Green Trails Drive, Naperville.
Born Nov. 5, 1915, in Chicago, she died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at ManorCare in Naperville. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Murphy had been a resident of Naperville for 15 years and had previously lived in the Beverly area. A graduate of the Cook County School of Nursing, she had worked as a registered nurse for about 50 years, retiring in 1981 from Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. Mrs. Murphy was a member and past president of the South Shore Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #2255, a former member of St. Barnabas Church, and most recently a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Naperville, where she was a very active parishioner. She especially loved baking for her family and friends.
Surviving are hersons, Michael (Barbara) Murphy of Wood Dale and Jim (Karron) Murphy of Jacksonville, Ill. ; daughters, Mary Kay Murphy of Janesville, Calif., Trish (Dennis) Mazur of Naperville and Francie (Rick) Mitchell of Los Angeles, Calif. ; sister, Patricia Haller of Tenino, Wash. ; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Thomas and Kathryn (nee Carrick) Dean; husband, Francis M. Murphy; brother, Clyde (the late Ruth) Dean; sister, Marcella (the late Frank) Shannon; and brother-in-law, Frank Haller.
Visitation will be from 4 to8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Polyak had been employed as an accountant.
Survivors include his sons, Frank W. Polyak III (fiancee, Heather) and Steven (Kathleen) Polyak; daughter, Theresa Polyak (fiance, Michael); former spouse, Marian; grandchildren, Brandi, Paul and Michelle; mother, Violet Polyak; brothers, Michael (Mary), Bill (Alice) and Jim (Christine) Polyak; sister, Kathy (Larry) Olson; and many nieces and nephews.
