Susan E. Murphy of Naperville
Services for Susan E. Murphy, 43, formerly of Palos Heights, will beginwith prayers at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 2220 Lisson Road, Naperville.
Born Nov. 8, 1955, in Evergreen Park, she died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at the University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
Susan was a longtime, dedicated employee of General Electric, Service Division.
Surviving are her son, Michael McAllister of Oswego; brothers, Philip (Laura) Murphy of Lindenhurst, Michael (Debbie) Murphy of Dallas, Texas, and David (Vicki) Murphy of Northbrook; sisters, Jeannie (James) Murphy-Mittal of Naperville, Eileen Murphy of Crestwood, Sharon (Tim) Richardson of Libertyville and Mary (Kent) Castle of Racine, Wis. ; stepbrother, Doug Marshall of Elk Grove, Calif. ; nieces and nephews, Philip IV, Megan, Katie and Casey Murphy, Matt, Brett and Ben Mittal, Brian, Skaj, Corey, Nicole and Nellie Richardson, and Kyle Andrew, Brent and Ryan Castle; and father, Philip (Paula) Murphy of Surprise, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Murphy (nee Cain).
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Chicago Medical Center - Section of Hematology/ Oncology Lung Cancer Program, 5841 S. Maryland Ave., MC 2115, Chicago, IL 60637-1470.

Lerine B. Neubauer of Island Lake
Services for Lerine B. Neubauer (nee Benson), 76, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at KisselburgWauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda.
Born Oct. 1, 1922, in Stambaugh, Mich., she died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Neubauer had been a resident of Island Lake for 14 years. She was a member of the Island Lake Women's Club, and the Island Lake Senior Citizens, and was a volunteer for the WaucondaIsland Senior Services.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Neubauer, who passed away Nov. 17, 1981; loving mother of Jeanne (Earl) Prudhomme; cherished grandmother of David (Beth), Denise Ryan, Ernie (Cheryl) and Craig Prudhomme; great-grandmother of Katie, Kelly, Nick, Aimee, Natalie, Melanie and Kelsey; dear sister of Lucille (Maurie) Barry of Florida; sister-in-lawof Lucille Benson; and aunt of several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Walter, Agnes, Edward, Mabel, Lillian, Elmer and Robert.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Erna K. Pahnke of Elgin
Services for Erna K. Pahnke, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Rev. Martin Balzer and Rev. David Schlie will officiate.
Born Feb. 2, 1909, in Elgin, the daughter of Henry and Augusta Schlie, she passed away Thursday, June 3, 1999, at the Rosewood Care Center in Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
A lifelong Elgin resident, she was a graduate of Sherman Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an occupational nurse for McGraw Edison in Algonquin.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin and Sherman Hospital School of Nursing Alumni.
Survivors include her sister, Wilma A. Lueck of Elgin; brothers, Orlyn Schlie and Roland Schlie, both of Oviedo, Fla. and Rev. David Schlie of Fort Wayne, Ind. ; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William McMahon, in 1945; second husband, Melvin Pahnke, in 1967; brothers, Rev. Walter, Rev. George andAlbert Schlie; and sisters, Minnie Brown and Dorothy Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services Tuesday, at the church.
Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran School.

Charles J. Rothers of Arlington Heights
A memorial Mass for Charles J. Rothers, 78, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights.
Born Feb. 18, 1921, in Chicago, Mr. Rothers died Friday, June 4, 1999, at home. Interment will be private.
He retired in 1986, when he was the director of strategic planning at the Tribune Company. He was formerly employed as vice president and director of engineering at WGN Continental Broadcasting and was the former president of WGN Electronic Systems Company.
A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Rothers joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1985, and flew 30 missions as a search andrescue pilot. He also served as a member of the Arlington Heights Central City Development.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice E. (nee Kapple), whom he married on June 19, 1945; children, Barbara (Ralph) Rader of GrandRapids, Mich., Tom (Diane) Rothers of Green Bay, Wis., Jan (Charlie) Cimorelli of Schaumburg and John Rothers of Schaumburg; grandchildren, Michael and Megan Rader, and Chris and Kate Cimorelli; and sister, Gertrude Osmond of Tampa, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010 or your favorite charity.

Anthony Scheri formerly of St. Charles
A funeral Mass for Anthony Scheri, 73, of Cape Coral, Fla., will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Patrick Catholic Mission Church, St. Charles.
Born Oct. 29, 1925, in Catanzaro, Italy, to Nicholas and Michelena (nee Cortese) Scheri, he died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Cape Coral Hospital. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva Township.
A veteran, Mr. Scheri had served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #342 and St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marie Scheri; daughters, Barbara (Pat) Cain and Donna (Dennis) Karolewicz, both of St. Charles; sister, Mary Cavanaugh of Elmwood Park; brothers, Peter Scheri of Hoffman Estates and Ralph Scheri of New York; and grandchildren, Cory, James and Brian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Kathleen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles.

Ruth W. Schumm of Libertyville
Services for Ruth W. Schumm, 78, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church, 429 Brainerd Ave., Libertyville, with the Rev. James E. Scorgie officiating.
Born Dec. 23, 1920, in New Kensington, Pa., to Edward and Amalia Wachter, she passed away Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. A graveside service will be held at noon Thursday, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, Ill.
Ruth was a member of the Class of 1942 at Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., and following college was employed by the Aluminum Company of America in New Kensington. She married Louis W. Schumm on Nov. 6, 1943, in New Kensington, and the family moved to Libertyville in 1955 where Ruth was an active school volunteer and District #70 PTA president from 1962 to 1963. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Libertyville Women'sClub, the Knollwood Club, the Town & Country Women and the Libertyville Garden Club, and was an avid golfer. She and her husband also had been seasonal residents of Cove Cay in Clearwater, Fla., since 1984.
Ruth will be especially remembered as a loving wife and mother and a loyal friend.
Surviving are her husband, Louis, who retired in 1984 as president and CEO of Ekco Products, Inc., in Wheeling; daughters, Barbara (Adrian) DeGroot of Irvine, Calif., Marilyn (Alan) Pomeroy of Alameda, Calif., Janet (Bill) Blum of Worthington, Ohio, Joanne (Kurt) Konrath of Inverness and Laura (Dirk) Quayle of Northbrook; and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marion Endean of Abingdon, Va. ; and brother, Edward Wachter of New Kensington.
Friends of the family may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Condell Medical Center, 801 S.
Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048.

Mabel V. Sims of Itasca
Services for Mabel V. Sims (nee Krause), 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Lutheran Church of St. Luke in Itasca, where she will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Born Aug. 21, 1911, in Chicago, she died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery, Chicago.
She was the wife of the late Floyd Sims; mother of Gwen (Jim) McBeth and the late Marlene Sims; grandmother of Douglas Uding, Carole Kingsley and John Uding; and sister of Alfred Krause and Melvin (Eileen) Krause.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca.

Norman `Dink' Badgerow of Elgin
Services for Norman `Dink' Badgerow, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Madison Funeral Home 305 Park St., Elgin.
Born Jan. 6, 1924, in Bevier, Mo., the son of Carl and Helen Nesbit Badgerow, he passed away Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Sherman Hospital. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; sons, David (Marion) Badgerow of Tennessee and Gary (Judy) Badgerowof Elgin; granddaughters, Holly and Heidi, both of Elgin; grandson, Paul of Tennessee; sister, Mariam Annis of Elgin; stepdaughter, Vicki Pelock of Elgin; stepsons, Norman Pelock and Jeffrey Pelock, both of Elgin; and six stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elgin Fire Department Paramedics.

Kathryn A. Barreca formerly of Wilmette
Funeral services for Kathryn A. Barreca, 59, most recently ofFontana, Wis., will be held at noon today, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake.
Born Oct. 28, 1939, in Valparaiso, Ind., she passed away Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Glenbrook Hospital. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, following the services.
Mrs. Barreca had lived in Fontana since May 1998 and previously had resided in Wilmette for 30 years as well as Brookfield, Wis.
She leaves her children, Ann (Chris) Norman of Grayslake, Frank (Elaine) Barreca of Long Grove, Iowa, David (Mary) Barreca of Grayslake and John (Julie) Barreca of Grayslake; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her mother, Marian Wolfe of Janesville, Wis. ; sisters and brothers, Mary Lynn (Wes) Huhges of Janesville, Sally (Robert) Zentz of Jefferson, Wis., Joseph (Linda) Wolfe of Brookfield, Thomas (Gail) Wolfe of Janesville, and Steven (Sherry) Wolfe of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Barreca, on Nov. 14, 1996; and father, John Wolfe.
Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon today, at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Kellogg Cancer Center, c/o Evanston Hospital, 2650 Ridge Ave., Evanston, IL 60201.

Walter L. Berenson of Palatine
Funeral services for Walter L. Berenson, 64, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and continue with Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas of Villanova Church.
Born Sept. 17, 1934, he died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
He was the loving husband of the late Jane Berenson; cherished father of Laura and Cynthia Berenson; and dear brother of Lyn Merchant and Jean Serpico.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Contributions to donor's favorite charity or Masses in his memory would be appreciated.
