Charles A. Blankenburg formerly of Downers Grove
Services for Charles A. Blankenburg, 87, of Fredericksburg, Texas since 1977, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Williams- Kampp Funeral Home, Inc., 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton.
Born on Nov. 18, 1911, he died Monday, July 12, 1999, at his home. Interment will be in Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton.
Charles was raised in Downers Grove and graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1929. He studied accounting in night school and obtained his CPA at the age of 23. He went to work for an audit company that would eventually merge with the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, and he became a partner in that firm in 1942. In 1950 he was transferred to a new office opening in Houston, Texas. Charles was a managing partner in Houston until his retirement in 1976, after 46 years of service, and in 1977 he and his wife Mardelle fell in love with, and moved to, Fredericksburg.
He is survived by his brother, Fred Blankenburg; two nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardelle, in November 1993.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the services, Friday, at the funeral home.

Edward K. Boes, 74, of Round Lake Beach, died Saturday, July 10, 1999. Arrangements were made by Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., Grayslake, (847) 223-8122.

Margaret R. Butler of Batavia
Funeral services for Margaret R. Butler, 82, formerly of DeKalb, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. Rev. James R. Sandberg will be officiating.
Born Dec. 15, 1916, in Elgin to George W. and Iris (nee Tyrrell) Graupner, she died Monday July 12, 1999 at the Michealsen Healthcare Center in Batavia.
Interment will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
She was united in marriage to Dean E. Butler in June 1943 at her parents home in Elgin. Margaret was a graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and received her master's degree at the University of Illinois in Champaign. She was an elementary school teacher in the Dekalb school system prior to her retirement in 1979. She was also amember of the Hillcrest Covenant Church in DeKalb.
She is survived by her brother, David Graupner of Elburn; niece,Linda Lee of Lino Lakes, Minn.; nephew, Scott (Cherry) Graupner of St. Charles; and several great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hillcrest Covenant Church, 1515 N. First St., DeKalb, IL 60115, or to Hospice of DuPage County, 609 E. North Ave., Carol Stream, IL 60188.

Donald L. Clute of Elgin
Memorial services for Donald L. Clute, 75, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, at Epworth United Methodist Church. Dr. Thomas Potenza will officiate.
Born June 22, 1924, in Oneonta, N. Y., the son of George and Angeline Clute, he died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital. Private interment will be in Washington Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in Elgin.
A resident of Elgin most of his life, he served as Kane County Auditor for 24 years, retiring in 1988. He then worked as a legislative aid for Delores Doederlein, Steven Rauschenberger and Doug Hoeft.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 8th Air Force in England, he was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and former member of the Elgin Jaycees and Elgin Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret; daughter, Candace (Jerry) Nering of Punta Gorda, Fla.; sons, David (Christine) Clute of Bailey, Colo. and Richard Clute of Elgin; and grandsons, Daniel and Patrick Clute.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at the time of the services only.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
Arrangements were made by Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.

Craig Anthony Colletti of West Dundee
Services for Craig Anthony Colletti, 10, will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m., at the Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 Hanson Rd., Algonquin.
Born March 6, 1989, in Park Ridge, he died Sunday July 11, 1999, at Fairview University Childrens Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn., following acourageous battle with Blackfan diamond anemia. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
He is survivedby his loving parents, Robert E. and Patricia (nee Calcogno) Colletti of West Dundee; brother, Robby; maternal grandmother, Rose Calcagno of Des Plaines; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by hismaternal grandfather, Frank Calcagno; paternal grandparents, George and Ethel Colletti; and cousin, Ryan Milinkovich.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., today, and on Thursday from 9 a.m., until the time of the services at the church.
The family strongly requests no flowers and memorials be made to the Craig Colletti Bone Marrow Fund, C/O The First National Bank, 218 W. Main St., West Dundee, IL 60118.
Arrangements were made by The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Joanne M. Cordes of Mount Prospect
A funeral Mass for Joanne M. Cordes (nee Barkus), 64, will be held Thursday, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Becket Church, 1321 Burning Bush Lane, Mount Prospect. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Born Oct. 4, 1934, in Chicago, she died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Holy Family Medical Center, Des Plaines. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Joanne was a school teacher, former president of the American Association of University Women, and a member of the Theta Alpha sorority at Loyola University.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Richard (Theresa), Robert, Kathleen and Karen; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Jendreau, and Timothy and Lauren Cordes.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mount Prospect.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John R. Crawford of Arlington Heights
A memorial visitation for John R. Crawford, 79, a resident of Arlington Heights for the past 50 years, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Services will be private.
Born April 29, 1920, in Boston, Mass., he died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at home. Interment will be private.
Mr. Crawford had retired in 1990 from UOP, Johnson Division, where he had worked as a chemical engineer. For many years he had been an avid handball player and continued to play bridge two or three times every week.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruthmary Crawford (nee Heffernan), whom he married May 2, 1943; daughters, Janet (Dick) Telvickof Madison, Wis., Susie (Terry) Layton of Long Grove, Nancy Crawford of Chicago and Linda (Kirk) Schneider of Crystal Lake; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Crawford of Wheeling.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alcoholics Anonymous or to donor's favorite charity.

Robert M. Cross, 48, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Arrangements were made by Steurle Funeral Home, Villa Park (630) 832-4161.

Gerald P. Culm formerly of Palatine
A memorial Mass for Gerald P. Culm, Attorney at Law, 56, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main St., St. Charles. Msgr. Robert B. Hoffman will be officiating.
Born April 22, 1943, in Chicago to Robert and Julia (Strzalka) Culm, he died Sunday July 11, 1999 at his residene in Wayne.
Mr. Culm served as trust council at Northern Trust Co. in Chicago, where he was employed for the last eight years.
Prior to joining Northern Trust Co., he held the position of general council at Continental Illinois Bank from 1967. Gerald received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. He also received a master's degree in taxation from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He was a member of St. John Neuman Catholic Church in St. Charles, and he was a member of the American Bar Association, the Fox Valley Estate Planning Group and the Fox Valley Notre Dame Alumni Club.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Haas); daughter, Sheila (Greg) Klostermann of Arlington Heights; son Geoff (Alice) Culm of Arlington Heights; and grandson Sean of Arlington Heights.
Memorial visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St., Geneva.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

Ted Czarnik formerly of Park Ridge
Mass for Ted Czarnik, 72, of Juneau, Wis., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Raymond Church, Elmhurst Road (Rt. 83) and Lincoln Street, Mount Prospect.
Born Dec. 22 1926, in Chicago, he died Monday July 12, 1999, in Niles.
Ted was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Park Ridge VFW Post #3579. He was a retired buyers representative for Zenith Electronics and was a member of the Zenith Pioneers.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Czarnik (nee Koch); children, Caroline (Robert) Pierski of Park Ridge and Jeanette (John) Blunda of Mount Prospect; and grandchildren, Kimberly, Thomas and Kristen Pierski and Michael and Andrea Blunda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroline (Roger) Allen and George Czarnik; and brothers,Jacob and Matthew Czarnik.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Friedrichs Funeral Home Inc., 320 W. Central Rd. (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the WGN Neediest Children's Fund.

Donald E. Deuster of Mundelein
Services for Donald E. Deuster, 69, of Sylvan Lake, Mundelein, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176),Libertyville, followed by a two-block walking procession led by a Dixieland band past his beloved gardens to the First Presbyterian Church for services at 10 a.m.
Born Sept. 26, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Bud and Dorothy Deuster, he passed away Saturday, July 10, 1999, at his home, from colon cancer. Interment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Milwaukee, following the services.
Mr. Deuster had been a Sylvan Lake resident for the past 35 years. A graduate of Ripon College in Wisconsin, he received his law degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and then served in the Army during the Korean War with the rank of first lieutenant.
Don began his career in the legaldepartment at Kemper Insurance Company as a legislative assistant to Mr. J. S. Kemper. He later became an administrative assistant to Congressman Robert McClory and a congressional liason for former president Richard Nixon. At that time, he worked for the U. S. Department of Transportation and was instrumental in passing the Amtrak bill. Don returned to Illinois in 1971 and became an elected state representative from 1973 to 1983. He later opened a law office in Libertyville and formed and served as president of the Young Republicans Club.
Don was a deacon, elder, teacher and current member of the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville. He was also past president and Paul Harris fellow of the Mundelein-Vernon Hills Rotary Club, former director for the Lake County YMCA, past president of the Fremont School PTA, and, in 1960, had his own television show on Channel 11 called `Get Into Politics. ' A man of many talents, Don was a master gardener, receiving an award from the Village of Libertyville for his gardens on Route 176. He was also an artist who loved to paint and a musician. Don played the trumpet as a child and was in `Ripley's Believe It or Not' as the `Youngest Trumpet Player' at age two.
He also played the piano `in the key of C. ' Don's favorite music was jazz, Dixieland and anything by Louis Armstrong.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Katharine B. Deuster of Sylvan Lake; daughters, Mary (Larry) Schmitt of Downers Grove, Ruth (Bill) Oran of St. Charles, Jane (Jerry) Nichilo of Wheaton and Anne Deuster of Sylvan Lake; and grandchildren, Michael and David Schmitt, Dylan and Kyle Oran, and Brian, Leah, Lauren and Jeff Nichilo.
Friends of the family may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Donations of flowers would be appreciated or contributions in his memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

James T. Donahue of Des Plaines
A funeral Mass for James T. Donahue, 88, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary Church, 794 Pearson, Des Plaines.
He died Monday, July 12, 1999, in Urbana. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Donahue was retired from real estate management.
He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanore Donahue (nee Langlois); loving father of Joseph (Katherine), Christopher (Diane), Sr. Karen, R. S. M., Jane (Raymond), and the late James and Judith; proud grandfather of Pierre, Simone, Carys, Mair Elisabeth, Elin, Joseph, Mary and James T.; dear brother of Mary Donahue Buckley and the late Ruth Donahue Huck; and brother-in-law of James (Marjorie) Langlois and Joan Nerge.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Rainbow Hospice, 444 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068, would be appreciated.

Elizabeth `Betty' Ehlen of Lake Forest
Services for Elizabeth `Betty' Ehlen (nee Hoffmann), 96, will begin with prayers at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at BurnettDane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville, and continue with Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Libertyville.
Born April 15, 1903, inChicago, she passed away Thursday, July 8, 1999, at the Westmoreland Home of Lake Forest Hospital. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, following Mass.
Formerly of Inverness and Des Plaines, Mrs. Ehlen had lived in Lake Forest for the past seven years. She was a former member of the Resurrection Hospital Auxiliary in Chicago.
Betty was a special mom to Mary Adams; dear grandmother of Michael Mulcrone; and great-grandmother of Tiffany, Kylee and Logan Mulcrone. Also surviving are her nieces, Lyn Westphal, Paula Geddes and Jean Merrill; and several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ehlen, in 1979; and sisters, Evelyn Klicka and Irene Schuler.
Friends of the family may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
