Richard A. Stanger of Wauconda
Memorial services for Richard A. Stanger, 69, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 25225 W. Ivanhoe Rd., Wauconda. Pastor Melanie Potuznik will officiate.
Born May 16, 1930, in Melrose Park, he died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Interment will be private.
Mr. Stanger retired from the Wauconda Fire Department after 22 years of service.
He was a former Little League coach and scoutmaster in Wauconda. He was one of the founding members of the Wauconda Pool Foundationand an occasional Santa Claus at Christmas.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (nee Grantham); children, Rick (Michele), Julie Quick, Michael (Cheryl) and Christopher (Rhonda); grandchildren, Jaclyn and Richard Grantham Stanger, Michael Quick II, Michael and Ryan Stanger, and Kyle and Justin Stanger; and brothers, Edward (Jean) and Bud (Martha).
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Social Member Club of Wauconda Fire Department, 109 W. Liberty St., Wauconda, IL 60084 or Wauconda Boosters, 555 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084.

Emma Steffensen
Funeral services for Emma Steffensen (nee Nelson), 92, formerly of Chicago and Venice, Fla., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 119 W. Wise Road, Schaumburg, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. David Langseth will officiate.
Born July 23, 1906, in Kenosha, Wis., she died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in Adams, Neb. Interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst.
She was the wife of the late Holger Steffensen; mother of Robert (Carol) Steffensen, Dagmar (Olaf) Ahlquist and Marilyn (Paul) Jersild; grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of 15.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dana College in Blair, Neb., or to the Danish Old Peoples Home, 5656 N. Newcastle, Chicago, IL 60631.

Edward D. Surroz of Grayslake
Services for Edward D. Surroz, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 285 E. Washington St., Grayslake.
Born April 14, 1922, in a coal-mining town in the Colorado mountains, he passed away Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at Lake Forest Hospital. Interment will be in Avon Centre Cemetery, Grayslake.
Ed lived in Grayslake for 29 years where he was very active in community affairs and founded the Grayslake Development Corporation. He established a men's breakfast meeting (TOMCATS) and served on the Lake County Economic Development Committee. Ed was a longtime member of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the Navy at the age of 18. A Navy man for 20 years, he quickly rose to the rank of chief machinist mate and served in World War II, surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor.
At the age of 38, Ed retired from the Great Lakes Naval Base and began a career in real estate, working as officer manager of Poe and Poe Real Estate until forming his own company, United Real Estate and later Surroz Construction. He also formed the Multiple Listing Service for Lake County.
Ed is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna; children, Dan Surroz, Keith (Sarah) Surroz and Deborah (Neil) Surroz-Weber; grandchildren, Brian, Stream, Bart and Gregory Weber, Steven Weber, Brett Weber, Hayleyanna Weber, and Rebecca and Ian; great-granddaughter, Haley; sister,Harriet (Chuck) Dobrunick; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends of the family may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quade Amyloidosis Research Fund, Mayo Clinic, c/o Donna Surroz, P. O. Box 391, Grayslake, IL 60030, in his memory.

Mary Tuytschaevers of St. Charles Services for Mary Tuytschaevers, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Patrick Mission Church, corner of Bolcum and Crane Road, St. Charles.
Born July 27, 1914, in New York, she died Monday, July 12, 1999, at home. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia.
A lifelong member of the church, she is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Claude) Reed of Houston, Texas; son, Thomas of St. Charles; and sisters, Madeline Burdick of Geneva, Julie VerVynck of St. Charles and Emma (John) Gebhardt of Skokie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Yurs FuneralHome, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles.

Russell J. Bobek of Elk Grove Village, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999. Arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village, (847) 640-0566.

Stephen J. `Steve' Vucinic Sr. of Plainfield and Park Ridge
Services for Stephen J. `Steve' Vucinic Sr., 85, will begin with prayers at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, and continue with Mass at 10:30 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 26 N. Ellsworth, Naperville.
Born March 14, 1914, in Chicago, he died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
Formerly of Park Ridge, Mr. Vucinic had been a resident of the Carillon in Naperville for one year. He was a lifelong musician and a member of the Croatian Music Hall of Fame. Mr. Vucinic was part of the original Balkan Recording Orchestra and was a tamburas player in Croatian orchestras of the Chicago and Indiana areas. He had also been a calligrapher for many years. He was a 50-year member of CFU Lodge #32 and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Catherine Vucinic (nee Coletta); sons, Stephen `Steve' (Lola) Vucinic Jr. of Lemont and Thomas (Susan) Vucinic of Burr Ridge; grandchildren, Donna (Patrick) Malone and Daniel and Sara Vucinic; great-grandchildren, Megan, Natalie and Seamus Malone; and sister-in-law, Lillian Vucinic of Park Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Adeline(nee Seperich) Vucinic; and brother, Michael Vucinic.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Milton H. Waxstein of Rolling Meadows
A memorial Mass for Milton H. Waxstein, 86, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 432 W. Park St., Arlington Heights.
Born Jan. 23, 1913, in Chicago, he died Tuesday, July 13, 1999. Interment will be private.
Mr. Waxstein was an active member of Our Lady of the Wayside Church and president of the Holy Name Society. Retired, he was vice president of sales at Garcy Corporation and designed store fixtures for major department stores.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores (nee Solodyna); children, Marcia (Leon) Moore, Martin Waxstein and Robert Waxstein; and grandchildren, William, Michael, Jenny, Madeleine and Kate.
In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60604, are appreciated.
Arrangements were made by SmithCorcoran Funeral Home, Palatine.

Robert J. `Bob' Young of Arlington Heights
A memorial Mass for Robert J. `Bob' Young, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. James Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
Born Dec. 28, 1923, in St. Paul, Minn., he died Monday, July 12, 1999, at home.
Interment will be private.
Bob had been employed for 40 years with the Milwaukee Railroad. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the DAV.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (nee O'Toole) Young; children, Janet (Craig) Thuneman, James (Diana) Young, Daniel Young, Jeffrey (Teri) Young, Douglas (Cindy) Young and Debra (Glen) Dunteman; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Rainbow Hospice, Inc., 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Suite 145, Park Ridge, IL 60068, are appreciated.

Roberta J. Billings of Wauconda
Funeral services for Roberta J. Billings (nee Dowell), 80, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main Street, Wauconda.
Born Mar. 26,1919, she died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Winchester House, Libertyville. Interment will be in the Wauconda Cemetery, Wauconda.
Mrs. Billings was a member of the Wauconda Township Historical Society.
She is survived by her children,Kay (Ted) Calloway of Wallins, Ky., John Joseph of Johnsburg, Ill., and Judy (James) Eschenbauch of Wauconda; and grandchildren, Ted and Carrie Calloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Hattie and George Dowell; brothers, Frank, William, and Raymond Dowell; and sisters, Mildred and Sarah Passfield and Irene Davlin.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wauconda Township Historical Society.

Dvyiante Raheem Blalark of Hanover Park
Funeral services for Dvyiante Raheem Blalark, 5, will be heldat 11 a.m. Monday, at the Living Gospel Church, 1515 Dundee avenue, Elgin. Rev. Walter Blalark will be officiating.
Born Sept., 10, 1993 in Elgin, the son of Charles E. Blalark Jr., and Keeda Johnson of Hanover Park. He passed away Wednesday July 14, 1999 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Jerrail Johnson of Hanover Park; sisters, Sabrina and Jasmine Blalark of Elgin; paternal grandparents, Charles (Darcella) Blalark Sr. and Brenda (James) Baker, both of Elgin; maternal grandfather, Fred Cole of Mount Vernon; and his aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, in infancy; and his maternal grandmother, Dwanda Johnson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until the time of the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Dorothy A. Boe of Lombard
Prayers for Dorothy A. Boe (nee Stoltz), 69, will be said at 9:30 a.m. today, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Lombard.
Born Aug. 23, 1929, in Chicago, she died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Queen of HeavenCemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Boe was a graduate of Jones Commercial High School and a member of St. Pius X Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Boe; children, David (Regina) Boe of Des Plaines and Heather Boe of Oak Brook; and brother, Frank Stoltz of Des Plaines.
