A funeral Mass for Donna Rose (nee DeWaele) will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Marcelline Church, 820 S. Springinsguth, Schaumburg.
Born July 8, 1956, in Chicago, she died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, in Baraboo, Wis. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
Manager of Java Junior in Des Plaines, she wasthe wife of Robert; mother of Keith Rose of Des Plaines, Christine Rose of Des Plaines and Cynthia Rose of Des Plaines; daughter of JoAnn and the late David DeWaele; daughter-in-law of Walter and Elaine Rose; and sister of Laura DeWaele, JoAnn (Johnny) Franzen, Lynda (Kenneth) Villwock, Karla (Michael) Kurek, Gregg (Keri) DeWaele and the lateDavid (Brenda) DeWaele.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Solomon `Solly' Scharf of Schaumburg
Funeral services for Solomon `Solly' Scharf, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 208 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
Born July 6, 1913, in Maywood, he died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.
Mr. Scharf was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was the beloved husband of Ella (nee Spomer), whom he married July 27, 1935; loving father of Joanne (John) Gorman and Mary (Walt) Kreitling; proud grandfather of Janet (Jeffrey) Kruse and Jeffrey (Sheila) Gorman; and great-grandfather of Jessica, Kathleen and Zachary.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Michael's Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church or to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 2185 Hampton Ave., St. Louis, MO 631399982.

Raymond A. Schorsch of Lakemoor
Services for Raymond A. Schorsch, 71, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry. Rev. Roger Olson will officiate.
Born March 8, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Edmund and Rose M. C. (nee Oldenburg) Schorsch, he died Friday, July 16, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Formerly of Chicago, he was a resident of Lakemoor for the past 29 years. As a young man, Ray worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and later at Stiffel Lamp Company. For many years, he was employed as a truck driver for Plymouth Paper Company and Ladney Motors, both in Chicago.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, BettyJean (nee Bubb), whom he married on July 19, 1947, at First German Baptist Church in Chicago; loving daughter, Rita J. (Ron) Ross of Lake In The Hills; grandchildren, Ron Jr. (Maria) Ross of Lake In The Hills, Ryan Ross of DeKalb and Robb Ross of Lake In The Hills; great-grandson, Tristyn Nicholas Ross; sister-in-law, Evelyn Schorsch of Chicago; and numerous loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Ray cherished his family and friends, and thought most caringly of all his neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth (late Frank) Fon; and brothers, Robert E. (late Violet) Schorsch and Henry H. Schorsch.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Lewis W. Solimene of Wauconda
Services for Lewis W. Solimene, 63, will begin with prayers at 9:15 a.m. Monday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at Transfiguration Church, 310 W. Mill St., Wauconda.
The Rev. Tom Enright will officiate.
Born Sept. 6, 1935, in Bronx, N. Y., he died Friday, July 16, 1999, in Cuba Township, Ill. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores Solimene; loving father of Mick (Keely) Solimene, Lori (Steve) Crane and Jennifer (Mike) Paul; proud grandfather of Alexandra, Arianna, Rachel, Victoria, Ryan, Will and Tyler; dear brother of Joseph (Kathy) and William (Nancy) Solimene; and fond uncle of Matthew and Josephine.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Bess A. Spencer of St. Charles
Services for Bess A. Spencer, 90, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at YursWittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Route 380, Geneva. Rev. Steve Miller will officiate.
Born Aug. 16, 1908, in Cicero, she died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Pine View Care Center in St. Charles. Private burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Stickney.
At the time of her retirement, Bess was employed by the Schoen-McAllister Department Store in Berwyn.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Roy; son, Richard (Eve) Spencer of Geneva; grandchildren, R. Scott (Kathe) Spencer and Susan Spencer; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Morgan and Adam; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will befrom 10 a.m. until the time of the services Monday, at the funeral home.

Florence A. Spitzer of Mundelein
A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence A. Spitzer, 94, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at Santa Maria del Popolo Church, 116 N. Lake St., Mundelein.
Born Nov. 25, 1904, in Chicago, she died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Interment will follow Mass, in St. Boniface Cemetery, Chicago.
Miss Spitzer had been a resident of Mundelein for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Mundelein Senior Center and the Santa Maria del Popolo Parish in Mundelein.
Survivors include her sister, Loretta (the late George) Luecker; brother, Robert (Helen) Spitzer; sister-in-law, Rita Spitzer; and nieces and nephews, Mary Therese (the late Al) Schaefer, Dolores (Fred) Steffens, Carolyn (Tulon) Stancil Sr., Bernadette Luecker, George (the late Donna) Luecker, Roberta `Bobbi' (Paul) Philipp, Robert (Rosanne) Spitzer, Thomas (Sharon) Spitzer, Cecilia (Thomas) O'Connor, Joan (Patrick) Schoenstene, and Marian (Dan) Hanekamp. She was also the great-aunt and great-great-aunt of many, and great-great-great-aunt of one.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph, and sister, Dorothy.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at Kristan Funeral Home P. C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein.
In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated.

Lydia Sumien of Ingleside
Services for Lydia Sumien (nee Mattes), 87, of Ingleside for the past 14 years, and formerly of Twain, Calif., and Glendale Heights, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, Ltd., 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake (the Chapel on the Lake).
Born Oct. 7, 1911, in Radomyschl, Ukraine, to Edward and Emila (nee Herriata) Mattes, she died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Sumien was a music teacher by profession and an accomplished pianist.
She also enjoyed cooking for her familiy and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Helen (Hadyn) Kerner of Ingleside;granddaughters, Monica A. (Rudy) Linder and Deborah A. Kerner; great-grandson, Hadyn D. Cortez; and brothers, Waldema (Rose Marie) Mattes of Little Falls, N. J., and Adolph Mattes of Ukraine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Sumien, in 1983; daughter, Eugenia Oponshcuk, in 1942; and sister, Zina Ada Mattes, in 1917.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Elisabeth Taylor of Arlington Heights
A Eucharistic Mass for Elisabeth Taylor, 98, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Simon Episcopal Church, 717 W. Kirchoff Rd., Arlington Heights.
Born April 2, 1901, in St. Louis, Mo., she died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Church Creek Nursing Center. Interment will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.
Retired from the U. S. State Department Foreign Service, she was stationed in Spain, Uruguay and Mexico. She was coowner of Silver Shuttle Weaving Shop in Georgetown, Washington, D. C. and past member of the North Shore Weavers Guild. She volunteered many hours at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, the Elgin Deanery Hispanic Ministry Commission, the Arlington Heights Historical Society Museum and Clearbrook Children Services. Miss Taylor taught ESL students and was a member of St. Simon's Church Choir.
She was the aunt of Harriet L. Mueller; daughter of the late Edgar and Ethel McNamarra Taylor; and sister of the late Sarah Taylor Leavitt.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the Mass Tuesday, at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Simon Episcopal Churchfor the Cathedral Shelter.

John V. Ward, 48, of Mundelein, died Friday, July 16, 1999. Arrangements were made by Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, Libertyville, (847) 362-3009.

John Louis Adamec of Lake Zurich
Services and interment for John Louis Adamec will be private.
John was born April 25, 1950, in Lansing, Mich. and died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Alden of Long Grove after a long and courageous battle with melanoma. For the last years, John was cared for by his loyal and devoted friends and family.
Mr. Adamec worked for Hines Lumber Company in Crystal Lake before his illness, which began in 1993. He had a strong appreciation for the simple things in life; fishing, guitar playing and spending time with family and friends were the things John enjoyed most.
John spent his last days with the people he loved. Survivors include his children, who meant the world to him, James Dean Adamec of Lake Zurich, Suzanne Ruth (Frank) Barbalace of Cary and Jessica Blue Adamec of Ingleside; and grandson, Jeremy Adamec. He was the youngest and only brother of Mary Ann (Gerald) Reichel of Arlington Heights and Jeanne (John) Kane of Lake Zurich. John was the dear son of Ruth and the late Louis Adamec. His close friends, Christine Adamec and Dianne Velasquez, will fondly remember him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
Arrangements were made by Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., Arlington Heights.

John F. Baka
A chapel service for John F. Baka will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Rd. ), Roselle. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
He was the beloved husband of Marie (nee Felton); loving son-in-law of Terese Felton; and dear brother of Riley (Pat), Jim (Barbara) and Paul Baka.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon today, at the funeral chapel.
Please omit flowers.

Roberta J. Billings of Wauconda
Funeral services for Roberta J. Billings (nee Dowell), 80, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main Street, Wauconda.
Born Mar. 26, 1919, she died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Winchester House, Libertyville. Interment will be in the Wauconda Cemetery, Wauconda.
Mrs. Billings was a member of the Wauconda Township Historical Society.
She is survived by her children,Kay (Ted) Calloway of Wallins, Ky., John Joseph of Johnsburg, Ill., and Judy (James) Eschenbauch of Wauconda; and grandchildren, Ted and Carrie Calloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Hattie and George Dowell; brothers, Frank, William, and Raymond Dowell; and sisters, Mildred and Sarah Passfield and Irene Davlin.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wauconda Township Historical Society.
