John V. Ward of Mundelein
Services for John V. Ward, 48, will begin with prayers at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville, and continue with Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake.
Born Feb. 9, 1951, in Peoria, he passed away Friday, July 16, 1999, at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Mr. Ward was a 1969 graduate of Bergan High School in Peoria. After attending St. Louis University, he graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Agriculture and Forestry in Carbondale. Following college, he worked for D. A. Hoerr & Sons Landscaping Company and Nursery in Peoria, and in 1980 became an employee of Abbott Laboratories. He was currently the vice president of sales for the Hospital Business Sector in the Hospital Products Division. John was a member of the St. Gilbert Parish in Grayslake and the Southern Illinois University Alumni Association, and was a member and former president of the Mundelein High School Academic Scholarship Committee.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn Ward (nee Cunningham) of Mundelein; daughters, Amy (Joshua) Trimble of Fayetteville, N. C., and Anne Ward of Mundelein; parents, Dr. Clarence and Mary Ward of Peoria; sister, M. Therese (Roger) Buie of Peoria; brothers, the Rev. Gerald T. Ward, pastor of St. Patrick of Merna Catholic Church in Bloomington, Ill., and Timothy (Jill) Ward of Peoria; and nieces, Lisa and Lindsay Buie of Peoria.
Friends of the familymay call from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mundelein High School Academic Scholarship Fund, 1350 W. Hawley, Mundelein, IL 60060, in his name.

Norman C. West Sr. of Batavia
Memorial services for Norman C. West Sr., 91, of Batavia, formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., will be held at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3910 Highland Ave., Downers Grove, at a day and time to be announced later.
Born Aug. 14, 1907, in Philadelphia, to George and Nellie (nee Colapy) West, he passed away Friday, July 16, 1999, at Provena Geneva Care Center, Geneva.
Mr. West was a retired police officer for the city of Philadelphia. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police #5 (Philadelphia-Germantown), a member of the Artisians, and a dedicated church member of the Mount Airy Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, where he was a choir leader and deacon. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and was also a Cubs fan.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret E. West; loving father of Norman (Mary Ann) West Jr. of Batavia; devoted grandfather of Tom West of Connecticut and Karen (Colin) Kane of Rhode Island; devoted stepgrandfather of Paul West of Illinois; great-grandfather of John Patrick and Hope Kane of Rhode Island; and fond uncle of many nephews and nieces throughout the United States.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William; daughter-in-law, Bernadette `Bunni'; several brothers; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Luke Presbyterian Church Remodeling Fund, 3910 Highland Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515.

John E. Wiegand of Long Grove
Eucharistic services for John E. Wiegand, 77, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, Schoenbeck and Hintz Roads, Prospect Heights.
Born Nov. 9, 1921 in Dexter, Minn., he died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at Claremont Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Wiegand was the owner and president of Jay's Hy-Lift Mfg. Company in Wheeling. He was also a 50-year member of Union Park Masonic Lodge #610 AF&AM and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner at the Medinah Temple. He was a veteran in World War II serving in the Seabees 96th Naval Construction Battalion.
He is survived by his wife, Adele (nee Grindler); daughter, Lynn (Wayne) Chmiel; grandchildren, Wayne (Elizabeth), Steven (Susan) and Daniel Chmiel; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Steven, Samantha Lynn, Christopher Madison, Timothy Daniel and Brian Scott Chmiel; and sisters, Dorothy Dienberg and Irma Maina.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and noon Wednesday until the time of the departure to the church, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling.
Memorials may be given to Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60635.

Mary A. Wilson of St. Charles
A memorial Mass for Mary A. Wilson, 79, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John Neumann Church, 2900 E. Main St., St. Charles. Rev. Edward J. Seisser will be officiating.
Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Maynard, Mass., to Joseph and Mary Byrne, she died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield.
Mrs. Wilson worked at home, raising her children and volunteering with the mentally retarded in Dayton, Ohio. Five years ago, Mary and her husband, Robert Wilson Jr., moved to St. Charles from Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a member of the National Bonsi Society, loved gardening, and loved the St. Charles Pottawatomie Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Bob Wilson; children, Maureen (Bill) Buchholz of St. Charles and Robert (Marie) Wilson III of Naples, Fla. and Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Robert Wilson IV, Christopher and BrianWilson and Stacey and Erica Buchholz; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Joe Wilson; and sisters, Liz, Kay and Aileen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers and sisters.
Contributions in Mrs. Wilson's memory may be made to Glenwood School for Boys, West, 41W400 Silver Glen Road, St. Charles, IL 60175.

William `Bill' Witek of North Chicago and Gurnee
A Mass of Christian Burial for William `Bill' Witek, 77, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Born Aug. 21, 1921, in North Chicago, he died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at his home. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
Mr. Witek had been a resident of North Chicago for most of his life and was a 1940 graduate of Waukegan Township HighSchool. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, now Queen of Peace Church, and had retired in 1980 from the Great Lakes Main Garage after 36 years of service. An Army veteran, he had served in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Witek was also a member of the U. S. Steel Retirees Club, the Slovenic Senior Citizens Club, the North Chicago Foss Park Senior Club and the Bowling League.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Witek (nee Cankar); son, Thomas Witek of Gurnee; daughter, Janice (Mark) Brogan of Gurnee; sisters, Anne Satterfield of Gurnee, Marcella Witek of North Chicago and Wanda Velkover of Waukegan; stepsister, Steffanie (Matt) Gawloski of Kenosha, Wis.; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Josephine Cankar; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sophie Witek; daughter, Mary Lynn, in 1969; and sister, Frances Glogovsky.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Salata Funeral Chapel, 729-14th St., North Chicago.

Evelyn S. Allison of Wheeling
Graveside services for Evelyn S. Allison (nee Swanson), 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Ridgewood Cemetery.
Born Sept. 25, 1915, in Chicago, she died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Lexington Health Care Center in Streamwood.
She was the wife of the late Roy W. Allison; mother of Gloriann Fredin and Sandra L. Allison; grandmother of Norette Allison, Heather Fredin and Alison Davis; and great-grandmother of Alan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society, are appreciated.

William C. Bahl of Elk Grove Village
Prayers for William C. Bahl, 85, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Rd. (three blocks south of Biesterfield Rd. ),Elk Grove Village. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Julian Eymard Church.
Born in Chicago, he died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Hospice House. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
A retired 35-year employee of the C. T. A., he was the husband of the late Anna L. (nee Barak); father of William P. (Rosalie) and Mary R. (Robert) Palmer; grandfather of Karen (John) Walsh, Lynn (John) Bjorvik, William A. (Theresa), Donald R. (Ester), Steven, Anthony (Sonya) and Brian; great-grandfather of 12; brother of Raymond (Betty) Blumenthal and Timothy (Gerri) Blumenthal; brother-in-law of Susan (late Tony) Kittle; and uncle and great-uncle of many.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Margaret M. Blocker of Round Lake
Services for Margaret M. Blocker (nee Baumhardt), 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Acacia Park Cemetery chapel, 7800 Irving Park Rd., Chicago.
Born April 23, 1918, in Chicago,she passed away Sunday, July 18, 1999, at home.
A Round Lake resident since 1991, she leaves her daughter, Joyce Hendershott of Round Lake; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marie Knippen of Kingman, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, Nov. 13, 1998; and son, Kenneth, in 1998.
Memorials may be made tothe American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., Grayslake.

John J. Brusich Jr. of Plainfield
Services for John J. Brusich Jr., 42, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at OvermanJones Funeral Home, 309 Joliet Rd., Plainfield.
Born April 8, 1957, in Chicago, he died Thursday, July 15, 1999, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Interment will be in Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield.
Survivors include his daughters, Nicole and Macy; mother, Lillian Brusich; sisters, Cynthia May and Janet (Dave) Terando; brothers, Michael (Norah) Brusich and Alan (Wendy) Brusich; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Brusich.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Mary Cagle of Lombard
A funeral Mass for Mary Cagle, 38, a resident of Lombard and formerly of Woodridge, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Irene Catholic Church, 28 W 531 Warrenville Road, Warrenville.
Born Sept. 1, 1960, in Ohio, she died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Hinsdale Hospital. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
Ms. Cagle was a 1978 graduate of Downers Grove High School and received a bachelor's degree from National Lewis Univeristy. She attended Ginger Creek Community Church.
Mary is survived by her mother, Helen Cagle of Kimberling, Mo.; and nine brothers and sisters, Bill (Cathy) Cagle of Ohio, Connie (George) Balogh of Arkansas, Rich (Caroline) Cagle of Texas, Jack (Debbie) Cagle of Addison, Janice Cagle of Carol Stream, Jim (Eileen) Cagle of West Chicago, Larry Cagle of Elk Grove Village, Denise (Chuck) Schmidt of Warrenville and Ken Cagle of North Aurora. Shewas also the much-loved aunt of 24 nieces and nephews and 15 greatnieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, William A. Cagle.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the church.
