Helen Morris formerly of Prospect Heights
A funeral Mass for Helen Morris (nee Haydas), 80, of Cartersville, Calif., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Alphonsus Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd., Prospect Heights.
Born Jan. 25, 1919, in Chicago, she died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
Mrs. Morris was a retired grade school teacher at St. Alphonsus School in Prospect Heights.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth I. Morris, he preceded her in death in 1973; mother of Kenneth (Marty), Thomas (Chris), Scott and Bruce (Nancy) Morris; sister of Josephine (late Roger) Smith, Rose (late Robert) Nelson, Sally Galati and Jeanette Harant; grandmother of 11; and great-grandmother of three.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass Wednesday, at the church.
Arrangements were made by Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, Arlington Heights.

Daniel J. O'Brien of Wauconda
A funeral Mass for Daniel J. O'Brien, 52, formerly of Libertyville, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville.
Born Dec. 17, 1946, in Chicago, he died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Hines V. A. Medical Center in Maywood. Burial will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
A lifelong Lake County resident, Mr. O'Brien had been employed as a business consultant, and servedas a commissioned officer with the Army in Germany.
Survivors include his children, Erin and Megan O'Brien; sisters, Patricia Ann (Dale) Wendt of Third Lake and Kathleen (Thomas) McLaughlin of Peoria; grandchildren, Riley and Devin Daniel O'Brien; and dear friend, Carol Krol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Jeanette (nee McMahon); and sister, Karen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville.

Betty Jane O'Keefe of Plainfield
Services for Betty Jane O'Keefe (nee Kerr), 65, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at New Life Lutheran Church, 249 N. Bolingbrook Drive (Route 53), Bolingbrook. Pastor Paul Carlson will officiate.
Born April 27, 1934, in Doylestown, Pa., she died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be in Wheaton Cemetery, Wheaton.
A very active member of New Life Lutheran Church in Bolingbrook, she taught for more than 30 years at the Herbert H. Humphrey School in Bolingbrook and enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include her sons, Kevin (Deborah) O'Keefe of Bartlett and Tim (Lesli) O'Keefe of Naperville; granddaughter, Kelly; and brother, Lew (Lynn) Kerr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Kerr.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Memorials to the Kidney-Cancer Association, 1234 Sherman Ave., Suite 203, Evanston, IL 60202, would be appreciated.

Rudy Paulus of Hoffman Estates
Services for Rudy Paulus, 66, will be held at 8 p.m. today, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Rev. Tom Maluga will officiate.
There will also be a memorial service held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
Born Dec. 1, 1932, in Jakarta, Indonesia, he died Saturday, July 17, 1999, in Schaumburg. Burial will be private.
Mr. Paulus was a loyal employee of AT&T for 29 years.
He is survived by his son, John `J. P. ' Paulus of Chicago.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Caroline Pohlman formerly of Mount Prospect
Funeral services for Caroline Pohlman, 91, of Manitowoc, Wis., will be held at 7 p.m. today, at Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc. Rev. Robert Kujawski will officiate.
Born July 18, 1907, in Mount Prospect, the daughter of William H. and Caroline Russell Pohlman, she died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Rivers Bend Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc. A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Mount Prospect.
Caroline attended schools in Mount Prospect and moved to Manitowoc in 1984. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.
Survivors include her sisters, Edna Sieber of Manitowoc and Erna Gruebnau of Arlington Heights.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Pohlman; and brothers-in-law, Reuben Sieber and Richard Gruebnau.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the services today, at the funeral home.
Memorials to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, are appreciated.

Ruth G. Skinner of East Dundee
Graveside services for Ruth G. Skinner, 88, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Dundee Township East Cemetery, East Dundee. The Rev. Pamela F. Pendexter will officiate.
Born June 5, 1911, in Chicago, she died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Asta Care Center in Elgin.
A member of First Congregational Church of West Dundee, she is survived by her husband of 48 year, Robert E., whom she married on Nov. 8, 1950; and daughter, June Moore of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Bernice.
Arrangements were made by Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Ralph `Frank' Spaulding of Wheaton
Visitation for Ralph `Frank' Spaulding, 63, will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton.
He died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
Mr. Spaulding had been a resident of Wheaton for 20 years. As a commander in the Navy, he served for years in the Pacific and later volunteered for the Vietname War where he received the Purple Heart. He finished his 20 years of service in the Naval Reserves. Mr. Spaulding was also a 30-year employee of Household Finance, retiring in 1996 as vice president of employee benefits.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Patricia Spaulding; children, Matthew and Steven Spaulding and Nehal (Cathy) Bokhari; grandchildren, Christopher, Adam and Kyle Bokhari; and sister, Priscilla (Gordon) Hill of Florida.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Box 135, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.

Leonard Suvick of Ingleside
Services for Leonard Suvick, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born Feb. 27, 1919, in Chicago, he died Friday, July 16,1999, at Lutheran General Hospital. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery.
Mr. Suvick was a retired lithographer and member of the Park Ridge VFW.
He was the husband of the late Geraldine (nee Struck); father of Richard (Gayle) Suvick of Ingleside and Lynn Suvick-Horn of Algonquin; brother of the late Bruno, Benny, Helen, Virginia, Marge and Gertrude; stepgrandfather of Treavor Warren and Nicole (Mark) Urban; and cousin of Sophie Laske.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Elisabeth Taylor of Arlington Heights
A Eucharistic Mass for Elisabeth Taylor, 98, will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, at St. Simon Episcopal Church, 717 W. Kirchoff Rd., Arlington Heights.
Born April 2, 1901, in St. Louis, Mo., she died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Church Creek Nursing Center. Interment will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.
Retired from the U. S. State Department Foreign Service, she was stationed in Spain, Uruguay and Mexico. She was coowner of Silver Shuttle Weaving Shop in Georgetown, Washington, D. C. and past member of the North Shore Weavers Guild. She volunteered many hours at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, the Elgin Deanery Hispanic Ministry Commission, the Arlington Heights Historical Society Museum and Clearbrook Children Services. Miss Taylor taught ESL students and was a member of St. Simon's Church Choir.
She was the aunt of Harriet L. Mueller; daughter of the late Edgar and Ethel McNamarra Taylor; and sister of the late Sarah Taylor Leavitt.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of the Mass today, at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Simon Episcopal Church forthe Cathedral Shelter.

Martha A. Vanthournout of St. Charles
A funeral Mass for Martha A. Vanthournout, 87, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Patrick Church, St. Charles. Rev. Joseph Linster will officiate.
Born May 9, 1912, in St. Charles, she died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Geneva Care Center, Geneva. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
Mrs. Vanthournout was a lifelong resident of the St. Charles area. She married her husband Albert A. Vanthournout on April 25, 1936, at St. Patrick Church in St. Charles. They lived on a dairy farm on Dunham Rd. in St. Charles until 1956, when they moved to a farm on McDonald Rd. in Elgin. She was a member of St. Patrick Church and was the first baby baptized there.
She is survived by her sons, Albert J. of Washington D. C., Gerald A. (Marilyn) of Evansville, Wis. and David M. of Demotte Ind.; daughters, Diane (Bill) Menees of DeKalb, Joan (Bill) Schuppenhauer of St. Charles and Roseann (John) Churchill of New Lenox; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1992; and sisters, Clementine LeCouter and Marguerite Cailliau.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St. St. Charles, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Clarence R. Veldman, 76, of Wheaton, died Sunday, July 18, 1999. Arrangements were made by Knollcrest Funeral Home, Lombard, (630) 932-1500.

Jack Thomas Wade
Services for Jack Thomas Wade, the infant son of Michael and Tammy (nee Ballowe) Wade ofKenosha, Wis., will be held on Thursday, in the chapel at Acension Cemetery, Libertyville.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Tom and Sandi Ballowe of Libertyville and Kay (Denis) Wikel and Bill (Marilyn) Wade, both of Kenosha, Wis.
Arrangements were made by McMurrough Chapel, Libertyville.

John E. Wiegand of Long Grove
Eucharistic services for John E. Wiegand, 77, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church, Schoenbeck and Hintz Roads, Prospect Heights.
Born Nov. 9, 1921 in Dexter, Minn., he died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at Claremont Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Wiegand was the owner and president of Jay's Hy-Lift Mfg. Company in Wheeling. He was also a 50-year member of Union Park Masonic Lodge #610 AF&AM and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner at the Medinah Temple. He was a veteran in World War II serving in the Seabees 96th Naval Construction Battalion.
He is survived by his wife, Adele (nee Grindler); daughter, Lynn (Wayne) Chmiel; grandchildren, Wayne (Elizabeth), Steven (Susan) and Daniel Chmiel; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Steven, Samantha Lynn, Christopher Madison, Timothy Daniel and Brian Scott Chmiel; and sisters, Dorothy Dienberg and Irma Maina.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and noon until the time of the departure to the church Wednesday, at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling.
Memorials may be given to Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60635.

Darren Rokell Wilder Jr. of Elgin
Services for Darren Rokell Wilder Jr., six weeks, will be held Wednesday morning at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel, Elgin.
Born May 30, 1999, in Elgin, he died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Sherman Hospital. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Survivors include his parents, Darren R. Wilder Sr. and Angel Thomas of Elgin; brother, Toney Wilder at home; maternal grandmother, Althea Spates of Elgin; and paternal grandparents, Juanita and Billy Binion and Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Wilder, all of Elgin.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral chapel.
