Jack Divine
PALESTINE - Jack L. Divine, 66, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., of a stroke.
He was a boilermaker and commander of the AMVETS Post 33. He was a member of Robinson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4549, Flat Rock American Legion Post 132, 40 et 8 Club and Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are three daughters, Jacqueline Griffith of Vincennes, Lucinda "Cindy" Divine of Palestine and Susan Hawkins of rural Robinson; three sons, Doug of Palestine, and Chris and John, both of Scott Air Force Base; three sisters, Sharon Hoke of Lawrenceville, Mary Ann Kent of Birds and Judy Kennedy of Bloomfield, Ind.; four brothers, Noble Jr. of Lawrenceville, Richard of Loogootee, Ind., Fred of Evansville and Steve of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Price Cemetery
in Russellville, with military rites.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Goodwine Funeral Homes.

"Bill" Carver
PALESTINE - John William "Bill" Carver, 71, of Kenton, Ohio, formerly of Palestine and Robinson, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton of complications of Alzheimer's disease and a heart condition.
He retired from Marathon Oil Co. in the maintenance department, was a professional house painter,
Korean War Navy veteran and a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of seven years, Marilyn Harford Albert; a daughter, Jane Bryan of Terre Haute, Ind.; three stepdaughters, Jean Wichele of West Palm Beach, Fla., Diane Albert of Los Alamos, N.M., and Sharon Ault of Kenton; a son, W. Todd Carver of Adrian, Mich.; a stepson, Jeremy Albert of Forest, Ohio; two brothers, Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jim of Palestine; four grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
His first wife, Sue (Clark), died in 1992.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in Palestine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Vallie Mitchell
SUMNER - Vallie F. (Wood) Mitchell, 93, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Giles; a daughter, Kathryn Berry of rural Sumner; a son, Waymond of rural Francisville; a sister, Jimmie Nutter of Grove, Okla.; a brother, Robert C. Wood of Ozark, Ark.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Sumner City Cemetery.

William Goodart
MOUNT CARMEL - William R. Goodart, 66, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Wabash General Hospital of liver disease.
He was the owner and operator of a Mobil Oil distributorship, served as a city commissioner and was on the zoning board.
He was an
Army veteran, active in youth baseball in Wabash County and was a member of the Eagles, Elks and Moose lodges.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Susan A. (McClure); a daughter, Sherry L. Perry of Mesa, Ariz.; a son, William R. Jr. of Indianapolis; his mother, Lois A. Goodart; a sister, Margaret Brookheart of Mount Carmel; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Quinton and Corran.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Short Funeral Home.

D.J. Wood
FAIRFIELD - D.J. Wood, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital of complications of pneumonia.
He had been a school teacher, World War II veteran and member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara (DeKalb); two daughters, Cathy Roth of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Susie Wood of Champaign; a son, Mike of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Margie Marks of Chevy Chase, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, burial pending.

Wilber Moye
ELDORADO — Wilber R. Moye, 102, formerly of Norris City, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Fountain View Nursing Home.
He was a teacher and a farmer, a member of Shawneetown Emmanuel Methodist Church and an 80-year member of Ridgway Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Surviving are two daughters, Hilda Sanders of Shawneetown and Laura Jo Hill of Prescott, Ariz.; a son, Lee of Carmi; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Blanche (Glascock), died last year, and a daughter, Dona McArthy, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway, with burial in Asbury Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a 5 p.m. Masonic service.
Beatrice Renshaw
CARMI — Beatrice "Bea" (Cameron) Renshaw, 74, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of complications of cancer.
She was a registered nurse and a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Ray; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kuykendall Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home.

Mary Barr
McLEANSBORO — Mary Madeline (Girard) Barr, 94, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center.
She was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church and Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons, Donald of McLeansboro and Jerry of rural Dahlgren; three grandchildren, Joyce Jones, Cindy Phillips and Keith Barr; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Rosier, died in 1985.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Middle Creek Baptist Church, with burial in Middle Creek Cemetery.

James Birch
ELIZABETHTOWN — James Roland Birch, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare of pneumonia.
He retired as a fluorspar miner, was an
Army veteran and member of the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosemary Williams and Sarah Brown, both of Elizabethtown; a brother, Richard of Belknap; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Ava (Willis), preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare, with burial in Peter's Creek Cemetery.
Mary Paul
MOUNT CARMEL — Mary Helen Paul, 95, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Shurtleff Manor Nursing Home.
She had worked as an aide for the Shurtleff Cottage Nursing Home and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Carmel.
Surviving are a sister, Edna Martin of Gaylesburg, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.
