CARMI - Helen (Darnell) Gwaltney, 77, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

She was a farm wife and had owned and operated a grocery and general merchandise store.

Surviving are her husband, J.T.; a daughter, Brenda Pyle; a son, Larry; a sister, Ruth Knight; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home, burial in Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

Edward Hannel

BRIDGEPORT - Edward Hannel, 95, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Lawrence Community Healthcare.

He had been a farmer and worked for the Ohio Oil Co.

Surviving are a daughter, Doris Gosnell; and nine grandchildren.

Graveside services 11 a.m. Thursday in Sumner City Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Cunningham Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Church.

Jean Nelson

BROWNS - Jean (Lankford) LaVange Nelson, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her residence.

Surviving are three daughters, Diana Outlaw, Donna Peter and Audrey Christian; a brother, Robert Lankford; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nale's Funeral Home in Albion, burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Browns Christian Church.

Larry Pritchett

CARRIER MILLS - Larry "Butch" Pritchett, 53, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at his home.

He owned and operated Gallatin County Painters.

Surviving are a daughter, Dietra Pritchett; two sisters, Sandra Sanders and Patsy Fryberger; two brothers, Jack and Dean; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, burial in Palestine 2 Cemetery in Omaha. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Floyd Shetler

ROSICLARE - Floyd Shetler, 95, of Indianapolis formerly of Rosiclare, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in Indianapolis.

He was a carpenter.

Surviving are a daughter, Wilma Smith; a son, Robert; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Hosick Funeral Home.

George Vincent

McLEANSBORO - George "Slim" Vincent, 73, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at his home.

He was a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Bulah; four daughters, Wanda Moore, Geraldine Hutcheson, Brenda Robertson and Ronda Glenn; a son, Allen; six sisters, Jean Smith, Martha Asberry, Jackie Wells, Lenora Kemplen, Brenda Mueller and Linda Porter; and 10 grandchildren.

Graveside services 10 a.m. today in Digby Hill Cemetery. Harre Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Sharon Young

FAIRFIELD - Sharon Sue Young, 53, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her home.

Surviving are her husband, Earl; a son, David; four sisters, June McCullough, Betty Webb, Judy Downer and Jennie Wylie; two brothers, Ed and Jack Williams; and five grandchildren.

Johnson Funeral Home handled the arrangements. The body was cremated. Memorial services are pending.

Wilma Dossett

MOUNT CARMEL - Wilma L. (Turner) Dossett, 79, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at her home.

She had been a supervisor at a sewing factory.

Surviving are a son, Ray York; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elledge Funeral Home in Enfield, burial in McIntosh Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southeastern Illinois Hospice.

Stanley Novakoski

ROBINSON - Stanley J. "Sarge" Novakoski, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Crawford Memorial Hospital of an apparent ruptured ulcer.

He retired from the Army and had been a dispatcher for the sheriff's department.

Surviving are three daughters, Stanetta J. Novakoski, Normella Moore and Dorena Beckerman; three sons, Stanley B. William and Anthony W. "Tony"; three sisters, Betty Schimmelbusch, Bernadine Davis and Theresa Gentile; two brothers, Bernard and William; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pulliam Funeral Home, burial in Kirk Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Oblong Athletic Booster Club.

Catherine Winter

CARMI - Catherine (Renschler) Winter, 85, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at White County Medical Center.

She had worked for the Ainsbrook Sewing Factory.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Nixon; a sister, Anna South and a grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in White County Memorial Garden.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Bonnie Ferrell

ROSICLARE - Bonnie Jean (Walker) Ferrell, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Cumberlin Elder Care in Clarksville, Tenn., of a stroke.

Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Jones; a brother, Conrad Walker; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home, with burial in Flourine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
