Clifford Womack

Clifford Curry Womack, 93, of Du Quoin, formerly of South Beloit, died at 7 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 1996 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Mr. Womack was born November 27, 1902 in Oldtown, Kentucky, the son of Benjamin Ward and Gertrude (Curry) Womack. He married Myrtle Meta Korb on May 31, 1924 in Clinton, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on June 20, 1994. He was an electrician at Gardener Machine Company, retiring in 1968. He was a 50-year member of Freeport Consistory and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin and a regular visitor at the Gold Plate.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana Womack-Walters and husband David of Du Quoin, and Merea Johanssan and husband Preben of Fort Walton Beach, Fl.; a son-in-law, Robert Hessenberger of St. Anne, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kevin (Penny) Schultz of Milton, Wis., Robert (Stella) Hessenberger of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Linda (Bill) Linn of Bourbonnais, Christine (Monty) Gray of Lebanon, Mo., Raymond S. Linzee IV and Wendee Womack-Linzee, both of Du Quoin; eight great-grandchildren, Allison and MacKenzie Schultz, Andraea and Nicholas Hessenberger, Brett and Jessica Linn, Amanda Gray and Talion Dane Linzee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, daughter Mabel Hessenberger and grandson Marc Schultz.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 1996 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Timothy Mech officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. until time of services. Interment will be in the Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in South Beloit. Searby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.

Evelyn Pearl Thomas

Evelyn Pearl Thomas, 80, of Royalton died at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 1996 at her home.

Mrs. Thomas was born May 15, 1996 in Royalton, the daughter of George Matthew and Iva Bell (Gladden) Walden. She married James Cullman Thomas on October 12, 1935 in Royalton, and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of the Royalton United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens.

Survivors include a three daughters, Sharon Pinkerton of Royalton, Marie Broshears and husband James of Royalton, and Peggy Carpenter and husband Don of Zeigler; four grandchildren, Mick Pinkerton of Hurst, Angie Webb of Royalton, Donnie Carpenter of Zeigler and Amy Furlow of Christopher; two great-granddaughters, Jessica Webb and Courtney Webb of Royalton; and two brothers, Roy Walden of Marseilles and Lawrence Walden of Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Barbara Jean Thomas, sisters Emma Parrish, Arla Ray and Clova Ross, and brothers Raymond, Fred and Jean Walden.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 1996 at the United Methodist Church in Royalton. Interment was in Miner's Cemetery in Royalton. Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton was in charge of arrangement. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church building fund.

Albert W. Pursell

Albert W. Pursell, 63, of Pinckneyville died on Friday evening, October 11, 1996 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Pursell was born October 22, 1912 in Pinckneyville, the son of Perry and Lena (Birkner) Pursell. He married Florence Mildred Kelley on October 31, 1934 in Anna, and she survives. He was retired from the My-T-Fine Pudding factory after 21 years and was previously employed at Pyramid Coal Mine in Pinckneyville and Swift Packing Company in East St. Louis. He was a lifelong resident of Pinckneyville and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of Pinckneyville; a son, Albert E. Pursell and wife Ferol of Waseca, Wis.; a daughter, Janice Eckols and husband Don of Pinckneyville; a brother, Grayell Pursell of Pinckneyville; three sisters, Myrna Buckner, Elizabeth Trefts and Hazel Miller, all of St. Louis; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard and Arthur L. and a sister, Bessie Buckner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 1996 at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville with Dr. William C. Rook officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pyatt Funeral Home or after 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Pinckneyville or the Mary Kuykendall Carpenter Heart Fund Memorial.

Kermit J. Rheinecker

Kermit J. Rheinecker, 81, of Pinckneyville died on Tuesday morning, October 8, 1996 in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Mr. Rheinecker was born October 15, 1914 in Pinckneyville, the son of Benjamin and Frances (Eisenhauer) Rheinecker. He married Lydia Marie Lunneman on May 10, 1938, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 1978. He was a lifelong resident of the Pinckneyville area and worked as a farmer and insurance adjuster for Randolph Mutual. He served as a director for Randolph Mutual for 42 years, was a member of the Pinckneyville High School Board for 12 years, school board member on Consolidated #205 school for 13 years, treasurer of the Perry County Fair Board for over 20 years, a member of the Trico Lions Club and an avid Pinckneyville basketball fan.

Survivors include three sons, Don Rheinecker and wife Ann Beth of Sparta, Ralph Rheinecker and wife Karen of Percy, and Tom Rheinecker and wife Janet of Cutler; a sister, Cecilia Welsch of Pinckneyville; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by a dear friend, Juanita Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Armin and infant son James.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 1996 at Pyatt Funeral Home with Rev. John Venegoni officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville High School Athletic Program.

Earl Gossman

Earl Gossman, 85, of Pinckneyville died on Tuesday, October 8, 1996 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Mr. Gossman was born October 24, 1910 in Pinckneyville, the son of Fred J. and Josephine (Dintelman) Gossman. He married M. Luella Elledge in November, 1929, and she preceded him in death on September 2, 1960. He later married Dorliss Stickels and she also preceded him in death. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Sr. Paul's United Church of Christ, the United Mine Workers of America, Eagles Lodge, and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Coburn and husband Tom of Lockport; a son, Mervin Gossman of Dupo; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Linze and Geraldine Erwin, both of Pinckneyville; and a cousin and special friend, Helen Hertel of Tamaroa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brothers William "Bud" Gossman and Fred Gossman, and a sister, Edna Rice.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 1996 at Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery.

Jelks

DECATUR -- Floyd Jelks Sr., 80, of Decatur died Saturday (April 7, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital.

Farewell services will be noon Saturday in First Church of God in Christ with Pastor Allen officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Service and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jelks was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Brownsville, Tenn., the son of Willie Jelks and SaraEtta Rivers Jelks. He accepted Christ as his personal savior July 25, 1993, and was a member of First Church of God in Christ, serving as deacon and member of the male
chorus. His hobbies included collecting antiques and gardening. He worked at Wabash Railroad and then Borg Warner for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He married Wadie V. Bond.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Floyd Jr. (Rosa), J.C. (Minister Ora Lee), Celonia Joe (Bessie), Milan (Debra), Thurman (Carolyn) and Noah (Margaret); daughter, Lucille (Melvin) Anderson; brother, Paul (Ardelia) Jelks; sisters, Lettie Mae (Pastor Matthew) A
llen and Ora T. (Robert) Spates; sisters-in-law, Betty and Mary; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Linton

DECATUR -- Jean Linton, 82, Decatur, retired from Myers Industries, died Tuesday (April 10, 2001).

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation was Thursday. Burial: Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Ronald McDonald House of Springfield or St. Jude Children's Hospital of Memphis.

Rosetto

NIANTIC -- Richard Victor Rosetto Sr., 72, of Niantic died 10:35 a.m. Thursday (April 12, 2001) in his home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Niantic United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes and one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery, Niantic, with military rites by Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: Niantic United Methodist Church Bus Fund or Salvation Army Christmas Fund.

Richard was born Sept. 24, 1928, in Decatur, the son of Victor J. and Grace Francis Sunderlick Rosetto. He was an active member of Niantic United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion. He was former mayor of Niantic for nine years, was a volunteer for the Fire Department of Niantic and a volunteer for Baby Love. Richard retired from Macon County Health Department after 20 years as an inspector and had worked 20 years for Sentinel Pest Control. He was an avid collector of marbles and pock
et knives, attending many flea markets, and he loved playing Santa Claus at Christmas. He married Bernice Ruth Dotson Dec. 25, 1952, in Niantic United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife; children, Richard V. Rosetto Jr. and wife Cindy of Chillicothe; Cheri Holsapple and husband Monte of Macon; Joy Rosetto of St. Louis, Mo.; Jane Peterson and husband James of Forsyth; Anthony Rosetto and wife Ann of Springfield; brother, Robert Rosetto of Decatur; sisters, Wanda Babb of Oreana; Levada Daniels of Decatur; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Adams

DECATUR -- Eddie Louis Adams, 57, of Decatur died Tuesday (April 10, 2001) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Walker Funeral Service and Chapel with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Eddie was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Brownsville, Tenn., to the union of Jimmie Joe and Ineil Bradford Adams.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his daughters, Rochelle Wellington and Doris Adams, both of St. Louis; sons, Darren Adams of St. Louis; Antonio Adams of St. Louis; brother, Pastor Jerry (Gail) Adams of Decatur; sisters, Amy Adams and Julie Pugh, both of Brownsville; Josephine (Ben) VanBuren of St. Louis; Lucille Jones of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Glenda and Annie Ree Adams, both of St. Louis; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Rose

DECATUR -- Mitchell Gene "Bill" Rose, 69, of Decatur died Wednesday (April 11, 2001).

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Graceland Cemetery. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Maranatha Assembly of God.

Bill was born July 2, 1931, in Decatur, the son of Wendell Howard and Frances Marie Humphrey Rose. He was a retired construction driver for Teamsters.

Surviving are his brother, Wendell Dean and wife Darlene Rose of Carmi; nieces, Debra Sue Pattison and husband Alfred; Daphne Ruterford and fiancee Curt Carter; DeAnn Rose; Dawn Rose; Denise and husband Jack Rogers; three great-nieces; three great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Mitchell G. Rose Jr.

Spafford

DECATUR -- Rosalie E. Spafford, 74, Decatur, died Tuesday (April 10, 2001).

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Monday, Graceland Cemetery. No visitation. Arrangements by: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

Rybolt

Vivian Eleanor Rybolt, 80, Decatur, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001). Survivors: sisters, Betty Stafford and Delores Parrise, both of Decatur; Mary Crist of Eureka Springs, Ark. Preceded by: parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Graceland Cemetery. Visitation: 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Graceland/ Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials: American Cancer Society.

Sheay

DECATUR -- Lawrence F. "Larry" Sheay, 61, of Decatur died 8:10 a.m. Thursday (April 12, 2001) in his home.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, where his friends may call noon to service time. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Racers for Christ, in care of Chaplain Glenn Kreider, 976 Coyote Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.

Larry was born July 23, 1939, in Pana, the son of Fred and Mary Kennedy Sheay. He retired after 35 years of service with A.E. Staley Mfg. Co., where he was a forklift operator. He was known throughout the United States as a longtime member of the National Hot Rod Association. He was the winner of three events at the NHRA nationals in his well-known car, "Wild Child." Larry was a member of Mount Zion Lions club. He married Sheryl Rae Whittenberg Maxey Aug. 20, 1994.

Surviving are his wife; son, Eric Maxey and wife Vicki of Mount Zion; daughter, Renee Maxey of Lincoln; grandson, Zachary; sister, Gerri Rych and husband Jim of Delaware, Ohio; five nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Spinner

DECATUR -- David Lynn Spinner, 58, of Decatur died 1:50 a.m. Wednesday (April 11, 2001) in his home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes and one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lutheran School Association or donor's choice.

David was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Decatur, the son of Merle H. and Cloe Lipe Spinner. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Refrigeration Service Engineering Society. He worked for Spinner Refrigeration & Co., then Local 65, Plumbers & Steamfitters for 40 years. He most recently worked for Burdick Co. He married Donna Lee Heinkel June 20, 1965, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Jenny Spinner of Willimantic, Conn., and fiance Peter McGahey of Philadelphia, Pa.; Jackie Spinner of Washington, D.C.; son, Tim Spinner of Charleston; mother, Cloe Spinner of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Robert Spinner and Larry Spinner.
