DECATUR -- Constance Bielefeld, 102, of Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of Decatur, passed away April 12, 2001.
Services were held in California. Hulls Chapel, Walnut Creek, handled arrangements.
Mrs. Bielefeld was born Jan. 30, 1899, in Chicago. Connie was beloved and adored, the most wonderful, thoughtful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Connie lived in Decatur 54 years and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She shared 65 years of marriage with her husband, Marshall, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her loving children, Joan Collins of Walnut Creek; Roger Bielefeld of Dallas, Texas; sister, Ethyl Bowman of Long Grove; grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Collins, Douglas and David Bielefeld and Dana Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Catherine Rowlett and David Marshall Bielefeld.
"God saw that she was getting tired and cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered, 'Come with Me.' With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and we watched her fade away. Although we loved her dearly we couldn't make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands were put to rest. God breaks our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best."

DECATUR -- Marshall H. Ledbetter, 78, of Decatur passed away 12:25 a.m. Saturday (April 28, 2001) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oreana, with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to DMH

Marshall was born March 25, 1923, in Macomb, Okla., the son of Marshall H. and Myrtle Mae Henderson Ledbetter. He retired in 1985 after 12 years of service from K-Mart in Decatur. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the Marine Corps. He was a life member of VFW Post 99 and a member of G.M. Square neighborhood group. Marshall married Rolina "Toby" Ragsdale Toberman April 29, 1972, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, "Toby"; daughter, Phylis Jean of California; son, Terry O'Malie and wife Christina of Snoqualmie, Wash.; daughter, Monica Prior and husband Steve of Lake Villa; son, Timothy O'Malie of Florida; stepdaughter, Nancy L. Skelton of Decatur; brother, Waymond Ledbetter and wife Marjorie of Decatur; three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, son, Danny Ledbetter, and stepdaughter, Jane Albert.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice and Aspen Ridge Care Centre nurses, who made life more bearable, to Leslie for her words of comfort, to Dr. Mario Valasco and good friend and neighbor Millie Moss.

DECATUR -- Ivan Dean Pratt, 74, of Decatur went to be with the Lord at 9 a.m. Friday (April 27, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials: Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Mr. Pratt was born March 19, 1927, in Pearl, the son of Jeffery and Cleta Cooley Pratt. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a World War II Navy veteran. He married Helen Louise Burget Feb. 16, 1946. She preceded him in death July 29, 1980. He then married Bernice Coomes July 13, 1987.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Danny Pratt and wife Susan of Tucson, Ariz.; Dale Pratt of Peoria; daughter, Donna Myers and husband Tom of Mount Zion; stepchildren, Margaret Gipson and husband Bob of Boody; Carol Rollinger of Decatur; Ricky Marshall and wife Roxie of Niantic; Kathy Cooley of Atwood; Donna Winholtz and husband Tom of Decatur; Debbie Ellis of Decatur; sister, Maxine Hohimer and husband Bill of Girard; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepmother, Ella Pratt of Decatur; stepfather, Milton Dorks of Girard; mother-in-law, Elnora Fortune of Evansville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one son and one brother.
He will be missed by all of his loved ones.

DECATUR -- Danny J. Nelson, 45, of Danville, formerly of Decatur, died April 21, 2001.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday in Crouch Cemetery, McLeansboro. Memorials: Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund.
Dan was born Aug. 10, 1955, in Eldorado, the son of Cecil E. and Helen J. Muehlenbein Nelson. He and his parents moved to Decatur in 1956. Dan spent most of his life in Decatur, graduating from Eisenhower High School and Millikin University. He was currently employed in the Lab at Dyna Chem Corp. in Danville, where he moved April 1, 2001. Dan was affiliated with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Surviving are his parents; sons, Benjamin Nelson and wife Lori of Decatur; Tony Nelson of Macon; brother, Darrel Nelson of Champaign; granddaughter, Cydney Ann of Macon; stepgranddaughter, Ember of Decatur; nephew, Todd, and niece, Aleena, both of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Dan was a cheerful and gentle person and a friend to everyone who knew him. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

LATHAM -- Charles Russell Cook, 76, of Latham died 9:53 a.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2001) in his home.

Mr. Cook was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Barry, the son of Russell and Ruth Mason Cook. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a World War II Navy veteran. He married Margaret Schick Oct. 23, 1948, in Niantic.
Surviving are his wife; sister, Nancy Goff of California; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and brother, William.

DECATUR -- Mary Louise Reis, 83, of Decatur died 4:30 a.m. Saturday (April 28, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital.

Mrs. Reis was born Jan. 13, 1918, in East St. Louis, the daughter of Henry and Estelle Burkhart Beykirch. She had worked as a secretary to the hospital administrator at St. Mary's Hospital. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital as the director of volunteers. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Lambda Tau Delta sorority, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Kiwannianes Club of Decatur and was a Red Cross Blood Bank volunteer. She married John Peter Reis Aug. 5, 1950, in East St. Louis. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 2000.
Surviving are her daughters, Jo Ann Johnson and husband Mick of Franklin; Judy Forbes and husband Jack of Florence, Ky.; brother, Henry P. Beykirch and wife Betty of Belleville; grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Michele Johnson, John Forbes and Jennifer Forbes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Joan Beuckman.
