Carlton

DECATUR -- Guy A. Carlton, 47, Arrowsmith, formerly of Decatur, died Friday (May 11, 2001). Member: 1980 and 1984 U.S. Olympic Teams. Survivors: wife, Jan; daughters, Jeannie, Laura, Carrie and Becky Carlton, all at home; parents, Guy and Betty Carlton, Pittsfield; sister, Chris Carlton, Lexington. Preceded by: one brother.

Memorial services: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Visitation: one hour before services. Memorials: educational fund for his children or American Heart Association.

Chunn

MOUNT ZION -- Kennie B. Chunn, 60, of Mount Zion died 9 a.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001) in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery with full military honors by Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Diabetes. Association.

Mr. Chunn was born March 18, 1941, in Evanston, the son of Buford and Dorothy Chartrand Chunn. He was a sales representative for Columbia Diagnostics Co. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Mount Zion Lion's club, Mount Zion Village Zoning Board and Decatur Power Squadron. He married Dorleska L. Wiley June 24, 1967.

Surviving are his wife, "Dorie"; twin sons, Brian Chunn and wife Khara of St. Joseph; Brad Chunn of Milwaukee, Wis.; brother, James M. Chunn of Franklin, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Julie Wamback, Ken Wamback and wife Teta, twins, Pete and Peggy Wamback and Sue Gutierrez and husband Mario. Ken also leaves his buddy, "Fred."

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister, Marsha Wamback.

Kennie was loved by a gracious family and friends and will be sadly missed.

Fishel

MOUNT ZION -- Larkin E. Fishel, 82, Mount Zion, retired from Decatur Pump Co., died Friday (May 11, 2001).

Graveside services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Graceland Cemetery. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Memorials: Lakeview Baptist Church.

Hannula

DECATUR -- William G. Hannula, 63, Decatur, died Saturday (May 12, 2001). Arrangements incomplete: Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North.

Hawthorne

DECATUR -- Eddie Howard Hawthorne, 57, caught a fast train to eternity 4:15 p.m. Monday (May 7, 2001) from Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

A celebration of Eddie's life will be held for family and friends 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Long Creek Community Building, 2550 S. 70th St., Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Eddie Hawthorne Memorial Fund.

Eddie was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Decatur, the son of Howard M. and Mary C. Hawthorne. He was employed by Oklahoma Installation Co. as a superintendent. He was a graduate of MacArthur High School and Millikin University.

Surviving are his sparring partner, Denise Douglas; mother, Mary of Decatur; brother, Larry and wife Sharon of Decatur; sisters, Donna Hyde and husband Tom of Cerro Gordo; Karen Kelly and husband Darryll of Mount Zion; Phyllis Radley and husband Jerry of Mount Zion; longtime buddy and confidant, Terry Probst and wife Bonnie of Harristown; six children; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his loyal dog, Toby.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Eddie worked hard and played harder. Now he is at rest.

Morthland

DECATUR -- Richard F. Morthland, 77, Decatur, died Sunday (May 13, 2001). Arrangements incomplete: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.

Osterborg

DECATUR -- Faye Osterborg, 84, of Decatur died 12:31 p.m. Sunday (May 13, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Esterdahl Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Esterdahl Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.

Mrs. Osterborg was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Silvis, the daughter of Frank and Frances Syracuse Patronagio. She was a member of Decatur Moose Lodge and VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving are her brothers, Mike Patronagio and wife Marjorie I. of Moline; George Patronagio and wife Marjorie of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, three brothers and one sister.

Rapp

DECATUR -- Kenneth P. Rapp, 66, of Decatur died 7:30 p.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church with Pastors Donald E. Horath and Shaun W. Rapp officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church Building Fund.

Mr. Rapp was born April 15, 1935, in Argenta, the son of Justin L. and Vera A. Pollard Rapp. He retired in April 2000 as superintendent of Decatur Foundry after 48 years of service. He was a member of Hillside Bethel Tabernacle Church of Decatur. Kenneth married Donna Beall June 29, 1974, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; daughter, Dawn M. Gibbons and husband Duane of Decatur; son, Shaun W. Rapp and wife Melanie of Decatur; grandchildren, Andrew and Jessica Gibbons and Monte and Mitchell Rapp; sisters, Rosemary Music of Naples, Fla.; Alice Hunt of Eustis, Fla.; Helen Slaybaugh of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister.

Steward

DECATUR -- Ruby Steward, 66, Decatur, died Saturday (May 12, 2001). Arrangements incomplete: Walker Funeral Service and Chapel.

Thomas

DECATUR -- Edgar James Thomas, 86, of Decatur passed away Friday (May 11, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Decatur Foursquare Church. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg. Memorials: Niantic Foursquare Church.

Mr. Thomas was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of William C. and Alice Mae Topper Thomas. He was a retired farmer/construction worker in the Illiopolis and Decatur area. He attended Niantic Foursquare Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He married Marjorie Wells Jan. 22, 1936, in Olney, and to this union were born six children.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Linda Thomas and Wanda Hobson, both of Decatur; Patricia Shirley of Stonington; Carolyn Borkhardt and husband Louis of Decatur; sons, Lowell Thomas and wife Judy of Houston, Texas; Gayland Thomas and wife Billie of Warrensburg; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe, and one granddaughter.

Abbott

MATTOON -- Olive Pauline Abbott, 78, Allenville, formerly of Mattoon, homemaker, died Saturday (May 12, 2001).

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial: Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon.

BEMENT -- Dolly J. Eades, 62, Bement, certified nurse's aide, died Friday (May 11, 2001). Member: Sunny Side Club of Bement and First Apostolic Assembly of Monticello.
Survivors: husband, Leslie D.; daughters, Clara Bruner, Mitchell, Ind.; Bernie Dews, Cincinnati, Ohio; Leslie K. Sampson, Vandalia; Andy Sebring, St. Joseph; Dora Shreffler, Monticello; Sandra Keeling, Rantoul; son, Wil C., Bement; brothers, Bill Anderkin and Shelby Anderkin, both of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Reva Blakeley, Ages, Ky.; Maxine Shelton, Big Stone Gap, Va.; Geneva Bergman, Christianburg, Va.; Nell Roark, New Lebanon, Ohio; Betty Hubbs, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Fay Grear, Taylor, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents, two brothers, two sisters and one daughter.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Roux-Hinds Funeral Home, Bement. Visitation: two hours before services. Burial: Monticello Cemetery. Memorials: Carle Hospice Program.

NEOGA -- Robert Wm. McKinney, 78, Neoga, retired farmer, died Saturday (May 12, 2001). Member: Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga.
