ILLIOPOLIS -- Treva S. Buchholzer, 91, of Illiopolis, formerly of Germantown, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Friday morning (Oct. 19, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Arpp & Root Funeral Home, Germantown, Ohio. Visitation will be before services. Burial will be in Germantown Cemetery.
Mrs. Buchholzer was born Sept. 6, 1910, in Poastown Heights, Ohio, the daughter of Harry and Florence Sigel Selby. She lived in the Germantown, Ohio, area for 85 years. She was a member of Union Chapel and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
She leaves not to mourn only to cherish fond, loving memories son, Dale and wife Stella of Illiopolis; grandchildren Vicki and Rick; great-grandchildren, Nikkole and Rikki; son, Don and wife Kathy of West Jordan, Utah; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William "Bill" in 1986, brothers, Clifford "Chip" and Glen Selby and her parents.

CERRO GORDO -- Gayl R. Edgecombe, 63, of Cerro Gordo died 3 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 18, 2001) in his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, with visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials: Cerro Gordo Community Ambulance Service or Cerro Gordo Scout Troop 39.
Mr. Edgecombe was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Moweaqua, the son of Robert Uriah and Esther Leona Bohrer Edgecombe. He was a manufacturing engineer at Caterpillar Inc., retiring after 35 years of service. e owned a saw sharpening business in Cerro Gordo following his retirement with Caterpillar. He was a collector of antique tools and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1970 by the Arrowhead Council, Boy Scouts of America, Champaign, for being instrumental in starting Boy Scout Troop 39 in Cerro Gordo. He married Judith Kay Duncan Jan. 8, 1956, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; children, Kirk D. Edgecombe and wife Denise of Forsyth; Mark Alan Edgecombe and fiancee Cherie and her children Megan Garner and Brandon Robinson of Forsyth; Janette Bodine and husband Randy of Mount Zion; sister, Ellen Witbart of Moweaqua; brother, Lyle Edgecombe and wife Peggy of Ramsey; sister, Christine Burton and husband Duane of Farmer City; daughter-in-law, Patty Edgecombe of Oreana; grandsons, Justin Edgecombe and Ryan Bodine; granddaughters Megan Edgecombe, Lindsey Bodine and Taylor Bodine; lifelong friends Gale and Linda Sawyer of Cerro Gordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and Oliver Eugene, and two nephews.

Schlechte
STRASBURG -- Lloyd S. Schlechte, 91, of Strasburg died 1:40 p.m. Friday (Oct. 19, 2001) in Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Strasburg. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, and one hour before services. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials: Building Fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
Mr. Schlechte was born Dec. 18, 1909, in Strasburg, the son of Henry Frederick and Amanda Stremming Schlechte. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and owner of Schlechte Lumber in Strasburg. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Strasburg, where he was an officer for LLL and held various other offices within the church. He married Madonna Josephine Blake June 6, 1928. She died June 12, 1994. He then married Ellen Roellig Sept. 9, 1995. She died in March 2000.
Surviving are sons, Warren Schlechte and wife Lois of Effingham; George Schlechte and wife Rosemary of Strasburg; daughters, Ramona Radloff and husband John of Strasburg; Bettie Mellendorf of Effingham; Donna Rose "Duckie" Johnson and husband Ron of Stewardson; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one brother, Edgar, and two grandchildren.
Lloyd was a loving husband, a devoted father to his children and a wonderful grandpa. He will be dearly remembered by his family and his many friends.
Van Deveer
LOVINGTON -- Harry K. Van Deveer, 87, of Lovington died 11:15 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 20, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Lovington United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington, with 7:30 p.m. Masonic service. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington, with military rites. Memorials: Lovington United Methodist Church.
Mr. Van Deveer was born July 21, 1914, in Moultrie County, the son of William and Bessie Kendall Van Deveer. He was in the Navy during World War II, retired from farming and USI Captain Guard Force. He was a member of the Lovington United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Lovington Masonic Lodge 228, Lovington American Legion Post 429. He married Imogene Sharpe, and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Surviving are his daughter, Sondra Hoffman and husband Kent of Lovington; sister, Maxine Summers of Sullivan; special friend, Rocky Marquis of Lovington; six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.

EFFINGHAM -- Walter John Kreke, 87, Effingham, retired farmer and postal service worker, died Friday (Oct. 19, 2001).

Highsmith
DECATUR -- Pauline K. Highsmith, 83, of Decatur and Sarasota, Fla., died 4:10 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 8, 2001) in Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Marshall Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Highsmith was born March 24, 1918, in Brownstown, the only daughter of Otis and Bess Tryor Keeler. She was a 1939 graduate of the University of Illinois. While attending the University of Illinois, she was a member and president of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Following graduation, she was a high school teacher in Arlington Heights and Chicago, teaching high school English and physical education classes.
Mrs. Highsmith was a member of the Decatur and Macon County Hospital Auxiliary and was active in many auxiliary projects, including the Thrift Shop and Fun Fair. She was a member and past president of Junior Welfare, a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Decatur, the Country Club of Decatur and an associate member of Long Boat Island Chapel, Longboat Key, Fla. She married Ferris Highsmith July 26, 1941, in Springfield. In 1947, they moved to Decatur when Dr. Highsmith opened his medical practice in Decatur. She had resided in Decatur since 1947. On July 26, 2001, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with many of their friends.
Surviving are her husband; daughter, Dr. Carol Kammer and husband Dr. Robert Kammer of Telluride, Colo.; son, Dr. Robert Highsmith and wife Martha of Cincinnati, Ohio; granddaughter, Christine Kammer Hoffman and husband Jon and great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lauren Hoffman, all of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Amy Kammer Brenner and husband Kenneth and great-grandchildren, Jake, Kilby and Kailey, all of Pearl River, N.Y.; grandson, David Highsmith and wife Andrea and great-grandchild, Maya, all of St. Louis; grandson, Andrew Highsmith and wife Bobby of Ann Arbor, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Allie Brenner.
Kingery
DECATUR -- Margaret Elizabeth Greider Kingery, 93, of Decatur died 12:20 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wed-nesday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery. Memorials: Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Mrs. Kingery was born Aug. 24, 1908, in Vernon, the daughter of Martin and Ida Mae Meador Greider. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Macon. She worked for the Bell Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator for the Macon area and later worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide. She married Hallie Kingery in 1929 in Decatur. He preceded her in death in February 1965.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Moore of East Alton; son, Eldon Kingery of Decatur; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Martin E. Greider and wife Helen of Decatur; sister, Dorothy Mae Ellis of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
