Richard D. Rutherford of Carol Stream
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard D. Rutherford, 57, will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Tuesday, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 300 E. Cole, Wheaton.
The Rev. John Ducaji will officiate.
Friends and family are to meet at the church.
Born Sept. 12, 1941, in Oak Park, he died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton.
Survivors include his daughters, Colleen and Karyn Rutherford of Aurora; mother, Mary Rutherford of Carol Stream; brother, Robert Rutherford of Carol Stream; and sister, Ann Karambelas of Oak Brook.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Rutherford.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p. m. today, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Mary Margaret Scanlon, 78, of Westmont, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999. Arrangements were made by Toon Funeral Home, Westmont, (630) 968-2262.

Walter W. Scheer of East Dundee
Services for Walter W. Scheer, 89, formerly of Penny Road, South Barrington, will be held at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker will officiate.
Born Sept. 16, 1909, in Barrington Township, to Frederick and Emma Meier Scheer,he died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
Burial will be in Dundee Township Cemetery East, East Dundee.
A lifelong resident and farmer in the Dundee area, Mr. Scheer farmed for 38 years on the McCormick Farms in South Barrington. After his retirement from farming, he worked for seven years at Klehm Nurseries of South Barrington.
He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edna Frost Scheer, whom he married Sept. 21, 1935; daughter, Nancy of East Dundee; daughter-in-law, Dorothy of East Dundee; and grandchildren, Sheryl Scheer of Minnesota and Steven Scheer of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth, in 1972; and brother, Elmer, in 1992.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p. m. today, at the funeral home.

George L. `Pappy' Sonntag formerly of Wheaton
Services for George L. `Pappy' Sonntag, most recently of Knox, Ind., formerly of Wheaton and Gobles, Mich., will be held at noon Tuesday, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton.
Born April 3, 1916, in Chicago, to Edward and Elsa (nee Priek) Sonntag, he passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Burial will take place at a later date in Gobles.
Mr. Sonntag, nicknamed Sonny, was a 1934 graduate of Wheaton Community High School and a star on the lightweight football squad. He served his country in the armed forces in France from 1945 to 1946, and was later employed as a tool and die maker for 25 years with Aluminum Company of America in Bellwood and for 10 years with Allied Die Casting in Franklin Park. He and his first wife, Dorothy, and their family were residents of Wheaton for more than 40 years. He was an avid bowler and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. In 1984, they retired to Gobles, where they had vacationed for 45 years. Here he was a member of the Christian Church of Bloomingdale, Mich. In 1990, he married Margaret Newman Roeslen (formerly of Wheaton) and joined her in Knox, Ind., where he was a member of the First Christian Church of Knox.
Surviving are his wife, Margie; children, G. Allen (Diane) of Batavia, Meredeth A. Piper of Wheaton, Gregg A. (Gretchen) of Gobles, Gary L. (Melanie) of Wheaton, Marcy A. (James) Becker of Winfield and Glenn L. (Debra) of St. Charles; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Margie's children, Judith (Richard) Singleton of Knox and Susan (Jack) Walsh of Clarendon Hills; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy J. Sonntag (nee Youker), in 1988; brother, Edward; sister, Elsa; and grandson, Joel W. Piper, in 1998.
Visitation will be from 9 a. m. until the time of services at noon Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials in Mr. Sonntag's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Christian Church of Knox, 301 S. Pearl St., Knox, IN 46534.

Albert J. Tury of St. Charles
Services for Albert J. Tury, 81, will be held at 11:30 a. m. Thursday, at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles, with the Rev. Stanley Staniszewski officiating.
BornNov. 14, 1917, in Chicago, to Joseph and Vera (nee Nagy) Tury, he died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. Burial will be in Resurrecton Cemetery, Geneva.
Mr. Tury was employed by Continental Can of Chicago as atool and die maker until his retirement in 1976. Afterwards he worked for a time with Owens Illinois of West Chicago.
Survivors include his daughter, Joan B. (Fred) Sulich of St. Charles; grandchildren, Adam (Teresa) Sulich, Ken (Melissa) Sulich and Dawn (Michael) Muldoon; great-grandson, Christopher; sister-in-law, Betty Jane Tury; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ann E. Tury, March 2, 1995; brother, John Tury; and sister, Irene Christian.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Robert M. `Bob' Wagner of Woodridge
Memorial services for Robert M. `Bob' Wagner, 62, will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Born Oct. 3, 1936, in Hastings, Neb., he died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be private.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Stacey (Wayne) Schultz of Lake Geneva; sons, Kent Wagner and Brad Wagner, both of Lake Geneva; stepdaughter, Catherine Blackwell of Ashville, N. C.; stepsons, Philippe Bosaers of Champaign, Ill. and Matthew Bossaers; four grandchildren; and brothers, Richard of Columbia of South Carolina and Jon of Riverview, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Ila Wagner, and his son, Michael Wagner.

Glennette R. Wheeler of Elgin
Services for Glennette R. Wheeler (nee Mayes), 63, will be held at 12:30 p. m. Wednesday, at First Baptist Church of Elgin, 1735 W. Highland Ave., Elgin.
Born April 18, 1935, in Jackson, Tenn., she died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago.
Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
Mrs. Wheeler was retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid where she had worked as an intake supervisor. She was a member of the 700 Club and AFSCME Union Local 31.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene H. Wheeler Sr. of Elgin, whom she married in 1954; son, Eugene H. Wheeler Jr. of Elgin; daughters, Barbara Jean (Clarence) Campbell of Elgin, Deborah Jean Wheeler of San Antonio, Texas, Pamela Jean Spates of Elgin, Mary Jean (Lonnie) Williams of Elgin, Kathleen Mildred Jean Douglas of Carpentersville, LaVanda Jean Wheeler of Elgin and LaDonna Jean Wheeler of Elgin; 13 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins, Ernest Kearney and Elder Albert Ervin Jr.; many special relatives from the Wheeler family; and a host of friends in Elgin and Jackson.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a. m. until the time of services at 12:30 p. m. Wednesday, at the church.

Marion Wolak of Waukegan
Mass of Christian Burial for Marion Wolak, 86, formerly of North Chicago, will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Tuesday, at Queen of Peace Church, 910-14th St., North Chicago.
Born Sept. 22, 1912,in North Chicago, she died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Provena St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. Interment will follow the Mass of Christian Burial in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
Mrs. Wolak had lived her entire life in the Waukegan/North Chicago area. She had been a member of Queen of Peace Church and the Ladies Rosary Sodality, and a former member of Holy Rosary Church.
She is survived by her brother, Peter Wolak of Waukegan; sisters, Victoria Michalowski of Waukegan and Florence Michalowski of Beach Park; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rose Wolak; brothers, Joseph and Frank Wolak; and sisters, Helen Bretzlauf and Anna Wolak.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass.

Frieda Setterstrom of Elk Grove Village
Services for Frieda Setterstrom (nee Nyberg), 94, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect.
Born Feb. 18, 1905, in Sweden, she died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Lexington Health Care Center of Schaumburg.
She was the beloved wife of the late Eric Setterstrom; loving mother of Ken (Marilyn) Setterstrom and Mary Ann Rust; devoted grandmother of six; great-grandmother of 16; and great-great-grandmother of two.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Born April 3, 1909, in Libertyville, she died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Rolling Hills Nursing Home. Interment will be private, in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville.
Survivors include her children, Joan Gustafson of Beach Park, Gene Vanderspool of Park City, Edith (Cordell) King of California and Donald (Martha) Vanderspool of Libertyville; daughter-inlaw, Ruth Vanderspool of Thiensville, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Vanderspool; brothers, Frank and Ed Parkhurst; son, Jack Vanderspool; son-in-law, Robert A. Gustafson; and great-grandchildren, Mark and Todd Vanderspool, and Carrie and Christopher DuFour.

Jerry L. Woods of Elgin

Born Oct. 17, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to John T. and Mildred (nee Cogbill) Woods, he died Monday, March 8, 1999, at his home. Burial will be in Dundee Township Cemetery East, East Dundee.
Mr. Woods had been a resident of Elgin for the past 28 years and was employed by Kinney Electric in Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Roxanne Clark Woods; and brothers, John Woods of Topeka, Kan., twin brother, Larry (Kay) Woods of Oklahoma and Alfred (Debbie) Studdard of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
