Scheibly

DECATUR -- K. Rosemary Scheibly, 78, of Decatur died 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Kent officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. Memorials: First Christian Church.

Rosemary was born May 20, 1924, in Decatur, the daughter of Wayne D. and Edith Mae Smith Johnson. She was homemaker and member of First Christian Church. She married Jesse Scheibly on Oct. 13, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo.

Surviving are her husband; sons, Les Scheibly of Decatur; Jerry Scheibly and wife Kimberly of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Lyn Scheibly and wife Brenda of Ocala, Fla.; daughters, Mar
y Ann Koester and Patty Phipps, both of Decatur; Margaret Golden and husband Mike of Assumption; sister, Ellen Sadowski and husband Don of Decatur; 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

We were blessed with a loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.

Webb

DECATUR -- Nathaniel Webb, 1, Decatur, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Pfeifer

DECATUR -- George A. Pfeifer, 87, Decatur, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003).

Services: 11:30 a.m. Friday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials: ManorCare Health Services or Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur.

Sparks

DECATUR -- LaMar "Junior" Sparks, 75, Clovis, N.M., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003).

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Friday, Muffley Funeral Home Chapel, Clovis. Visitation: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M. Memorials: Forrest Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.

DECATUR -- Gladys I. Stewart, 83, LaPlace, La., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.

Stonecipher

MOUNT ZION -- Nellie Stonecipher, 93, Mount Zion, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Mount Zion Cemetery.

Thatcher

DECATUR -- Quentin H. Thatcher, 83, of Decatur died 7:40 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.

Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Memorials: Macon County Humane Society.

Harold was born July 27, 1919, in Decatur, the son of Chester and Mamie Thatcher. He was awarded the Bronze Star and received a Purple Heart for his service during World War II and was a retired letter carrier for the city of Decatur. He married Eva Marie Pogue.

Surviving are his wife; son, Richard Thatcher of Boise, Idaho; grandsons, Michael and Bradley; granddaughter, Anne MacConnell; three great-granddaughters, all of Idaho; brother, David Thatcher of Decatur; sister, Shirley Rozanski of Decatur.

Winters

WARRENSBURG -- Craig A. Winters, 46, Warrensburg, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorials: to the family.

DECATUR -- Herbert F. Tomlinson, 81, Decatur, retired from Archer Daniels Midland Co., died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003).

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation was Wednesday. Burial: Star of Hope Mausoleum. Memorials: donor's choice.

Avery

HAMMOND -- Leonard "Len" Avery, 72, of Hammond died 8:50 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hilligoss-Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood, with Dr. Jay Adrain officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hammond Cemetery. Memorials: DMH Home Health & Hospice Services.

Mr. Avery was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Nokomis, the son of Philip and Edith Whitaker Avery. He was a former auto mechanics instructor. He enjoyed playing and was an avid fast pitch softball fan. He was a member of Hammond Missionary Baptist Church and Blue Sky Operator's CB Club. He married Cynthia Ann Conour on Nov. 7, 1953, in Hammond.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Debra Edwards and husband Richard W. of Decatur; Robin Phelps of Arthur; grandchildren, Steve Yocum, Kelly Edwards, Rena Vincent and Amanda Phelps.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The family would like to thank everyone at the DMH Cancer Center and Hospice for their wonderful care and assistance. The family would especially like to thank Alice Boylan and Katie Dick for all their help.

DeVore

TAYLORVILLE -- Gladys M. DeVore, 79, Taylorville, retired homemaker, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sutton Memorial Home Chapel, Taylorville. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial: Anderson Cemetery, Palmer.

Member: First United Methodist Church, Taylorville. Survivors: sons, Carl E., Kincaid; Larry Williams, Palmer; brother, Norville Watson, Danville; sister, Gleeda Rose, Cairo; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents, husbands,
Carl Williams and Earl DeVore; three sisters.

Eveland

ROBINSON -- Harvey L. Eveland, 69, Robinson, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003).

Services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson. Visitation: two hours before services. Burial at a later date with military rites. Memorials: Veterans of Foreign Wars Transportation Fund.

Blaudow

ARTHUR -- Mary Elizabeth Blaudow, 90, of Arthur died 8:45 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Shrader Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Ralph Deal and the Rev.Kenneth Roedder officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Arthur Cemetery. Memorials: Arthur Fire Department.

Mrs. Blaudow was born March 9, 1912, in Champaign, the daughter of George and Rebecca Masher Herme. She was a retired cook for Arthur Grade School. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. She was also a member of Arthur Senior Citizens. She love
d to quilt, cook, sew and travel. She married Francis Fred Blaudow Sr. on June 27, 1931, in Charleston. He preceded her in death July 5, 1974.

Surviving are her sons, Francis Blaudow Jr. of Arthur; Jerry Blaudow of Tuscola; Ronnie Blaudow of Mattoon; daughter, Patty Janusik of Arthur; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, one grandchild, one brother and one sister.

Caruso

WILLOW HILL -- Jack A. Caruso, 90, Crystal Lake, formerly of Willow Hill, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003).

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Mound Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton. Memorials: American Cancer Society.
