Foote

ROBINSON -- Sherrell Lane "Sherry" Cochran Foote, 59, Robinson, pastor, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Ford

MOUNT VERNON -- Harold K. Ford, 87, Bluffton, Ind., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Six Mile Cemetery, Bluffton. Memorials: First Church of Christ Building Fund.

Gable

VANDALIA -- Jo Ann Gable, 62, resident of Rosewood Care Center, Peoria, died 1:55 a.m. Friday (Jan. 10, 2003) in Rosewood.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Salem Lutheran Church, Peoria, with the Rev. Steven Barnes officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore. Wilton Mortuary, Peoria, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Salem Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Gable was born April 16, 1940, in Vandalia, to Thomas and Verneal Lola Holmes Carroll. She worked in marketing for SAM's Club for 15 years and retired in 2002. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Women of Moose Chapter 673, Pekin, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughters, Angela Gable of Tampa, Fla.; Stephanie Dever of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren.

Geddes

VANDALIA -- Roy E. Geddes, 75, Vandalia, retired custodian, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Forbis Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials: American Diabetes. Association.

Member: Agape Word Fellowship, Vandalia. Survivors: wife, Nina R.; daughters, Kathy Bailey and Brenda Konigsbauer, both of Effingham; Barbara Kralman, Teutopolis; Janet Reeves, Vandalia; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents and three brothers.

Mayfield

CLINTON -- Wesley Thomas Mayfield, 65, Clinton, died Monday (Jan. 13, 2003).

RAMSEY -- Edith Hill Tish, 87, Ramsey, retired secretary, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Ramsey Christian Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, and one hour before services in the church. Burial: Mount Carmel Cemetery, Ramsey. Memorials: Mount Carmel Cemetery or Ramsey Christian Church Building Fund.

Survivors: husband, Dean Tish; sons, Rex Hill, Coffeen; Jim Hill, Jerseyville; Melvin Hill, Ramsey; stepdaughters, Cathy Jarrett, Taylorville; Penny Burdenski, Springfield; brother, Carl "Kirby" Moreland, Crystal, Mich.; sisters, Jessie Kelly, Sullivan; Minnie Todd, Elva Slates and Ida Teall, all of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents, first husband, Ira Melvin Hill, one brother and one sister.

Bartello

DECATUR -- Mary Florence Bartello, 82, of Decatur died 8:15 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003).

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Christian Church. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Central Christian Church or donor's choice.

Mary was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Clyde Everett and Evelyn W. Hill Goodwin. She was a homemaker and retired from Kemper Insurance Co. She was a member of Central Christian Church, St. Mary's Auxiliary, Decatur PTA and the Ladies Pricella Group at Central Christian Church. She married Louis W. Bartello. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Lou Brown-Nolan and husband Patrick Nolan of Decatur; brothers, Leslie P. Goodwin and wife Jean and Russell A. Goodwin and wife Mary, all of Decatur; Wayne H. Goodwin and wife Kathy of Mount Zion; sister, Evelyn L. Ballinger of Decatur; grandchildren, David L. Brown and wife Kathy of Naperville; Dena S. Sexton and wife Michael of Decatur; Buggie O'Grady and husband Sean of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Caroline Brown, Anna Brown, William Sexton, Mary Grace Sexton, Mary Frances O'Grady and Daniel O'Grady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother and son-in-law, Donald L. Brown.

Mary's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff and caregivers at Fair Havens Christian Home.

DECATUR -- James Albert "Jim" Hayes, 80, Decatur, retired from A.E. Staley Mfg. Co., died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial: Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites. Memorials: Macon County Animal Shelter.

DECATUR -- Verna Hoelting, 70, Decatur, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.

ARGENTA -- Lois H. March, 91, Yazoo City, Miss., formerly of Argenta, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Graveside services were Thursday, Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements by: Stricklin-King Funeral Home, Yazoo City.

Navy veteran. Member: Central Christian Church. Survivors: daughters, Mary A. Rohman, Yazoo City; Carol Norris, Eden Prairie, Minn.; four grandchildren. Preceded by: husband, Paul.

MACON -- Daniel E. Mathias, 43, Macon, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Macon United Methodist Church. Visitation: one hour before services in the church. Burial: Macon Cemetery. Arrangements by: Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Memorials: Macon United Methodist Church or donor's choice.

Riley

DECATUR -- Andrew L. "Andy" Riley, 53, of Decatur and Gulf Shores, Ala., died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003) as a result of a fishing accident in the Gulf of Mexico.

Memorial services will be 8 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation two hours before services.

Andy was born Feb. 5, 1949, in Decatur, the son of Myrle and Elinore Miller Riley. Andy worked at Dunlap Nursery in Blue Mound and had a tremendous passion for fishing and gardening. He married Barb Grissom on July 5, 2002.

Surviving are his wife; brothers, Dan Riley and wife Mary Ann and Mike Riley and wife Laura, all of Decatur; sisters, Nancy Phillips and husband Rodney of Decatur; Debbie Nicholls of Forsyth; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patrick; and infant sister, Patricia.

Andy will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many friends.

Smalley

DECATUR -- Ruth Alberta Smalley, 90, Elgin, formerly of Decatur, died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North. Visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial: Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta. Memorials: Garver Brick United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
