BEECHER CITY -- Delbert M. "Squeak" Kline, 72, of Beecher City died 10:30 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 5, 2003) in his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Springhill Presbyterian Church, Beecher City. Visitation was Tuesday in Kessel Funeral Home, St. Elmo, and will also be one hour before services in the church. Delbert was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Loudon Township, Fayette County, the son of Guy B. and Ethel E. Logue Kline. He retired in 1992 from the Fayette County Highway Dept. after 28 years of employment as a machine operator. He also was an agricultural farmer
for many years in the Loudon Township. He married Fairy Norlena Dial on Aug. 19, 1950, in Effingham County.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Shirley) Zacha of Stewardson; Kathy Miller of Beecher City; brother, Leslie (Mary) Kline of Beecher City; aunts, Eileen Watkins of Pekin; Maggie Kline of Effingham; grandsons, Daniel Zacha Jr., Michael Miller and Vincent Zacha; granddaughters, Norlena Horn, Melony Miller, Mrs. Jason (Joyce) Wells and Emily Zacha; eight great-grandchildren; three nieces; four nephews; several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roedell Kline, one niece and one nephew.

TAYLORVILLE -- Roy J. Peabody, 81, of Taylorville, formerly of Stonington died 4 p.m. Monday (Jan. 6, 2003) in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.
Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary s Catholic Church, Taylorville, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Old Stonington Cemetery

He was born on Feb. 20, 1921, in Rural Stonington, to John R. and Freida Miller Peabody. He attended Pine Grove Elementary School and was a graduate of Stonington High School. He worked for and retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 2120, Christian County Historical Society, American Legion, Stonington and Meals on Wheels volunteer. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force. He married Edna "Frankie" Elshoff on Nov. 20, 1946, in Springfield.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Nancy Mateer and husband Joe of Edinburg; Carolyn Brown and husband Doug of Taylorville; sons, David (wife Peggy) of Aurora; Dean and wife Pam, Kevin and wife Sharon and Mike Peabody, all of Taylorville; Jeff and wife Betty of Edinburg; 17 grandchildren; twin brother, Ray Peabody of Decatur; sisters, Eleanor Zuiss of Kansas City, Mo.; Sister Mary Wilfrieda Peabody of Holy Cross Convent in Notre Dame, Ind.; Irene Hebenstreit, Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim, Bernard, Glenn, Paul, Ernest and Albert Peabody, August and Lawrence Hebenstreit; sisters, Louise and Mary Hebenstreit, Alice Zeman and Mildred Perdue.

Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 25, 1902, in Hammond, the daughter of Frank Pierce Smith and Ora Hampton Smith. She retired after 50 years as a schoolteacher in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. She was a member of National Retired Teachers, Methodist Church in Tus
cola and Women s Club in Tuscola. She married James "Tom" Williams on June 9, 1945. He preceded her in death May 16, 2000.
Surviving is her sister, Dorothy "Smitty" Moore of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Jewel Smith of Decatur; Thelma Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; Helen Crosman of Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Dean was born March 29, 1949, in Decatur, the son of Russell N. Dean and Anastazia Lazarenko Dean. He was a clerk for Norfolk & Western Railway Co. and a driver for Tyson foods. He was a member of American Legion Post 105 and affiliated with St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam era.
Surviving are his mother of Decatur; sons, Keith Dean and wife Antonette of Chula Vista, Calif.; Brian Dean and wife Carrie of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Miyoko Dean of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Daniel Dean and wife Christie

JoAnn was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Decatur, the daughter of Thomas Joseph and Sarah Lucille Mcguire Delaney. She was a Registered Nurse at several hospitals. She married Jimmy Frank on June 4, 1983, in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband; brother, Bob Delaney and wife Theresa of Decatur; sister, Helen Alsup and husband John of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Thomas Delaney and sisters, Dorothy Beckhaus and Jean Olmstead.
Grissom
DECATUR -- Marcella P. Sowers Grissom, 76, of Peoria, formerly of Greenup and Decatur, passed away 1:34 p.m. Monday (Jan. 6, 2003) in Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
Services celebrating Marcella's life will be 2 p.m. Friday in Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with Pastor Huey Long officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Greenup. Memorials: American Heart Association.
Marcella was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Hidalgo, daughter of Rolla S. and Edith Coad Sowers. She was a homemaker and a member of the Greater Pekin First United Pentecostal Church. She married Carl Grissom on Feb. 15, 1992. He passed away Sept. 12, 2001.
Surviving are her stepson, Everett (wife, Margaret) Grissom of Maroa; three stepdaughters, Lela Mettenbrink of Neoga; Letha (husband, Wesley) Wuerch of Hawkins, Texas; Viola (husband, Eugene) Holder of Waxahachie, Texas; three brothers, Owen (wife, Gert) Sowers of Boston, Mass.; Bob (wife, Georgia) Sowers of Houston, Texas; Ray (wife, Polly) Sowers of Marquette Hills; nine stepgrandchildren, 24 great-stepgrandchildren, one great-great-stepgrandson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Louise Decker and Jean Brown, and one stepgrandson.
