Decatur's Volunteer Action Force named her outstanding civic and cultural volunteer for 1975-76.

She accompanied more than 50 different musicals for Theatre 7, Millikin University and Mount Zion High School and will be remembered for her talent for rescuing faltering performers, her dedication to excellence and her pointed wit. Louise developed an interest in genealogy and spent untold hours happily engrossed in researching family history. She volunteered for the Decatur Genealogical Society and edited the Central Illinois Genealogical Quarterly for several years. Among her greatest pleasures were reading, traveling in England, attending performances in London and at the Krannert Center and crawling on the floor with her twin grandsons.
