Smith

SHELBYVILLE -- Clifford B. Smith, 94, of Shelbyville died 11:05 a.m. Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) in Shelbyville Manor.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Rev. Gary Ogden officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Howe Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Mr. Smith was born June 25, 1908, in Shelby County, the son of Charles and Amy Smith Smith. He was a retired construction worker and farmer and was the greens keeper at Shelby Country Club for 20 years. He attended the Mode United Methodist Church. He married Mildred E. Thompson on Sept. 7, 1932. She preceded him in death Feb. 20, 1998.

Surviving are his sons, Clifford D. Smith and wife Joanne of Nachusa; James A. Smith and wife Jayne of Shelbyville; foster son, Don Whitlow and wife Marilyn of Moweaqua; sisters, Ruth Sader of Rockford; Margaret Forcum of Mode; grandchildren, Bryan, Craig, Bradley, Morgan, Brett and Sarah Smith and Becky Whitlow; great-grandchildren, Loren, Andrew, Isabelle, Taka Abe, Hiro Abe and Scott Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Howard, Ted and Bill Smith; sisters, Esther Ragan, Goldie Galvin and Irene Bishop; and grandson, Randy Smith.

Tate

LINCOLN -- Edward Tate, 80, Washington, retired from Caterpiller Inc., died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: New Union Cemetery with military rites. Memorials: Jefferson Street Christian Church, Lincoln.

Ralston

VANDALIA -- Mary E. Ralston, 90, Vandalia, homemaker, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials: Parkview Free Methodist Church Building Fund, Vandalia.

Member: Parkview Free Methodist Church. Survivors: son, Earl E., Ramsey; daughter, Barbara J. Oberlink, Vandalia; brother, Richard Turrentine, Mattoon; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents; husband, Earl Guy; one son; one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter.

Uhll

TAYLORVILLE -- Mary Elizabeth Uhll, 83, Taylorville, formerly of Stonington, died Monday (Feb. 3, 2003) in Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with Pastor Joel W. Lohr officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery.
Memorials: Christian County Senior Citizens or American Cancer Society.

Mary was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Christian County, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Bilyeu Hodges. She was a retired machine operator for Sangamon Card Co., where she was employed for 37 years. She married Merle Robert Uhll on Nov. 30, 1957. He preceded her in death April 21, 1965.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Fae Hodges of Stonington; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Otis, Earl, Matt, Howard, Frank, Homer and Vern Hodges; and sisters, Ollie Elsie Renfrow and Amy cs142 Mildred Townsend.

Weir

CASEY -- Charles D. Weir, 78, Casey, farmer, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003).

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Markwell Funeral Home, Casey. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Washington Cemetery, Casey. Memorials: to the family.

Sheridan

STE. MARIE -- Olivia D. "Leve" Sheridan, 80, Ed Barthelme General Merchandise employee, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ste. Marie. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with 7 p.m. wake service and one hour before services, all in the church. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, Ste. Marie. Arrangements by: Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton. Memorials: American Cancer Society, Lincolnland Hospice.

Thilker

ALTAMONT -- Shannon Nicole Robeson Thilker, 24, Altamont, teacher, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Union Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials: Preschool Program of Unit 40 or donor's choice.

Member: National Education Association. Survivors: parents, Mark and DeeAdria Robeson, Altamont; sister, Desiree Hingson, Altamont; one grandmother, Altamont. Preceded by: three grandparents.

VanDorn

TUSCOLA -- Barbara Louise VanDorn, 70, Tuscola, formerly of Newman, retired from University of Illinois Building Services, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Hilligoss-Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Newman Cemetery. Memorials: Provena Covenant Hospice Unit, 1400 West Park St., Urbana, IL 61801.

Survivors: son, Gary VanDorn, Bushnell, Fla.; daughters, Barbara Duzan, Oakland; Debra Mitsdarffer and Becky Swinford, both of Tuscola; brother, Bob Gallion, Hume; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Preceded by: husband, Alvin; one son, one daughter and two brothers.

Boehm

DECATUR -- Elizabeth Ann Boehm, 66, of Decatur died 6:39 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 in St. Mary s Hospital.

Private family burial will be Monday in Graceland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of Stanley Earl and Edith Mae Billbe Doty. She was a homemaker. She married Robert Boehm on Dec. 19, 1969, in Decatur. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 2001.

Surviving are her mother; son, John Boehm of Decatur; daughters, Nancy Cochran and Cynthia Kleck and husband Dan, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; Angela Griffith of Decatur; brother, Jim Doty of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Chesmar

DECATUR -- Robert Joseph Chesmar, 83, of Decatur died 12:50 a.m. Friday (Feb. 7, 2003).

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Monday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Robert was born March 19, 1919, in Chicago, the son of Peter and Mary Neal Chesmar. He was a General Mills miller for many years and attended Maranatha Assembly of God. He was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving in World War II. He married Carol Chase on Aug. 12, 1963, in Orland Park.

Surviving are his wife; daughter, Mary McCarty of Decatur; stepsons, Scott Thomson and wife Cindy of Maiden Rock, Wis.; Paul Thomson and wife Kay of Berthoud, Colo.; Ken Thomson of Missouri; stepdaughters, Carolyn Smith and husband Rex of Ozark, Mo.; Kimberly Loveland and husband Wayne of Crete; brothers, Stephon Chesmar, Julius Chesmar, Chester Chesmar, John Chesmar and James Chesmar; sister, Genevieve Swarthout; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eaton

DECATUR -- Ruth Marie Eaton, 77, Decatur, died Thursday (Feb. 6, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Second Church of God. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Burial: Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Second Church of God Building Fund or American Heart Association.

NIANTIC -- Cloy M. Garland, 95, Byers, Colo., formerly of Niantic, died Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2003).

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Memorials: Byers Rescue Service, Byers, Colo. 80103.

Member: Mound Chapel Church of God. Survivors: brothers, Marvin Ford, Decatur; Carroll Ford, Mount Zion; sister, Ruth Wampler, Decatur; one stepgranddaughter. Preceded by: parents, husband, two brothers, one sister.

Gillibrand

DECATUR -- Ronald E. Gillibrand, 52, Decatur, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home.
