LOUISVILLE -- Ernest Hawn, 94, of Louisville died 10:55 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) in the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

Mr. Hawn was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Clay County, the son of Peter and Pearl Ray Hawn. He was a retired farmer. He served as a past deacon and elder of Red Brush Christian Church and as past board member for Wabash Telephone Co-op. He married Marguerite Vandyke in Altamont.
Surviving are his wife; son, Garland (Betty) Shipp of Mount Zion; daughters, Lois (Bill) Frost of Altamont; Barbara (Reno) Blackshire of Mount Zion; Wilma (Glenn) Daugherty of Lakeland, Fla.; Rosalie (Gene) Leonard of Louisville; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Thelma L. Utterback, 91, of Clinton died 12:30 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) in Lincoln Christian Nursing Home, Lincoln.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with visitation be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in DeWitt County Cemetery, Dewitt. Memorials: First Christian Church, Clinton, or Christian Village, Lincoln.
Mrs. Utterback was born Aug. 30, 1911, in DeWitt County, the daughter of Grant and Nora Etta Seniff Wilson. She graduated from Weldon High School and attended Illinois State University, Normal. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years. She was affiliated with Shiloh Chapel United Methodist Church. She married Elmer D. Utterback on May 18, 1935, in Rockville, Md. She farmed with her husband for 47 years in rural Clinton. He passed away Dec. 9, 1993.
Surviving are her son, Russell E. (Janice) Utterback of Clinton; daughters, Marjorie E. (Ronald) Yeast of Atlanta; Juanita E. Hartford of Mendota; Lois A. Staley of O'Fallon; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Utterback; one grandson; one great-great-grandson; three brothers and one sister.

DECATUR -- Michael T. Dudley, 49, of Decatur passed from this life Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003).
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather one hour before services.
Michael was born and raised March 28, 1953, on the South Side of Chicago, the son of Mose and Frances Dudley. He spent most of his earlier years in the Morgan Park area, attended Morgan Park High School, moved to Elgin for many years. He then moved to Decatur, where he became a proud homeowner with his loving companion, Wanda Baldwin, and lived out his remaining days.
His memory will be cherished by his loving companion; children, Kent and Frances; loving parents of Chicago; baby sister, Carmen, whom he cared after; sister, Linda; brother, Stuart; cousins that grew up together and remained very close, Winthrop (little count) Gomillion, Darryl Parham, Elbert and Dennis Patterson, all of Chicago; stepsons, Carl (Katira) Baldwin, Carlyle Baldwin and Shawn (Kathy) Baldwin, all of Elgin; Brian Baldwin of Milwaukee, Wis.; stepdaughter, Yolanda Baldwin of Aurora; stepgrandchildren, Shronda, Deon, Tamika, Carl, Titus, Brianna, Jordan, Shawn and Chetandra; uncles, aunts, cousins, a host of other relatives and many, many friends.

DECATUR -- Ronald E. Gillibrand, 52, of Decatur entered into eternal life Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) in his home.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Rick Weltin officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church with 7 p.m. vigil prayer service. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. Memorials: Todd Gillibrand Educational Fund, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
Ron was born Jan. 9, 1951, in Decatur, the son of Wilburn E. and Myreta Jennings Gillibrand. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Decatur Chordsmen Barbershop Singers and Service Employee Union 73. Ron was employed as a locksmith for the Decatur public schools for 18 years. He proudly served our country in the Navy on the USS Constellation. Ron married Cheryl A. Riedel on Oct. 29, 1977, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; son, Todd (fiancee, Heather) Gillibrand of Champaign; stepmother, Betty L. Gillibrand of Decatur; brother, Thomas B. Gillibrand; sister-in-law, Sharon (Michael) Taylor of Decatur; cousin, Robert (Donna) Burdick of Charlotte, N.C.; four nieces; one nephew; many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

DECATUR -- Ann Elizabeth Jensen, 48, of Decatur went to be with her Lord at 2:18 a.m. Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) in her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North and one hour before services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran School Association.
Mrs. Jensen was born Nov. 9, 1954, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Richard Ikawa and Jean Germar Ikawa. She graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis and attended Indiana University at Bloomington, Ind. Ann married Tom Jensen on June 16, 1979. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a teacher's aide and office assistant for the Lutheran School Association.
Surviving are her husband; mother of Indianapolis; son, Daniel Jensen of Decatur; daughter, Julia Jensen of Decatur; sisters, Jayne Johnson and husband Mike of Simpsonville, Ky.; Peggy Ikawa-Mazas and husband Rafa of Madrid, Spain; Doris Gomez and husband Cris of Cecero, Ind.; brother, Dr. Bruce Ikawa and wife Kay of Hillsdale, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She loved her children, her family and all the children and co-workers at the Lutheran School. She also knew Jesus Christ as her Savior. She will be missed, but we will see her again in Heaven.
Mell
DECATUR -- Betty M. Mell, 81, of Decatur died 10:47 a.m. Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sharon United Methodist Church with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Sharon United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
Betty was born July 18, 1921, in Decatur, the daughter of Walter F. and Florence M. Hoffer Moore. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, a retired licensed practical nurse and a volunteer for American Cancer Society and American Red Cross Blood Mobile. She married Hampton L. Mell on April 13, 1941, in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years; son, Darel Keith Mell and wife Loretta of Decatur; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter Kenneth Moore; and sons, Walter and David Mell.
