Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Mount Zion Cemetery. Memorials: Lincoln Manor Nursing Home.

Carnine

MOUNT ZION -- Edna Victoria Carnine, 75, of Mount Zion, formerly of Windsor, passed away 12:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 13, 2003) in North Adams Home, Mendon.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor. Memorials: Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mount Zion.

Edna was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Bement, the daughter of Otis Emery and Goldie McKinley Root Biesecker. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Decatur and a former Decatur Country Club employee.

Surviving are her children, Anthony Jewsbury and wife Margo of Branson, Mo.; Mike Cox and wife Cathy of Mount Zion; Norman Jewsbury of Decatur; Bobbie "Bokin" Briscoe and husband Dan of Oakley; Leroy Keene of Decatur; Joetta Cravens and husband Hank of Quincy; Robert W. Jewsbury III of Decatur; Merry Dust and husband Alan, Maria Bichsel and husband Chris, all of Quincy; Sgt. Edward Carnine and wife Kelly of Fort Knox, Ky.; grandchildren, John Jewsbury, Jim Jewsbury, Dian Ladd, Dennis Spears, Michael Cox, Cassandra Kraft, Scott Jewsbury, Cory Jewsbury, Eric Jewsbury, Amanda Jewsbury, Danny Briscoe, Jake Briscoe, Andy Briscoe, Echo Seidler, Holly Jewsbury, Keith Robert Jewsbury, Matthew Donaldson, Nicholas Ryherd, Richard Ryherd, Emma Dust, Samuel Dust, Jack Dust, Samantha Bichsel, Paigie Bichsel, Sophia Bichsel, Bailey Carnine, Alex Carnine and Jada Carnine; great-grandchildren, Dalton Jewsbury, Savanah Jewsbury; Bradley Jewsbury, Haley Jewsbury, Taryn Ladd, Riley Spears, Makenna Cox, Austin Kraft, Braden Kraft, Bro oklyn Jewsbury, Brennan Jewsbury, Elliott Briscoe, Caleb Briscoe, Melanie Seidler, T.J. Seidler and Jason Seidler, Cayla Richard, Jonathon Richard; brother, Fred Biesecker of Menasha, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis D. Cox; brother, Marion Biesecker.

Frailey

DECATUR -- Lennie E. Champion Frailey, 89, of LaGrange, Ga., formally of Decatur and Bakersfield, Calif., died Feb. 1, 2003.

There will be a private family burial in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are her son, Robert Champion and wife Pat of Decatur; grandchildren, Robert Champion Jr. of Cerro Gordo; Tracie Frazee and Tim Champion of Decatur; Mary Brown of Caldwell, Idaho; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers and sisters.

Robinson

DECATUR -- Mildred Robinson, 55, of Decatur died Friday (Feb. 14, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Decatur, the daughter of John and Mary Stacey Murphy. She worked in the laundry facilities in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Aspen Ridge Care Centre and numerous other Decatur businesses.

Surviving are her special friend, Danny Ray; daughter, Laura Worrell of Decatur; son, Marc Worrell of Decatur; special stepdaughter, Pam Jarrett of Decatur; brother, Michael Murphy; grandchildren, Freddie and Falisia Jarrett and Zamie and Zyrhea Worrell.

Goble

DECATUR -- Louise A. "Squeak" Lake Goble, 69, of Decatur passed on to another life Friday (Feb. 14, 2003) in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Private family services will be at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Burn Unit, Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Louise was born March 17, 1933, in Decatur. She was adopted and raised by the late Nancy Campbell and Russell Wheeler. She was a devo ted Jeff Gordon fan and a helping hand to all in need. She married Billy J. Lake Sr. in 1963.

Surviving are her sons, Gary Garner and wife Kathy of Warrensburg; Dave Garner and wife Jodi of Orlando, Fla.; Russ Lake of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters, Brenda Taylor and husband Scott of Mahomet; Robin Garner of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, "Teen" Buck of Creve Coeur; special friends, Bob Goble and Chuck Muehlback; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents; husband; son, Billy J. Lake Jr.; and brother, Dean Cordtz.

Pence

DECATUR -- Thomas Wayne "Tommy" Pence, 14, of Decatur passed away 7:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 14, 2003) in Decatu r Memorial Hospital from Sanfillippo Syndrome complications.

There will be no services or visitation. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Ronald McDonald House.

Tommy was born Jan. 26, 1989, in Decatur, the son of John Paul Pence and Tracy Shriver Reatherford.

Surviving are his father, John Paul Pence and wife Brenda of Decatur; mother, Tracy Shriver Reatherford of Decatur; sister, Dana Pence of Decatur; stepbrothers, Brent D. Harrell USMC in Okinawa, Japan, and Jeffrey M. Szymkoski of Decatur; grandparents, Doris Sutherland, Jack Sutherland, George Pence, Pat Shriver and Bob Shriver; one stepgrandmother; six uncles; five aunts; numerous cousins; special friend, Mark Reatherford of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Tony Mathes.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to St. John's Hospital in Springfield and Decatur Memorial Hospital's nursing staff for all of their loving care and support.

Harper

DECATUR -- D. Edna Harper, 81, Decatur, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

DECATUR -- Howard J. Holzer, 71, Morton, formerly of Decatur, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home, Morton.

Johnson

DECATUR -- Edward Lawrence "Ed" Johnson, 47, of Decatur passed from this life Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2003).

Homegoing services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in New Salem Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Ed was born Sept. 10, 1955, in Wyatt, the son of Clarence Scott and Dorothy Johnson. Ed graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He was known for his love of sports and will be missed by his many teammates.

He leaves not to mourn, but to cherish fond memories, his mother, Dorothy Pattin of Decatur; father, Clarence Scott of Wyatt, Mo.; daughter, Tanisha Johnson of Decatur; son, Zalyn L. Johnson of Decatur; fiancee, Darcell Walker of Decatur; sisters, LaVern Tucker, Samantha Chaney and Mary D. Pattin, all of Decatur; Ida (Hardin) Davis of Carbondale; brothers, James (Francie) Johnson and Larry E. Cole, both of Decatur; Vernell (Tracie) Pattin of Newburg, N.C.; many nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Johnson.

Though he will be missed by family and friends, we take comfort in knowing he's now on God's heavenly team.

Amos

MORRISONVILLE -- Jim Lee Amos, 62, of Morrisonville died 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, Taylorville.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with the Rev. Mike Warner officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer.

Mr. Amos was born May 3, 1940, in Garden City, Kan., the son of Joe Jasper Amos and Kate Nora Caldwell. He was a coal miner for Crown Mine, Virden. He was a member of New Hope Assembly of God. He married Mary Frances McKinney on Aug. 14, 1965, in St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morrisonville.

Surviving are sons, Jimmie Amos of Morrisonville; Blaine Amos of Virden; Carl Amos and wife Sherri of Collinsville; Gregory Amos and wife Susanne of Morrisonville; Mark Amos and wife Jeri of Carlinville; daughter, Brenda Palmer of Morrisonville; 19 grandchildren; brothers, Herman Amos and wife Dot of Edinburg; Cecil Amos and wife Delia of Pawnee; Clifford Amos and wife Mary of Holcomb, Kan.; sisters, Dorothy Northcraft and husband Ronnie of Nokomis; Lavona McKinney and husband Chuck of Argenta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Bergman

BIBLE GROVE -- Helen E. Bergman, 93, Bible Grove, homemaker, died Friday (Feb. 14, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Visitation: two hours before services. Burial: Orchard Hill, Louisville.

Dyer

LINCOLN -- Roger Dale Dyer, 41, Lincoln, died Thursday (Feb. 13, 2003).

Memorial services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln. No visitation. Burial: Green Pond Cemetery, White Hall. Memorials: Hospice Care of Illinois.

Boggs

VANDALIA -- Carl Boggs, 74, Vandalia, retired from Old Capitol Monument Works, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia. Memorials: American Diabetes. Association or American Heart Association.

Korean War veteran. Survivors: wife, Pauline; sons, Chuck Boggs, Vandalia; Gary Boggs, Taylorsville, Ky.; Larry Boggs, Danville; brothers, Louis Boggs and Gene Boggs, both of Brownstown; Roy Boggs, Vandalia; Hugh Boggs, Onaway, Mich.; sister, Ethel Augenstein, Vandalia; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Preceded by: parents, one son, three brothers and two sisters.

Britton

SHELBYVILLE -- Doris R. Shutt Britton, 98, of Shelbyville died 10:55 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 13, 2003) in Shelbyville Manor.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials: First Christian Church of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Britton was born Aug. 29, 1904, the daughter of John and Delia Gallagher Shutt. She was a school teacher for two years before going to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in the accounting department. She retired as personnel manager at the Atomic Energy Department. She was a member of First Christian Church of Shelbyville. She married Loren Britton on May 7, 1925. He preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1959.

Surviving are her nieces, Donice Douthit Payne of Tampa, Fla.; Clara Douthit of Lincoln; several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Lavone; two sisters, Vetrice Marshall and Bonnie Douthit.

Duff

CLAY CITY -- Betty Jo Duff, 81, Clay City, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora.
