Bourne

MOWEAQUA -- Freda Eleanor Bourne, 87, of Normal, formerly of Moweaqua, died 10:35 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) in Manor Care, Normal.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church, Moweaqua. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First United Methodist Church or Greater Illinois Chapter of Alzheimer's in Bloomington-Normal, 405 Pine St., Suite A, Normal, IL 61761.

Freda was born May 2, 1915, in Noble, the daughter of Fred and Lulu Evans Junkins. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Charles Russell Bourne on May 5, 1934, in Noble. He preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1968.

Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Bourne of Bloomington; son-in-law, Bill Adkisson of Bloomington; granddaughter, Tolise Adkisson of Palm Harbor, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

MORRISONVILLE -- Sylvia Estell "Pepper" Mahan, 68, of Chatham, formerly of Morrisonville, died 10 p.m. Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) in her residence in Chatham.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer.

Mrs. Mahan was born March 3, 1934, in Byrdstown, Tenn., the daughter of Wesley Pierson and Bertha Jane Rigney Dowdy. She was a retired bartender of Fritz's Wagon Wheel, Springfield. She married Charles Leon Mahan on Feb. 9, 1952, in Taylorville.

Surviving are her daughters, Jane and husband Bernie Held of Plainfield; Gayle Nickey of Chatham; Rhonda and husband Don Harris of Chatham; son, Jeff and wife Cheryl Mahan of Madison, Miss.; grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Kevin Como of Raymore, Mo.; Melissa Held of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Jason Held and Rebecca Held, both of Plainfield; Tera Mahan of Russellville, Ark.; Jessika Mahan, Amanda Mahan and Adam Mahan, all of Madison, Miss.; Justin Harris of Tucson, Ariz.; Ashley Harris of Chatham; Michael Nickey and Kevin Nickey, both of Chatham; great-grandchild, Vincent Como of Raymore, Mo.; brother, Roy and wife Virginia Dowdy of Palmer; sisters, Elizabeth Cravens of Taylorville; Wanda Lowis of Palmer; Nellie and husband Edward Fleming of Palmer; Chrystell "Chris" Lowis of Springfield; Deanna and husband Ronald Palaschak of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leta Belvia Hogge; and brother, Windell Ray Dowdy.
