Blanche Ida Halsey of Elk Grove Village
Services for Blanche Ida Halsey (nee Ruegge), 95, will be held at 3 p.m. today, at the Lutheran Church of St. Luke, 410 S. Rush St., Itasca.
Born in Tilden, Neb., she died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at her home.
Interment will be in St. Luke Cemetery, Itasca.
One of 11 children, Mrs. Halsey had at one time worked as a rural school teacher in Nebraska. Later she worked with her husband as a floral greenhouse worker until she retired in 1969.
A resident of Elk Grove Village for 34 years, she was a member of the Elk Grove Senior Center, a member of Saints Alive, and a 54-year member of the Lutheran Church of St. Luke in Itasca.
She was the beloved wife for 70 years of the late Isom Halsey, who preceded her on Jan. 6, 1999; loving mother of Maurice E. (Dorothy) Halsey of Summerville, S. C.; cherished grandmother of Charles (Hattie) Halsey of Columbia, S. C., and Elizabeth (Robert) Brown of Summerville; great-grandmother of Jessie and Heather Halsey, and Whitney and Hannah Brown; and dear sister of Earl (Hazel) Ruegge of Elgin, Wilma Gregory of Lincoln, Neb., and Jean Schwarzwalder ofElgin.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services today, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of St. Luke, 410 S. Rush St., Itasca, IL 60143.
Arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village.

Theodora Homatas (nee Thomas), 90, of Addison, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. Arrangements were made by Humes Funeral Home, Addison, (630) 628-8808.

Sophie Howard of Elgin
Services for Sophie Howard (nee Shimkus), will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, and continue with a 10 a.m. chapel service, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Rd.), Roselle.
Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
She was the beloved wife of the late James; devoted mother of Ronald (Nancy), James, and Barbara (Joseph) Russell; dear sister of Helen Gracious; fond grandmother of David, Richard and Dana Howard, Robert (Diane) and Paul Russell; and great-grandmother of one.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral chapel.

George L. Jilka Sr.
Services for George L. Jilka Sr. will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at ColonialWojciechowski Funeral Home, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Cornelius Church. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Jilka was a veteran, having served in the Coast Guard.
He was the beloved husband of Anita Jilka (nee Winkel); loving father of Ruthann Giebelhausen-Trudeau, Diane Stacey, Georgann Roberts and George (Joanne) Jilka Jr.; devoted grandfather of 10; and great-grandfather of one. He was also the fond brother of Lorraine Stroka and the late Dorothy Leesley and Casey Jilka.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Violet E. Johnson of Elgin
Funeral services for Violet E. Johnson, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with the Rev. Paul Meyers officiating.
Born Sept. 30, 1917, in DeKalb County, she died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson had been a resident of Elgin since she was 17 years old. She had been employed by Illinois Tool Works for 23 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and a past member of the Ladies of the Elks.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Johnson; daughters, Sue A. Johnson of Elgin and Sandra L. (Philip) Kenyon of Plato Center; grandsons, Todd and Kyle Kenyon; great-granddaughters, Tamara and Melissa; and brother, David C. (Dorothy) Johnson of Cortland, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth Erwin.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Illinois Elks Crippled Children Fund or the Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Loretta Kostak of Arlington Heights
Prayers for Loretta Kostak (nee Werdell), 80, will be said at 9:45 a.m. Monday, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. at Northwest Hwy., Mount Prospect. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Wayside Church.
Born April 10, 1918, in Chicago, she died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at home. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
She was the wife of the late Albert; mother of Warren and Alan Kostak and Karen Von Dissen; grandmother of Diedra, Traci, Troy, Kiley, Amy and Becky; great-grandmother of Adrianne; and sister of Frances Graszer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Evelyn Laseman of Elgin
Funeral services for Evelyn Laseman, 87, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin, with the Rev. Peter Borzeka officiating.
Born Oct. 7, 1911, in Elgin, the daughter of Frank and Frida Koch Rystron, she died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in Wisconsin. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
A lifelong Elgin resident, Mrs. Laseman was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest; daughters, Sandy Heine and Judy (Gerry) Nash, both of Elgin; son, Jerry (Sandy) Christenson of Genoa; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Marion Cremeensof Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, and two sisters.

Ruth C. Madison of Des Plaines
Services for Ruth C. Madison (nee Jewell), 87, will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born Feb. 18, 1911, in Chicago, she died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Oakton Pavillion. Interment will be private, in Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Madison had been employed as a grocery clerk.
She was the beloved wife of the late George Madison; loving mother of Lawrence Madison of Chicago, Patricia (James) Impola of Wheaton and Sharon Madison of Des Plaines; cherished grandmother of Sherri (Lance) Andersen, Kim Fortier, Kelly (Eric) Elfstrom, Larry (Ann) Impola, Michael Impolaand Kerry Impola; and great-grandmother of eight.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Margaret K. Martin of Wheaton
A funeral Mass for Margaret K. Martin (nee Keelan), 88, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Michael Church, Illinois and West Streets, Wheaton. Family and friends should meet at the church.
She died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at Wynscape Nursing Home, Wheaton.
Burial will be in Wheaton Cemetery.
A resident of Wheaton for 20 years, Mrs. Martin was a volunteer for the Wheaton History Center and the WheatonPolice Department, and a board member of the Wheaton Library. She was also very active with the Senior Citizens ofthe Wheaton Park District and St. Michael Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Goddard; daughter-in-law, MarciaMartin; grandchildren, Elizabeth Martin, Charles (Wendy) Martin and Eve Angler; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bud, and sister, Deedee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Martin; and son, Robert J. Martin, the former mayor of Wheaton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, at Williams Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton.
Donations in her memory to the Wheaton History Center, 606 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, would be greatly appreciated.

Leo Miks formerly of Waukegan
Chapel services for Leo Miks, 91, of Indianapolis, Ind., also formerly of Florida, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville.
Born Oct. 18, 1909, in Waukegan, Mr. Miks died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He lived in Indianapolis for several years. He retired in 1972, from US Steel and Wire after 35 years of service. He was a former member of Mother of God Church, Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council #731 and K. S. K. J. St. Joseph Lodge #53.
Survivors include his wife of60 years, Helen (nee Lidik); son, Leo of Lodi, Calif.; daughters, Liz Godby of Indianapolis and Diane (David) Kentof Glendale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Joseph (Jean) Miks of Waukegan and John (Teresa) Miks of Green Oaks, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony, Frank, Stanley and Deacon Albin Miks.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Salata Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Clara L. O'Leary of Hoffman Estates
Funeral services for Clara L. O'Leary, 85, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Saunders and McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard.
The Rev. Edgar Hiestand Jr. will officiate.
Born March 18, 1913, in Crystal Lake, she died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at her home. Interment willbe in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Marengo.
Mrs. O'Leary had been employed by Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance in Chicago for 10 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Maureen (Richard) Simmermon of Hoffman Estates; son, Daniel O'Leary of Lyons, Ill.; grandchildren, Ricky Simmermon, Sherri (Richard) Bertram, Timothy and Jeffrey Simmermon, Carole (David) Cooper and Kelly O'Leary, and Patrick, Patricia, and Michelle O'Leary; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Cooper; sister, Maybelle (Charles) Nieman of Harvard; and daughter-in-law, Marge O'Leary of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, whom she married Feb. 16, 1935 in Hartland, Ill., and who diedOct. 28, 1967; son, Donald M.; three brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice, c/o Alexian Brothers Hospital.
