Sandrisser

SULLIVAN -- Rolf K. Sandrisser, 71, of Sullivan died 2:15 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) in Sullivan Health Care.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: B Positive Inc., 501, in care of 3 Charitable Corp., helping children with Fanconi Anemia and conducting bone marrow drives, 533, Chesterfield, Mo. 63006.

Mr. Sandrisser was born March 5, 1931, in Massenbach, Germany, the son of Ludwig and Marie Boger Sandrisser. He was a retired owner and barber at Ralph's Barber Shop, Sullivan, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan. He married Ruth Miltenberger on Sept. 18, 1952, in Schluchtern, Germany.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Heidi Young of Dewitt, Mich.; Evelyn Taylor of Sullivan; Diane Pearl of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Kurt Sandrisser of Ashmore; Willie Sandrisser, Gunther Sandrisser and Klaus Sandrisser, all of Germany; seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Overy

FLORA -- Darlene J. Overy, 65, Flora, formerly of Louisville, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003).

No services. Arrangements by: Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora.

Maher

TAYLORVILLE -- Mark G. Maher, 43, Springfield, father of Mindy Morgan of Taylorville, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Memorials: American Diabetes. Association.

Rhoads

ALTAMONT -- Jerry M. Rhoads, 78, West Warwick, R.I., entreprenuer, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Mount Moriah Cemetery, St. Elmo, with military rites. Memorials: Mount Moriah Cemetery.

World War II Army veteran. Member: Disabled American Veterans, Providence, R.I. Survivors: brother, Herman Legare Rhoads, Washington; stepbrother, Howard Matthew, Jacksonville. Preceded by: wife, Evelyn; one brother.

Schneider

NOKOMIS -- Velma I. Schneider, 94, Nokomis, homemaker, died Sunday (Feb. 23, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Burial: St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nokomis.

Young

MATTOON -- Doris Ester DeLaney Young, 81, of Mattoon passed away 7:55 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) in her home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Kingery officiating. Visitation will be three hours before services. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon.

Mrs. Young was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Effingham, the daughter of Charles and Mary Kraemer DeLaney. She was a charter member of the American Business Women's Association. She was employed by several retail companies in Mattoon and had retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier days, she enjoyed boating. She also took pleasure in the companionship of her dogs. She married Paul Young in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Surviving are her children, Charles Young and wife Carol of Mattoon; Judy Clark and husband Tim of Hillsboro; Joyce Scheibler and husband Steve of Tonganoxie, Kan.; Roger Young of Mattoon; Jayne Pezeshk and husband Shahram of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters, Ilene Chestnut and husband Bob of Dietrich; Julia "Jerry" Hetzer of Beecher City; brother, Elmer Young and wife Mona of Mattoon; several nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Butler

DECATUR -- Harry J. Butler Sr., 68, of Decatur passed away 3:15 p.m. Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) in his home, surrounded by his family.

There will be no services. Memorial visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Arrangements by: Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials: DMH Home Health & Hospice Services.

Mr. Butler was born May 2, 1934, in Decatur, the son of John and Elizabeth Patterson Butler. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. after 31 years as a machine repairman. He married Janet S. Finnegan on Jan. 2, 1955, in Palmyra, Mo.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years; grandson, Jeremy Beavers, at home; son, Harry James "Jim" Butler and wife Jennifer of Sheboygan, Wis.; daughters, Ruth Cowser and husband Don of DeLand; Teresa Beavers and companion Gary Taylor of Decatur; brother, Chuck Butler and wife Donna of California; sister, Margaret Balding of Michigan; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.

Duggan

MOUNT ZION -- Michael Duggan, 87, of Mount Zion died 12:40 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mount Zion. Visitation was Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Memorials: Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Duggan was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Dalton City, the son of Stephen A. Duggan and Clara V. Moore Duggan. He was an A. E. Staley Mfg. Co. machinist for 45 years. He was a founding member of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mount Zion, a member of Knights of Columbus, Mount Zion Fire Dept. volunteer, former Mount Zion law enforcement marshal, 1966 graduate of Millikin University, Boy Scout Master of Troop 43, Mount Zion, member of VFW Post 99 and instrumental in starting the safety committee for Staley
s. He was in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Lenora Alice Osborne on June 18, 1938. She preceded him in death June 22, 1996.

Surviving are his sons, Michael Duggan and wife Sandra of Greeley, Colo.; Dan Duggan and wife Barbara of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Kathleen Leitzell and husband Harry of Clarendon Hills; grandchildren, John Duggan and wife Patty of Honolulu, Hawaii; Robert Duggan of New Orleans, La.; Kevin and Brady Duggan, both of Greeley; Michael Duggan and Kristen Wright, both of St. Louis; Tara Leitzell of Clarendon Hills; Harry Leitzell III of Pittsburgh, Pa.; great-grandson, Sean Michael Duggan of Honolulu; great-granddaughter, Sarah Kahealani Duggan of Honolulu.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers; four sisters.

Durbin

DECATUR -- Todd W. Durbin, 39, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003).

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. Steve Devore officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service Inc. i
s in charge of arrangements.

Todd was born June 30, 1963, in Decatur, the son of Denny L. and Linda L. Durbin. Todd lived the past 20 years in Florida and was manager of TRX fulfillment services in Milton, Fla.

Surviving are his son, Scott Willard Durbin of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; mother, Linda L. and husband Lyle Culberson of Macomb; father, Denny L. and wife Gloria Durbin of Decatur; fiancee, Judy Daniels of Pensacola; sister, Lisa and husband Chad Anderson of Woodstock, Ga.; brother, Dennis L. and wife Tammy Durbin of Peoria; several aunts, uncles, and cousins of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Hogan

DECATUR -- Alice B. Hogan, 81, Decatur, died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church or Imboden Creek Living Center.

Johnson

DECATUR -- Nancy Irene Johnson, 94, of Decatur was called home to be with her beloved husband, Ralph, at 1:23 p.m. Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) in Imboden Creek Living Center, where she had been living with her friends since Feb. 6, 2001.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Wray Offerman officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul s Lutheran Church.

Irene was born Dec. 5, 1908, near Mount Vernon, the daughter of George Washington and Mary Frances Bishop Green. She was a member of St. Paul s Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and helpmate to her husband of 67 years. They worked together, farming through the depression, and during World War II, owned a boarding house while he was in the service. She kept Millikin students after the war subsided and until 1980, while her husband worked at A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. They had a nice life here and will enjoy eternity together. Irene married Ralph Burton Johnson on Dec. 24, 1934, in Champaign. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 2000.

Surviving are her son, Ralph Gerald "Jerry" Johnson and wife Pam of Decatur; grandsons, Robert Gerald and wife Loreen of Ocala, Fla.; Jeffery Alan Johnson and wife Su of Altus Air Force Base, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kristena, Jessica and KaBin; sister-in-law, Thelma Green of Flippin, Ark.; nieces, Glenda Davis of Bloomington; Mable Harris of DuQuoin; nephews, Donald Green and wife Sharon of Sesser; Leslie Howard Green
and wife Fran of Flippin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, one sister, three stepbrothers and two stepsisters.

She gave of herself freely and will be very much missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank the staff, residents and the families of Imboden Creek Living Center for the wonderful care, love, kindness and compassion you extended to our mother and us.

McCammack

DECATUR -- Charles McCammack, 79, of Decatur died Monday (Feb. 24, 2003) in his home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with the Rev. Doug Lowery officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials: Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Brownstown, Maranatha Assembly of God Church, or Shriner s Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131.

Mr. McCammack was born May 24, 1923, in St. Elmo, the son of Ernest and Cleta McCammack. Charles served in the Navy and retired from Kmart in 1987. He married Marilyn Sefton on Aug. 30, 1947, in Vandalia.

Surviving are his wife; children, Mick (Debbie) McCammack, Janet Stead and Cheryl (Dave) Griffiths, all of Decatur; brothers, Jim (Wilma) McCammack of Hillsboro; Virgil McCammack of Decatur; grandchildren, Wendi (Tim) McKenzie and Jamie (Jon) Smith, both of Plainfield; Jill (Justin) Eighner of Monticello; Jeremy (Nicki) McCammack, Jake McCammack, Angie McCammack, Chad Stead and Matthew and Michael Griffiths, all of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Connor and Sam McKenzie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Charlie was dearly loved by all.

McMillan

DECATUR -- Harry A. McMillan, 61, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died Feb. 14, 2003.

Services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Dormont Methodist Church, -1641 Potomac Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa. A private cremation was celebrated in Florida. Memorials: Hospice of Southwest Florida, East Manatee Team, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238. Arrangements by: The Good Earth Crematory, Bradenton, Fla.

Perry

DECATUR -- Albert Perry, 67, Decatur, died Monday (Feb. 24, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Powell

DECATUR -- Robert E. "Boob" Powell, 50, Decatur, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003).

MATTOON -- Cedric Eugene "Ted" Bennett, 76, Fairhope, Ala., formerly of Mattoon, died Sunday (Feb. 23, 2003).
