MATTOON -- Sydney Nicole Parks, infant daughter of Lee and Melody Parks of Mattoon, died 4:29 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003) in Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, with visitation 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Sydney was born Feb. 22, 2003, in Chicago, the daughter of Lee Alen and Melody Shawn Carry Parks.
Surviving are her parents; grandparents, George L. and Huicha "Jan" Parks and Edward "Ed" and Yvonne Carry, all of Decatur; maternal aunt, Jen and Pat Bodine of Mount Zion; paternal uncle, Erik and Brigitte Parks of Aurora; paternal aunt, Nancy and Kent Knautz of Round Lake.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County, Northwestern Hospital in Chicago and especially Children's Memorial Hospital and Ronald McDonald House in Chicago.

DECATUR -- Vivian D. Cole, 77, of Decatur died 10:52 p.m. Saturday (March 1, 2003) in her home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: American Heart Association or St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cole was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Woonsocket, R.I., the daughter of John and Lena Benoit Landry.
Mrs. Cole was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Cole was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married Arnold Robert Cole on Dec. 31, 1945, in Woonsocket. He preceded her in death March 16, 1987.
Surviving are her children, Lorraine Byers and husband Frank Sr., Lynn Robert Cole and Leslie Robinson and husband Chris, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Paulette Ooton of Tampa, Fla.; Scotty Ooton of Jacksonville; Matthew Pappas of Dallas, Texas; Jason Pappas of Decatur; Jeremy Robinson and wife Rene'e9 of Decatur; Kristen Robinson and fianc'e9 Brian Bunch of Decatur; Antonio Robinson of Decatur; Michaela and Michael Cole, both of Decatur; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Trudel and husband Jean of Bellingham, Mass.; Lena Picard and husband Ed of Cumberland, R.I.; brother, Conrad Landry and wife Sue of Beaverton, Ore.;a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, one brother, granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

DECATUR -- Burnice Mildred Hanes, 95, of Houston, Alaska, formerly of Decatur, died Feb. 23, 2003.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Hanes was born Jan. 26, 1908, in Tilton, the daughter of William Robert and Mary Margaret Sanns Ross. She was a seamstress at the Decatur Garment Factory. She married Robert W. Stanley. She then married Jacob F. Hanes in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Surviving are her sons, Peter F. Hanes and wife Jayne of Mount Zion; William Hanes and wife Jean of Springfield; daughters, Dixie L. Light and husband Mort of Houston, Alaska; Margaret Walters and husband Victor of Decatur; Martha McDonald of Marion; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
