Romer

MOUNT PULASKI -- Helen Romer, 92, of Mount Pulaski died 9:07 a.m. Monday (March 3, 2003) in St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaksi, with the Rev. Ken Berryman officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials: St. John's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Romer was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Decatur, the daughter of Oran R. and Alma Brust Gulick. She was a retired farmer and housewife. She was affiliated with St. John's Lutheran Church, Mount Pulaski. She was a past member of Logan County Farm Bureau and Home Extension, former member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge in Decatur, past member of the Woman s Club and Garden Club of Mount Pulaski. She graduated from Brown's Business college in 1929. She married Clarence Romer on Jan. 5, 1946, in Decatur. He preceded her in death March 23, 1958.

Surviving are her son, Dean Romer of Lincoln; stepdaughter, Marilyn (Jim) Leonard of Illiopolis; brother, Herbert (Daisy) Gulick of Decatur; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Atherton

DECATUR -- Robert Atherton, 80, Decatur, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Claypool

DECATUR -- Charles W. "Bill" Claypool, 68, Decatur, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service Inc.

Coins

DECATUR -- Sophronia M. Coins, 89, Decatur, formerly of Stonington, died Thursday (March 6, 2003) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be Monday in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton. Memorials: St. Jude Children s Hospital.

Sophronia was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Shelby County, the daughter of Albert Jackson and Ora Victoria Cottrall Fry. She married Berlie Louis Coins on Feb. 3, 1934, in Stonington. He preceded her in death March 19, 1971.

Surviving are her children, Albert Lewis Coins and wife Joyce of North Carolina; William E. Coins and wife Myrna of Decatur; Ronald L. Coins and wife Marilou of Arkansas; Victoria "Vickie" Carter and husband Jim of Springfield; Sarah Altevogt and husband Homer of Decatur; sister, Marie Batterton of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, three brothers, three sisters and one baby boy.

Cornell

DECATUR -- Noah H. Cornell, 85, of Decatur died Tuesday (March 4, 2003).

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Woodworth officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials: Meals on Wheels.

Noah was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Route Oakley, the son of Herbert Otis and Rosa Alice Krall Cornell. He was employed as an Archer Daniels Midland Co. electrician for 42 years, retiring in January of 1982. As a child, Noah attended Church of the Brethren i
n Cerro Gordo. A World War II Navy veteran, Noah was a member of Grain Millers Local 103. He married Violet H. Million on June 14, 1938, in Monticello. She preceded him in death Aug. 18, 2000.

Surviving are his son, Jim Cornell (Judy) of Decatur; brother, Edward L. Cornell of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Steve Cornell (Vicki) of Decatur; David Cornell (Jackie) of Decatur; Cathy Funk (Rob) of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Becky, Jeremy, Chelsie, Kayla, Haylee and Ryan; great-great-grandchildren, Chasity, Destiny and Jersey; stepgrandson, Steve Brown; great-stepgrandchildren, Jeremy and Megan; great-great-stepgrandchildren, Brent and Ashley; special friends, Mike and Kathy Burkham of Mount Zion; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and sisters.

Special thanks to the 911 response team, Decatur Ambulance Service, Decatur Memorial Hospital E.R. staff, Coroner Mike Day, Pastor Richard Woodworth and Dr. John Newlin and staff for their many years of care and concern.

l Noah,r (Dad-Grandpa) you were so good to so many. Thank-you. We will miss you.

Ingram

DECATUR -- Mark William Ingram, 20, of Decatur died 10 p.m. Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Decatur Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit, Central Illinois Branch of the Leukemia
Lymphoma Society or Richland Community College.

Mr. Ingram was born July 5, 1982, in Decatur, the son of Ronald Keith and Sue Ann Ingram. He was a student at Richland Community College, an Eagle Scout and an assistant scout master of Boy Scout Troop 5, Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mark was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his parents; brothers, Ronald K. (Laura) Ingram III of Decatur; Matthew D. (MaryKate) Ingram of Mount Zion; sister, Dana (Jason) Kretsinger; nine nephews and nieces; grandmothers, Iris Burns of Millington, Michigan and Olga Gordon of Portland, Michigan.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Decatur Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit and the intensive care unit for their uplifting care during Mark's illness.

DECATUR -- Rachael Campbell King, 90, Decatur, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003).

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday, St. John s Episcopal Church. Arrangements by: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Memorials: St. John s Episcopal Church, Children s Museum or Decatur Arts Council.

DECATUR -- Harold Eli Lents, 94, East Peoria, formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003).

Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation: one hour before services in the church. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Memorials: St. Teresa High School.

Maxwell

HARRISTOWN -- Robert Lloyd "Bob" Maxwell, 51, Harristown, retired from Bridgestone/Firestone Inc., died Tuesday (March 4, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Harristown Township Cemetery with military rites. Memorials: Disabled Vietnam Veterans.

McKown

DECATUR -- William Arnold "Bill" McKown, 71, Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Decatur, passed away peacefully Tuesday (March 4, 2003) in his home after a two-year battle with cancer, with his family and friends by his side.

Graveside services were in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Bill was born July 23, 1931, the son of Ralph and Mary McKown. He was one of three children. He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1953, a position he held with great pride. He retired from PPG Industries in Decatur.

He married JoAnn Masters of Decatur on Dec. 18, 1954, a woman he loved deeply. They were fortunate to be blessed with a son, Randy Alan, of whom Bill was so proud. Bill was a family man who loved baseball, sports and collecting things.

Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years; son, Randy and wife Barbara of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephew, Tom McKown and wife Barb of Jamestown, Ohio, their daughter, her child and their son and his two children; sister-in-law, Vicki Bourn and husband Robert of Decatur; niece, Kim Delibac and husband Forde of Mount Zion; Kim's children, Jarid and Kaylee, whom Bill treated as his own grandchildren; aunt, Shirley Steele and husband Kenneth of Decatur; many friends whom he held close to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, LeRoy and sister, Sharon.

WARRENSBURG -- Harriett Lelia Oxley, 84, Warrensburg, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home.

DECATUR -- Peter Parenti, 90, Decatur, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

DECATUR -- Leam Chandler Ponewash, 90, Decatur, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003).

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, St. Paul s Lutheran Church. Visitation: one hour before services in the church. Burial: Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements by: J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Memorials: Alzheimer unit at Manor Care Nursing Home or St. Paul s Lutheran Church.

Pryczynski

DECATUR -- Pearl Pryczynski, 71, of Decatur passed away 12:40 p.m. Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in People Church of God with the Rev. Marlin Jaynes officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials: donor s choice.

Pearl was born June 28, 1931, in Decatur, the daughter of Ben O. and Harriet C. Askew Williams. She was an excellent waitress who knew how to take care of her customers. She loved to play bingo and pinochle and many other games. She was very fun-loving, always quick with a joke and could always make you laugh.

Surviving are her daughter, Sally Morehouse of Decatur; sons, Leonard Pryczynski and wife Jody of Strafford, Mo.; Michael Pryczynski of Casper, Wyo.; sitters, Norma Hall and Peggy Gilmar, both of Decatur; sister-in-law, Edna Williams of Oregon; grandchildren, Aron, Shane, Jordan and Sarah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Shadley

DECATUR -- Dorothy Shadley, 79, of Decatur passed away 11 a.m. Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in McKinley Court Nursing Home, under the care of hospice.

There will be no services or visitation. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.

Mrs. Shadley was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., the only daughter of Andrew and Adolphine Voland Knaus.

Surviving are her daughter, Carla Seale and husband Dennis of Decatur; grandchildren, Andrew Seale and Amelia Dalton; great-grandson, Alexander Cole Dalton.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to DMH Home Health & Hospice Services for all of their loving care.

Vieth

DECATUR -- Judith "Kay" Vieth, 59, Decatur, secretary, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in St. Mary s Hospital.

Services: 7 p.m. Friday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation: two hours before services.

DECATUR -- Ruth Lorraine Wallis, 94, Decatur, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003).

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Friday, Union Cemetery, Oreana. Visitation: one hour before services, Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home.

Berry

SULLIVAN -- Helen Louise Berry, Sullivan, formerly of Nokomis, died Thursday (March 6, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Kettlekamp Funeral Home, Nokomis.

Member: United Methodist Church. Survivors: daughter, Joann Pryor, Sullivan; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Preceded by: husband, Albert; parents and two brothers.
