Walker
DECATUR -- Fannie Mae "Big Mama" Taylor Walker, 92, of Decatur, formerly of Brownsville, Tenn., peacefully departed 8:25 p.m. Friday (March 7, 2003) in Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
Services will be noon Saturday in St. James Church of God in Christ, Brownsville, with Elder Leon Young officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Community Temple Church of God in Christ, Decatur, and one hour before services in St. James Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Rosenwald Cemetery, Brownsville. Walker Funeral Service and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walker was born June 3, 1910, in Brownsville, the daughter of Tom and Francis Taylor. She worked for Mr. and Mrs. Shane Roy for many years. She retired from the Winter Garden in Bells, Tenn. She was a former member of St. James COGIC in Brownsville and a current member of the Community Temple COGIC in Decatur. She served on the Mother's Board of the church. She was an excellent cook, specializing in baking pies. She was married to the Rev. Nathan Walker. He preceded her in death.
She leaves not to mourn, but to cherish memories, her daughters, Lucille (Arthur) Young Sr., Callie Mae (Eldridge) Taylor Sr. and Vunner "Dee Dee" Pirtle, all of Decatur; sister, Mellie Taylor of Mansfield, Ohio; brother, Tom Taylor of Bells; 38 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; 71 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three children, five sisters, one brother and two sons-in-law.
The family would like to thank the staff of Aspen Ridge Care Centre.
She was loved dearly and will be missed by her family. Fannie "Big Mama" was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed. She is gone from our presence, but never from our hearts.

DECATUR -- Orvin F. Smith, 88, of Metamora, formerly of Decatur, died 5:57 p.m. Monday (March 10, 2003) in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Washington, Ill., with Pastor David Likeness and Pastor Wray Offermann of Decatur officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sibley. Deiters Funeral Home, Washington, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Garber, the son of John H. and Emma Sehmann Smith. He was a World War II
Army veteran, serving as a corporal from Dec. 8, 1943, until March 16, 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He did clerical work for Shell Oil Co. in Harristown for 27 years, retiring in 1968. He also did volunteer work for Lutheran School Association in Decatur. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur. He was also a member of American Legion Martin H. Suntken Post 244 in Sibley, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Irene M. Fricke on June 12, 1941, in Rantoul.
Surviving are are his wife; sons, Howard (Patti) Smith of Houston, Texas; Richard (Betsy) Smith of Washington; Charles (Mary) Smith of Casper, Wyo.; sister, Esther Becker of Gibson City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Lumpp was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Shelby County, the daughter of Eber and Rose Turney Manning. She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Shelbyville and was affiliated with First Christian Church of Shelbyville. She loved to play bingo. She married Leverett Eugene Lumpp on July 25, 1948, in Shelbyville.
Surviving are her husband; son, Bradley Lumpp of Shelbyville; daughter, Becky Eversole and husband Buster of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Brandy and Brian; great-grandchild, Mackenzie Perry; brother, Eldon Manning and wife Charlotte of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lyle Edwards Lumpp; parents; one brother; two sisters.
