DECATUR -- W. Dean Tertocha, 77, Decatur, died Monday (March 10, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

Schafer

DECATUR -- Gertrude H. Schafer, 81, of Decatur passed away 4:20 p.m. Tuesday (March 11, 2003) in Lincoln Manor.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Visitation will be one hour before services. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Memorial Estate Cemetery, Moline.

Gertrude was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Rodalben, Germany, the daughter of George and Marie Marhoefer Thurwanger. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Silver Bells Band, PTA, Brownies, Girl Scouts and was the greeting card lady for the Oxford House in Decatur. She married Edward Schafer Jr. on April 6, 1942, in Kewanee. He preceded her in death in February 1991.

Surviving are her daughters, Carol Jean Black and husband William R. of Moline; Mary Lynne Wallace and husband Richard of Decatur; son, Ronald L. Schafer and wife Mary Jo of Fond Du Lac, Wis.; grandchildren, Richard Wallace and wife Stephanie Burtner-Wallace of River Falls, Wis.; Brian Wallace of Wood River; Jason R. Black of Moline; Jenny L. Black of Moline; Michael L. Schafer and Nicholas A. Schafer of Fond Du Lac; brother, Walter J. Thurwanger and wife Judy of Aurora, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and grandson, Jacob.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of Lincoln Manor and St. John's Hospice for the devoted care they gave Gertrude. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

DECATUR -- Howard L. Stuart, 74, Decatur, died Wednesday (March 12, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Cerro Gordo.

ROBINSON -- Iantha Joy Bailey, 91, Robinson, retired licensed practical nurse, died Tuesday (March 11, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and before services Saturday. Burial: Palestine Cemetery. Memorials: Lincolnland Hospice, Charleston.

Barkoozis

COWDEN -- Charles G. Barkoozis, 71, Cowden, Pace Bus Co. RTA operator, died Wednesday (March 12, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Cowden. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial: Mound Cemetery, Cowden.

United States National Guard veteran. Survivors: wife, Clara; sons, Greg Barkoozis, Elmhurst; Jim Barkoozis, Palatine; daughters, Karen Vozas, Palatine; Toni Fuhrman, Cowden; Diane Weichbrodt, Melrose Park; Chris Miller, Cowden; brother, John Barkoozis, Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Barbara McCutcheon, Chicago; Bernie Smith, Woodridge; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Preceded by: parents and one granddaughter.

Bingaman

MATTOON -- J. Wallace "Wally" Bingaman, 78, Mattoon, formerly of Neoga, died Tuesday (March 11, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Neoga. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, with 7 p.m. wake service. Burial: Neoga Memorial Cemetery. Memorials: Agricultural Department at Neoga High School.

Member: Immaculate Conception Church, Mattoon, and Cumberland County Farm Bureau. Survivors: daughters, Deborah "Debby" Ferguson, Mattoon; Cynthia "Cindy" Fulk, Belleville; five grandchildren. Preceded by: parents; wife, Kathy; two sisters; one grandson.

Chapman

MOUNT PULASKI -- George W. Chapman, 87, Mount Pulaski, retired from Mount Pulaski Products, died Tuesday (March 11, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Mount Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials: Hospice of Central Illinois.

Member: Civil Defense and REACT. Survivors: son, Kenneth L. Chapman, Mount Pulaski; daughter, Freda Gibbs, Cornland; brothers, Edwin Chapman, Streator; Otis Chapman, Mount Erie; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Preceded by: wife, Doris, one son, one grandchild, two brothers, one sister.

Clem

MATTOON -- James Michael Clem, 56, of Mattoon died 2:54 p.m. Saturday (March 8, 2003) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in God's Abundant Love Fellowship Church, Decatur, with Pastor Nick Hardin officiating. Friends will be received in the church fellowship hall following the services. Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan.

James was born Oct. 31, 1946, in Decatur, the son of James Byron and Wilma Johnson Clem.

Surviving are his mother, Wilma Kliest of Covington, Ga.; brothers, David A. Clem of Decatur; Gary L. Clem of Sullivan; sisters, Darlene Judd of Springfield; Mary Ellen Clem of Decatur; aunts, Shirley Damery of Phoenix, Ariz.; Doris Seib of Belleflower, Calif.; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Coffman

CERRO GORDO -- Shiela D. Coffman, 91, Cerro Gordo, teacher, died March 6, 2003.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Cerro Gordo. Burial: Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials: Hope Welty Public Library of Cerro Gordo.

ST. ELMO -- Leo W. Flowers, 78, St. Elmo, retired St. Elmo High School custodian, died Tuesday (March 11, 2003).

DALTON CITY -- Minnie Belle Nolan, 96, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Dalton City, retired Mount Zion School District teacher, died Tuesday (March 11, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Robison Chapel of First Christian Church, Amarillo. Burial: Llano Cemetery, Amarillo. Arrangements by: Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
