Meador
VANDALIA -- Verble Enola Meador, 89, of Vandalia died 5:32 p.m. Saturday (May 17, 2003) in Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First Pentecostal Church, Vandalia, with the Rev. Paul Cagle officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, is in charge of arrangements. Burial: Vernon Cemetery. Memorials: First Pentecostal Church Mission Department, Vandalia.
Mrs. Meador was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Sikeston, Mo., the daughter of David Williams and Martha Byford. She worked as a fancy stitcher at JS&S Shoe Factory in Vandalia until its closing. She then worked at the dress factory in Centralia until her retirement. She was affiliated with First Pentecostal Church of Vernon and served as secretary and Sunday school teacher for numerous years. Prior to her death, she was a dedicated member of First Pentecostal Church of Vandalia. She married Stewart Meador on July 3, 1936, in Vandalia.
Surviving are her husband; son, Daniel Robert Meador of Blue Mound; daughter, Ardith Ann Carman and husband Ernie of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Beth Binkley of Macon; Dani Noland and husband Dennis of Blue Mound; Connie Hobler and husband Mike and Sherri Workman and husband Scott, all of Vandalia; Sandra Harl and friend Troy Gibson of Ramsey; Trent Carman of Pocahontas; great-grandchildren, Marshall Binkley; Michael Hobler; Kendon Binkley; Angela Hobler; Michelle Harl; Danielle Harl; Arielle Harl; Chantelle Harl; Gabrielle Harl; Anthony Workman; Bailee Workman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Beverly Garland Meador; grandson, Brian Robert Meador; granddaughter, Karen Lee Thoman; brothers, Earnest Williams, David Williams and Herman "Jack" Williams; sisters, Betty Christman, Viola Meador and Beatress Rine; half brothers, Ray Williams and Dewey Williams; half sisters, Nellie Britton and Christie Bales.
Verble will be missed by her family and many friends.

Mrs. Wells was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Jackson County, Tenn., the daughter of Charlie and Julia Manier Burgess. She was a member of Bement United Methodist Church. She married David H. Wells on Sept. 5, 1942, in Rossville, Ga.
Surviving are her husband; sisters, Edith Moline Taylor of Bement; Minnie Peyton of Oxford, Mass.; Willa Dean James of Smyrna, Ga.; nephew, David Secrest; nieces, Wendy Highley, Angela Taylor and Tammy Allison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
