John S. Evans, 68 of Moline died January 29, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visiation will be 1-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Garden, East Moline. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established. John was born December 9, 1935 in Moline to Evan S. and Mildred Esterdahl Evans. He married Connie J. Schneekloth on May 30, 1959 at First Baptist Church, Moline. John was employed for over 35 years at American AirFilter as a shipping expediter retiring in 1985. He then worked for 18 years at First Midwest Bank, Moline in the maintenance department retiring in August of 2002. John was a member of First Baptist Church, Moline where he was a former deacon. He was a member of the Svithiod Club, Thor Lodge #9 of the Independent Order of Vikings and was an officer of the former Herman Nelson Credit Union. SURVIVORS: Wife, Connie Sons: Mark A. & Paula M. Evans, Moline, and John’s grandchildren, Bryce & Blake Evans Scott S. Evans & fiancee Teresa Gallagher, East Moline and Teresa’s children, Amber & Crey Gallagher Kurt W. Evans Aurora, IL, Sister: Janice (Emmett) Frey, Moline, Brother, Evan S. “Mike” (Sharon) Evans, Coal Valley He is also survived by extended family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marie A. Wirt, 94 of Moline died January 27, 2004 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visiatation will be Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Swedona Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Marie A. Peterson was born March 16, 1909 in Swedona to Alfred N. and Hannah M. Ferong Peterson. She married Howard O. Wirt on February 6, 1937 at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. He preceded her in death in September of 1969. Marie graduated from Sherrard High School and Brown’s Business College in Moline. She was employed by Royal Neighbors of America and at the Rock Island Arsenal from 1953 until January 1972. Marie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. She belonged to the Debra Unit of her church. She enjoyed traveling, playing piano, gardening, hiking and visiting with friends and relatives particularly her sisters and nieces. SURVIVORS: Son, Gary Lee Wirt, Chicago, IL Brother-in-law, Frank Bull, Jacksonville, FL 9 nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by sisters Lillian Peterson, Dorothy Bull and Frances Mayhew and a brother Leonard Peterson. Her daughter Susan Marie Wirt died at the age of two days in August 1947. Marie was loved for her kindness, her generous nature and her warm sense of humor. She led a full and happy life.

Beauchamp, Florence R.

Florence Rose Beauchamp, 89, beloved Christian mother and friend died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning at home, January 24, 2004. Private family services will be held in May 2004. Arrangements are by Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. Molinel. Florence was born June 4, 1914 in Rockford, IL to Mr. and Helen Dubin. She married Ward V. Beauchamp on January 29, 1948 in Winnebago Co., IL. Florence served as a secretary for many years at an oil company in Rockford. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Moline. She was also a member of Kings Daughters and happily contributed many years in the church library. She was a supporter of Disabled American Veterans and other charities. Florence enjoyed writing private poetry, letters and reading, especially Christian devotions. She is survived by her husband and sons Jon K. Beauchamp, Moline; Monte Beauchamp, Chicago, IL; and Marc Beauchamp, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Harvey “Bill” D. Dopler, 74 of Colona died January 24, 2004 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis IL. Visitation will be Tuesday January 27, 2004 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be 11:00 Wednesday January 28, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd. Burial will follow at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. military Rites will be conducted by Colona American Legion. Memorials may be made to an Eduacational Trust Fund for his Grandchildren. Harvey D. Dopler was born March 23, 1929 in Clinton County, Iowa the son of Dwight and Dorothy Lueders Dopler. He married Shirley A. Nelson on November 3, 1956 in East Moline. Harvey worked as a Pattern Maker with the John Deere Foundry E.M. retiring in 1987 after 41 years of service. Harvey was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War, he was a member of the Colona American Legion, he was a member of the Pattern Makers League of America, he was a Colona City Councilman for 16 years. He was a member of the Geneseo Country Club and the Vikings Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting morels and loved to golf, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. SURVIVORS: include Wife Shirley Dopler, Colona Daughter: Julie Peters (Brad) E.M. Son, Dennis (Sharon) Dopler, Bett. Grandchildren, Nichole, Ryan, Michael, Hayley, and Hannah, Sister: Elsie Sawyer, Colona Brothers: Dwight (Gabby) Dopler Jr., Port Byron Frank (Sandra) Dopler, Port Byron Several neices, nephews and cousins Harvey was preceeded by his parents, a sister Betty Foutch, and 2 infant brothers.

Dorothy L. Bjurstrom, 91 of Moline died January 21, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Dorothy Swanson was born February 12, 1912 in Monmouth, IL to Frederick Lawrence and Florence Bruyn Swanson. She married Arnold Bjurstrom on June 1, 1930 in Iowa City, IA. He prececed her in death on December 21, 1981. Dorothy was the secretary to the athletic director at Moline High School and retired in 1973 after 30 years of service. Dorothy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she served on the church council for many years. She was a former president for the Illinois Educational Secretary Association. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Friends of Rock Island Library, district coordinator for AARP and a member of Fort Night Club. SURVIVORS: Daughter & Son-in-law Barbara & Rev. Arnold V. Thoren, Rock Island Son & Daughter-in-law Ronald F. & Linda Bjurstrom, East Moline, Grandchildren: Pamela Thoren- Hall, Urbandale, IA Christine Thoren-Steger, Milan Elizabeth Thoren-Peterson Barry St. Edmonds Suffix, England UK Susan Bjurstrom-LeGros, Geneseo David Thoren, Boone, IA Scott Bjurstrom, Silver Springs, NV 12 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by a brother LeRoy Swanson, Sr.

Ronald was born March 19, 1928 in Abingdon, IL to Sherman and Mona Cline Holdridge. He married Marjorie Penderson. She preceded him in death in 1996. Ronald was on the managerial team for Navistar, retiring in 1983. Ronald was an U.S. Army veteran. He served as a supply segeant during the Korean War. Ronald was a member of Seventh Day Adventist, Davenport. He was also member of American Legion Post #569/200 and the VFW #1303 in Rock Island. He was an avid fisherman. Robert N. Frazelle, 58, of East Moline, died Monday January 19, 2004 at Illini Hospital, Silvis, IL. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Grace Bible Fellowship, Moline. Rev. Donald R. Plemons officiating. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd, is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family. Robert was born April 21, 1945 in Moline, the son of Hubert Deane and Florence Nadine Randolph Frazelle. He married Patricia Rasso in March of 1963. Robert was employed as a laborer at International Harvester. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved his birds, Mexican food, and also electronics. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all. SURVIVORS: Son, Perry L. (Sheila) Frazelle, Moline Daughter Pam Galvin, Moline Brother, Scott (Pat) Frazelle, Colona Sisters Marcia (Judd) Harris, Elkland, MO Bonnie (Robert) Adams, Port Byron Grandchildren, Nicholas and Brittany Frazelle Tatiana and Tallia Galvin Many nieces, nephews, and all his special friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hubert Deane Frazelle, III.

Elizabeth D. “Bea” Bolender, 93 of Rock Island died January 18, 2004 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association. Elizabeth Carlson was born January 19, 1910 in Moline to John S. & Augusta Peterson Carlson. She married Floyd Bolender on November 9, 1935 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1992. Elizabeth was a Stock Control Clerk in the Stock Control Branch of the Rock Island Depot Activity with over 20 years of service. Elizabeth was a member of Moline Gosepl Temple. She enjoyed attending activites at the Senior Center. She will be remembered for her cookies, pies and cakes. SURVIVORS: include 10 great nieces and nephews and many great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, sister Florence C. Hannon and a brother George Carlson.

Geraldine Lewis, 82 of East Moline formerly of Moline passed away January 16, 2004 at Rosewood Health Care Center, Moline. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes. Association or Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Geraldine was born February 9, 1921 in Moline to Kyle and Ruth Gustafson Lewis. Geraldine was employed at the Quad City Tank arsenal during WWII and the former International Harvester Company in the East Moline plant for 32 ˝ years as a secretary in the Production Standard Dept. retiring in 1974. Geraldine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of Oakwood Country Club. She was interested in all sports in active participation and viewing on TV, especially golf, bowling and college sports. SURVIVORS: include cousins, Robert and Don Gustafson of Cambridge and several other cousins and many good friends.

Thomas G. Rodgers, 34 of Davenport, IA died January 16, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2004 at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave. Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to an educational fund for his children. Thomas was born October 11, 1969 to Thomas C. and Jean Carder Rodgers. He married Amalia Portillo on June 11, 1993 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Moline. Thomas was the Director of Training & Development for Dealer Marketing Services. Thomas received his MBA from St. Ambrose University in 2000. Thomas was a group leader of BSF and was involved with Men’s Ministries at Homewood Evangelical Free Church. He organized bible studies for those affected by cancer. He enjoyed having breakfast dates with his sons once a week. He enjoyed talking with others, reading, journaling, playing tennis and chess with his sons, and golf. He wanted to be just like Jesus because Grant and Joseph wanted to be just like him. He always had a great attitude and his faith kept him positive and upbeat even during the hardest days of his courageous five year battle with cancer.
