James D. Foltz age 89 formerly of Swedona, died July 11, 2004 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Home in Prophetstown, IL. Funeral services are Thursday, July 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swedona Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Home where he resided. James was born on July 5, 1915 in Pennsylvania the son of Homer and Melinda Foltz. He married Jamesetta Mears in 1937 in Clymer, Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on June 28, 1978. He later married Dorothy Mae Borst Carlson on September 22, 1979 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 6, 1990. James farmed in the Swedona area and was also an operating engineer for Local #537 in Rock Island retiring in 1977. He was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church in Orion. He worked in Alaska during World War II as a Civil Army Engineer. He was an avid card player with the senior citizens. SURVIVORS: include his sons and their spouses James and Georgia Foltz of Prophetstown, IL and Irvin and Sharon Foltz of Rock Falls, IL; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; 3 step-children and their spouses Nancy and John Salter, John and Jackie Carlson and Roger and Mary Ellen Carlson; 6 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.

Alfred “Cork” Cervantes, 85, of Moline, died July 10, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island after a brief illness. The body was cremated and graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. The family will receive relatives and friends at Westwood Terrace, 2200-1st St. A, Moline, immediately following the service. Mr. Cervantes was born August 1, 1918 in Michigan, the son of Frank and Frances Sutton Cervantes. He married Betty Blomgren on September 23, 1955. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1973. He was employed by Flynn Beverage Company, Rock Island, retiring in 1982. He then worked as courier for the First Midwest Bank retiring at age 79. “Cork” enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, and traveling throughout the United States. He is survived by daughters Barbara (Dean) Woodyard, East Moline, Anita and Annette Dietz, Phoenix, AZ, Linda (Larry) Ontiveros, Moline, Patricia Trevor, Naples, FL, Pamela (Joe) Stablein, Rock Island; a sister Opal Smith, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Michael Fontenoy, Erie, Steven Woodyard, Davenport, Amy Ontiveros, Moline, Christopher Trevor, Moline, Michael Trevor, Arlington Heights, IL, Matthew and Jonathan James, Rock Island; a niece, Donna Kath, Phoenix, AZ; special friends Gloria Meyers, Moline, and Jim and Colleen Saunders, Milan. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, Alzheimer'’ Association, or a favorite charity. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a son Robert, and a granddaughter, Wendy.

Rosalie A. Raymond Jensen, 69, of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday July 9, 2004 at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Celebration of Life services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday July 12 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and also 1 hour prior to service time on Monday. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Rosalie was born September 11, 1934 in Moline to George and Gabriel (Houvenaghel) Raymond. She retired from Deere & Company after 25 years of service. She did volunteer work for two senior citizen groups, she served as President, Media Chair and Editor of United Township Seniors. In 2003 she was awarded Lifetime membership in the Gallery of Ageless Achievers for her volunteer contributions. SURVIVORS: Sons: James (Dawn) Jensen Martinez, CA Jerry (Lonna) Jensen, Bonne Terre, MO Tracy (Cynthia) Jensen, Silvis, IL 27 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren Step-sons, Mickey (Sandy) Meeks, Newport News, VA Victor Meeks, Davenport, IA Step-daughters, Linda (Richard) Parker, Davenport, IA Brenda Cooperman (Michael Witt) Bettendorf, IA She is also survived by her sister and brother in law Elizabeth and Raymond Caudill, Rock Island, IL Rosalie is preceded in death by her two sons Richard and Scott Jensen and also her parents. Her family was her most loving and valuable asset. Additionally, she enjoyed her home, friends, online friends, computer, Bingo, and riverboat casinos.

Harold C. Johnson, age 95, of Moline died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at his residence. Private family services are planned. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to The Niabi Zoological Society or the Quad City Animal Welfare Center. Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family. Harold was born July 25, 1908 in Moline, IL the son of Carl Emil and Therese Ellen Blomquist Johnson. He married Lorette M. Nickell on February 21, 1935. Harold was a funeral director and former partner with the Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. in Moline. He started his career in 1929 as a funeral director and retired in 1973. Harold served as President of The Illinois Funeral Director’s Association in 1956. He was a member of the Moline Rotary Club and also the Moline Viking Club. SURVIVORS: Wife Lorette Johnson, Moline, Daughter: Carol Ann (Chuck) Laws Moline, Sister: Margot Matson, Panorama City, CA Grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Menne, Minneapolis, MN Gretchen A. (James) McLaughlin Moline 4 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by a brother Elliott Johnson.

Elsie Mae Olson, age 87 of Bettendorf died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Masonic Village, Bettendorf. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 12th at First Covenant Church in Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601 – 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to her church, First Covenant Church in Moline. Elsie Mae was born June 8, 1917 in Moline, IL the daughter of Andrew and Rilla Norton Peterson. She married Chester Olson on March 3, 1944 in Moline. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2004. Elsie Mae was a member of First Covenant Church in Moline where she served as President of the Covenant Women’s Circles. She and her husband also served as youth leaders at the church, where Elsie Mae assisted as a secretary. She loved to write and wrote a monthly column for “The Masonic” for several years. SURVIVORS: Granddaughters, Deborah (David) Orr, Peoria, IL Laurel (Jeff) Gilbert, Littleton, CO Son-in-law, Harold Corson Littleton, CO 5 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Johnson, her brother Bill Peterson, daughter “Lynn” Corson, and a grandson Michael Corson.

Bonnie Hutchinson, 68, of East Moline, died Tuesday July 6, 2004 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2004 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hampton, IL. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline, with a rosary recited at 5:00 pm. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Bonnie was born on April 20, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Delmar and “Rusty” Hamner. She married Eugene Hutchinson on December 1, 1956 in Henderson, KY. Bonnie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hampton. She worked as a seamstress and later as a secretary.. She also worked part time at IEANEA in Moline. She was the head of Jr. and Sr. Boys Baseball League of East Moline. She was very involved with her kid’s and grandkid’s activities, such as sports and educational teaching. She loved to take pictures of her family and videotaped all special events, talent shows and vacations. Bonnie always made Christmas Eve dinner. She liked antiques shopping, ceramic painting and studying the Bible, following the Lord and attending church when she could. SURVIVORS: Husband, Eugene, Brother, Charles O. Hamner, Daughters: Kelly Hutchinson, Robin Brown Son, Mark Hutchinson Step-mother, Mildred “Mickey” Hamner, 7 Grand children Matt, Paul, Melissa & David Brown; Jordan Guardia; Devin Goebel;Logan Hutchinson. Eula was born on November 25, 1908 in Houston, Missouri the daughter of Ernest and Daisy Hardin Chambers. She married Alvin Aller on November 16, 1929 in Moline. He preceded her in death in 1969. She married Boyd “Bud” Schriefer, Sr. on October 5, 1974 in Moline. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2003. Eula taught in a country school in Keota, Iowa and later was employed at the former New York Store and Carlson Brothers in Moline. She was Past-President of the Moline Auxiliary of F.O.E. Aerie #1112, a 50 year member of Moline Chapter #258 O.E.S.; she was active in Plymouth Congregational Church and was presently a member of Hope United Church of Christ. She was also a lifetime member of Oakwood Country Club. SURVIVORS: include her daughter and spouse Mary Jo and David Abrahamson of Clayton, MO; her son and spouse Paul and Joyce Aller of Moline; her step-sons and spouses Ronald and Kay Schriefer of Moline and Boyd and Cathy Schriefer, Jr. of Lexington, KY; 6 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marjorie Sondag and step-daughter Rosalie Dodge.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on July 8, 2004 at First Evangelical Free Church in Moline with the Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601 – 38th Avenue, Moline on Wednesday. Private family graveside services will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to her church, First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Evelyn Ivene was born on October 31, 1916 in Davenport, IA the daughter of Earl and Ivene Roberts Tunis. She married Leroy Stoneking on August 27, 1937 in Davenport. Evelyn was employed by of Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo for 10 years, last working in 1966. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Moline since 1945 where she served as deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and also as a leader in the Children’s Church. After she and her husband retired, she ministered to a number of Health Care Homes presenting a Christian religious program. She also worked for 15 years in the AWANA program for the Geneseo Free Church. Evelyn had a compassionate heart for her grandchildren and all little children. She was a special lady not only to our family, but many many people. SURVIVORS: include her husband of 66 years, Leroy; her daughter and spouse Ivene and David Lindblade of Naperville, IL; her son and spouse Dr. Jerry and Johanna Stoneking of Seminole, FL; 5 grandchildren and spouses Kimberly and Paul Stevenson, Dr. Bradley and Katharine Stoneking, Jeffery Lindblade, Dr. Christopher and Rebecca Lindblade and Stefanie Stoneking; 5 great-grandchildren – Caleb Stevenson, Nathanael Stevenson, Isabelle Lindblade, Benjamin Stoneking, and William Stoneking.

She married Vijayan Kallattil on January 22, 1995. SURVIVORS: include her husband Vijayan and her daughter Divia and her son Vaishakh.

Cal P. Zeiser age 88 of Moline died July 2, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 5th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, IL. at a later date. A memorial fund has been established by the family Cal was born on August 17, 1915 in Chicago, IL the son of Anthony and Janette Jesse Zeiser. He married Judy Nelson on November 26, 1976 in Moline. Cal was employed as a sales executive and terminal manager for Western Transportation and Holland Motor, last working in 1987. After retirement, he worked for Sears retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Quad City Transportation Club, the Masonic Lodge in Chicago and the Mill Creek Country Club. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. SURVIVORS: include his wife Judy, son and spouse Gary and Wanda of Chicago, James “Jim” of Aledo and Steven of Memphis, TN. and extended family Greg, Delma, Kyrom and Kirk Kooken of Flower Mound, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Nancy Zeiser.
