Donald C. Johnson, 86 of Moline died April 9, 2004 at River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.
Donald was born July 11, 1917 in Moline to Carl H.E. and Julia E. (Johnson) Johnson.
He married Mary J. Romeo on October 26, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
She preceded him in death on April 4, 1981.
Donald was a switch inspector at Eagle Signal, Davenport retiring in 1982.
Donald was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Island.
He was a member of the Olive Male Chorus.
There are no immediate survivors.

Visitation: 3-5 p.m. April 11, 2004 at at the funeral home
Graveside Service: 9 a.m. April 12, 2004 at Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville, IL
Norma M. Maynard, 81 of Moline, IL, died April 8, 2004 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island, where she had been moved on April 7, 2004.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 11, 2004 from 3-5 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline, followed by a Remembrance Program at 5 p.m.
Interment will be 9 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2004 at Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville, IL.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Pilot Club of Moline-Service Programs.
Norma was born October 15, 1922 in Mercer County, IL.
She was a teacher for 47 years: first in Morrison, IL; then at Garfield School in Moline for 12 years; and at Black Hawk College for 31 years finishing her employment there in 1992.
She taught biology, health, and physical education.
Her BS Degree was from Western Illinois University and her MS Degree was from Washington University, St. Louis.
Additional graduate study was done at these two universities and at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
Norma loved to SKI, read, raise Bearded Iris and be with friends.
She was active in the Pilot Club of Moline and was a volunteer for Friends of Moline Public Library.
She helped with Quad City Senior Olympics for the first six years of their existence.
She was an active member and secretary of her women’s investment club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norman L. and Lillian Link Maynard, and by two sisters Rosalie M. Mehall and Donna M. Qualls.
Surviving her are two nieces – Rosalyn Boldt- Springboro, OH and Virginia Bennett (husband Robert) Cordova, IL; two nephews- Ronald D. Lee (wife Terry) Rock Island, IL and Larry Lee Overland Park, KS; and by long time colleague and companion Frances Leimkuehler, Moline, IL.
There are also three great nieces, seven great nephews, one great-great niece, and seven great-great nephews.
Norma brought JOY to LIFE.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m. April 12, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline
Mary Ann Domyancich, 83 of Moline died April 8, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m.with a rosary recited at 4:30 on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline or to a favorite charity.
Mary Ann was born August 5, 1920 in Cincinnati, Iowa to Peter and Antonia Mitchell.
She married John Domyancich on February 12, 1940 in Centerville, IA.
He preceded her in death on February 20, 2001.
Mary Ann worked for the Croatian Crest Club, Moline.
Mary Ann was a member of St.Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She also belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers Union Retirees and the Croatian Crest Club.

Blanche G. Castle 91, formerly of Moline died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Forest Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., Moline.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Blanche was born April 4, 1913 in Moline, IL. the daughter of Ora Earl and Ida Gregg.
She married Warren Castle on April 4, 1939 in Davenport, IA.
He preceded her in death in December 19, 1977.
Blanche was employed at the Moline News Agency.
She later worked at the Interstate Bookstore on 5th Avenue and continued to work there when the store moved to 23rd Avenue in Moline.
Blanche was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, formerly First Methodist Church in Moline.
She enjoyed playing the piano and purchased a home organ which she also enjoyed playing.
She took continuing education classes at Black Hawk College in silversmithing and stained glass.
SURVIVORS: Son, Warren G. Castle, Concord, NC., Nieces, Jill Asbury, Bettendorf, IA. Kaye Coghlin, Sunrise, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Merle Asbury and Lottie Trumpp.

Thornbloom, Dolores V.
April 23, 1925 - April 03, 2004
Moline, IL
Dolores V. Thornbloom, age 78, died April 3, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6th with the Rev. Jerry Pilon officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis.
Dolores was born on April 23, 1925 in Humbult, Kansas, the daughter of Isaac and “Bessy” Elizabeth Veteto Colglazier.
She married Louis Thornbloom on June 15, 1971 in Rock Island.
He preceded her in death in December, 2003.
Dolores was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline.
She enjoyed needlework, sewing, and dancing.
She also loved dogs.
SURVIVORS: include her children and spouses; Sharon (David) Hall, Elizabeth “Betty” Just, Robert (Mary) DeShane, Randall (Jackie) Thornbloom, and Cheryl (Bob) Willits; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

Brown, Edward

Moline, IL
Edward A. Brown, 55, of Moline passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7th at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601 – 38th Avenue, Moline, with Chaplain Rev. Dr. Robert Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic Service at 8:30 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, conducted by Doric Lodge #319 A.F. & A.M.
Memorials may be made to Ed’s family.
Ed was born August 3, 1948 in Moline, the son of Les Brown and Donna Schropp.
He worked at Eagle Warehouse in Milan from 1968 to 1978 as a mechanic, and belonged to the Teamsters Union Local 371.
Ed proudly served as a Moline Police Officer for 20 years from July 1978 to August 1998.
He served as President of the Moline Police Benevolent Association.
He retired from the Moline Police Department in August 1998.
Ed was a Master Mason, Doric Lodge #319 A.F. & A.M. in Silvis.
He was a Christian who enjoyed working in his garden, cooking, watching NASCAR races and was a die hard Cub fan.
SURVIVORS: include a son, Edward Jr., Grand View, Michigan; two grandchildren, Megan and Ian, Grand View, Michigan; his mother Donna Schropp, Ava, Missouri; grandmother, Velma Chappell, Ava, Missouri; two sisters, Marge Preston, Rock Island and Kay Jewell, Thorntown, Indiana; a half-brother, Dave Brown, Moline; two half-sisters, Melissa King, Petersburg, Illinois and Claudia Brawner, Stanford, Illinois; two step-brothers, Chuck Hill, Moline and Ron Hill, Conway, Arkansas, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Les Brown and step-mother, Molly Brown.

Zentz, Eleanor P.

Eleanor P. Zentz, 73 of Milan died April 1, 2004 at Community Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.
Funeral services will be 11 am. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Swedona Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion.
Burial will be at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Eleanor Zentz family.
Eleanor was born August 8, 1930 in Fairbury, NE to L.T. and Martha Henrika Eleanora Janssen Bennett.
She married Charles Anderson in 1949.
She later married Roy Zentz in August of 1969 in Moline.
Eleanor worked in the clerical department for the former Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island and for St. Anthony’s Continuing Care Center, Rock Island.
Eleanor was an avid learner of midwestern history especially events that occurred around Nebraska.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards.
She really loved her children and took great joy in her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
SURVIVORS: Daughters: Diana (Mike) Nation Orion, IL Cindy (Keith) Dickerson, Youngstown, IL Rhonda (Shon) Letterman, East Moline, IL Sons: Tom (Vickie) Anderson Muscatine, IA Curt (Lisa) Anderson, Galesburg, IL; 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; Brother, Curtis Bennett Fairbury, NE
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bruce William Anderson and sister-in-law Sharon Bennett.
