Russell Thinnes of Huntley
Visitation for Russell Thinnes, 78, formerly of Chicago, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley. Funeral serviceswill be private.
Born Feb. 23, 1920, in Detroit, Mich., to William and Edith (nee Hart) Thinnes, he died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Interment will be private.
Mr. Thinnes married Lorraine Gaertner on July 21, 1939, in Valparaiso, Ind., and the couple resided in Chicago before moving to Huntley 18 years ago.
He had worked in the painting and decorating business for more than 50 years in the Chicago area. In addition, Mr. Thinnes wasan Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart in February 1945 on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Linda (Ted) Landers of Huntley; granddaughter, Lorraine (Anthony) Scotti; and brothers, Everett Thinnes of Chicago and Robert Thinnes of Wauconda.
He was preceded in death by hisparents; and brothers, Roy, Richard, Eugene, Ralph and Jimmy.

Evelyn R. Uhrik of Palatine
Prayers for Evelyn R. Uhrik (nee Lezon), 73, will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Colette Church, 3900 Meadow Dr., Rolling Meadows.
Born Sept. 30, 1925, in Chicago, she died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at her home. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum.
A homemaker, she was the wife of the late John F.; sister of Doris (Spencer) Vardeman and the late Gene Lezon; aunt of Stephen (Sheila) Flood, Barbara Hart, Deborah (Gary) Ingraham, Joseph (Linda) Flood, John Flood, Terrence (Margo) Kersjes, Nancy Kersjes and Thomas (Jane) Kersjes; and aunt of numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Helen M. Vanderspool formerly of Grayslake
Services for Helen M. Vanderspool, 86, of Farmer City, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake.
Born July 19, 1912, in Harris, Ill., she passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at the Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton, Ill. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Libertyville.
Helen was a former employee of Admiral Corporation in McHenry, Brown Paper Bag Company in Libertyville and the Heppner Manufacturing Company in Round Lake.
She leaves her children, Leroy H. Vanderspool of Farmer City, Barb Vanderspool of Farmer City and Margaret Barrett of Tellico Plains, Tenn.; grandchildren, Marsha Reem, Brenda Todd, Joe Gerali, Robert Gerali, Anthony Gerali, Michael Gerali, Denna Vanderspool, Lena, Shelly Vanderspool and Leroy Vanderspool; and sisters, Margaret Miller of Prudenville, Mich., and Betty Iles of Saginaw, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert `Doc' Vanderspool; three brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral chapel.

Frank A. Aikus of North Chicago
A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank A. Aikus, 90, a lifelong resident of North Chicago, will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Holy Family West Church (St. Bartholomew Church).
Born July 10, 1908, in North Chicago, he died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at home. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
He retired in 1969, from US Steel Corporation after 43 years of service. He was a member of HolyFamily West Church and a former member of St. Bartholomew Church, past president of St. Anthony, St. Joseph and St. Bartholomew Socialites and Lithuanian Hall, 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council #731, member of Foss Park Senior Citizens Club and US Steel Retirees Club, director of Waukegan Savings and Loan Associationand served as chairman of the planning commission of the City of North Chicago.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Antoinette (nee Urman); loving daughter, Loretta (Thomas) Hebior of North Chicago; loving granddaughters, Donna (Eric) Buschick of Gurnee, Jacqueline Hebior and Diane Hebior both of North Chicago; great-granddaughters, Danielle, Loren and Erica Buschick; and sisters, Ann Wells of Glendale, Ariz. and Mary (Max) Brewer of North Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Aikus; brothers, Stanley and Joseph; and sister, Bernice Zupan.

Helen S. Casaletto of Bloomingdale
Funeral services for Helen S. Casaletto (nee Stermer) will begin at 9 a. m Monday, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Bloomingdale, and continue to St. Walter Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph P. Casaletto; devoted mother of Thomas (Kathy) and Nancy (the late Thomas) Burns; dear sister of Edward (Olga), George (Ann) Stermer, and the late Clara Wlodarski, Mag Kroll, Irene Noti, Jeannette Sessa, and William and Frank Stermer; and fond grandmother of five.

Jean A. Deering of Mount Prospect
Mass for Jean A. Deering (nee Van Patten), 78, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect.
Born May 14, 1920, in Chicago, she died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mrs. Deering was a retired secretary for a railroad.
She was the beloved wife of the late John, a retired Chicago police officer; loving mother of Kathleen (Robert) Kalish and Mary Ellen (Donald) Cameron; dear sister of the late Charles (Irene) Van Patten, the late Mary Egan Millar and the late Ellen Hannon; dearest grandmother of Kent, Kevin and Erin; fond sister-in-law of Mabel Kernan; and dear aunt and caring friend of many.
Jean will be remembered for her caring ways, her independent spirit and her keen sense of humor.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights.

Bess H. Fulford of Palatine
Services for Bess H. Fulford (nee Hegg), 85, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at First United Methodist Church of Palatine, 123 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine.
Born June 22, 1913, in Taylor, Wis., she died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Bethany Terrace Nursing Center, Morton Grove. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Fulford had been a resident of Palatine since 1954. She had been employed by Dramatic Publishing Company of Chicago from 1935 to 1950, and in 1956 she became the secretary of the First United Methodist Church of Palatine, where she worked until her retirement in 1973. Mrs. Fulford was also a member of First United Methodist Church for 44 years, during which time she was very involved with many different ministries of the church. In addition, she was a member of the PEO and the Palanois Park Garden Club.
Survivors include her son, Douglas S. (Donna) Fulford of Palatine; and grandchildren, Kristin L. Fulford and Jason S. Fulford, both of Palatine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fulford; brothers, William, Harlan and Merlin Hegg; and sister, Myrtle Keller.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.

Judith A. `Judy' Grauman of Wonder Lake
A funeral Mass for Judith A. `Judy' Grauman, 57, will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake.
Born Oct. 31, 1941, in Evanston, to Rudolph and Blanche (nee Wolfe) Schuler, she died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Manor Care in Elgin. Inurnment will be in Christ the King Cemetery.
Mrs. Grauman was raised and educated in Woodstock, where she attended St. Mary Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary High School in 1959. She entered St. Therese School of Nursing in Waukegan in 1959, and graduated in 1962. For 25 years she worked as a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County (now Memorial Medical Center), and for the last 10 years she was employed by the pharmacy at Wal-Mart in McHenry.
Mrs. Grauman was a member of Christ the King Church in Wonder Lake. Formerly she was active in the Girl Scouts of America, where she served as a leader.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Roger H. Grauman, whom she married Sept. 15, 1962; daughters, Sherri Grauman of Crystal Lake, Lorri (Christopher) Gramer of Lake in the Hills and Karri Grauman of Lake in the Hills; grandchildren, Robert Grauman and Brandon Gramer; sister, Karen (Don) Froelich of Palatine; and brothers, Paul (Maureen) Schuler of Roscoe and David (Gail) Schuler of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may visit with the family from 6:30 p.m. until the time of Mass at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to a medical research charity in Judy's name.

LeRoy W. Gudgeon of Prospect Heights
Prayers for LeRoy W. Gudgeon, 76, will be said at 9:15 a.m. Monday, at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mount Prospect.
Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd., Prospect Heights.
Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Chicago, he entered eternal life on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.
Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
He was a graduate of Loyola University and Law School and Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and was assigned an ensign on troopships during World War II. Mr. Gudgeon was an attorney as a sole practitioner for 43 years. He provided legal counsel for the produce trade as well as for numerous police and fire commissions throughout Illinois. He established the legal foundation for The Greater Chicago Food Depository and was their attorney until his retirement. He had been assistant corporation counsel for the Village of Skokie.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia Gudgeon (nee Quinlan); children, John Gudgeon, Neil (Gail) Gudgeon, Susan (Thomas) Reilly and Valerie Gudgeon; sisters, Carole Deatrick and Sister Marie Majella O. P.; and grandchildren, Katie, Nicholas, Kelly, Kyle, Andrew andTammy.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Weidenfeller.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Erna L. Hagenson (nee Jonsson), 95, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 675 Algonquin Road, Des Plaines.
Born March 15, 1903, inHorsens, Denmark, she died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Oakton Pavillion, Des Plaines.

A homemaker, she was the beloved wife of the late Harold A. Hagenson; loving mother of Harold (Jean) Hagenson of Palatine and the late Phyllis Alsedek; dear mother-in-law of Al (Connie) Alsedek; cherished sister of Warren (the late Helen) Jonsson and the late Hans (the late Marie) Jonsson and Ellen (the late John) Elroy; devoted grandmother of four; and great-grandmother of three.
