Kenneth Paul Robinson
HERRIN -- Kenneth Paul Robinson, 71, died at 12:09 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Herrin Hospital. There will be no services. The body was donated to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Robinson retired from the housekeeping department at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, where he had worked for 20 years. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines. He was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Colp to Kenneth and Lillian Evelyn (Carter) Robinson. He married Irene Worthen on April 17, 1970. She survives. Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry Paul Robinson, Kenneth Lee and Dianne Robinson, and Loyd Randy and Ursula Robinson, all of Tacoma, Wash.; his mother and stepfather, Lillian and James Lester of Tacoma; one stepdaughter and husband, Helen and Sam DeNeal of Harrisburg; two stepsons, Guy Riley and wife, Norma, of Yakima, Wash., and Rodger Riley of Marion; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren. His father and one brother, Larry Robinson, preceded him in death.

Makenzie Nottingham
MOUNT VERNON -- Makenzie Rayann Nottingham, 22-month-old daughter of Miranda Bozart of Mount Vernon and Nathan Nottingham of Campbell, Mo., died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in St. Louis Children's Hospital. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. David Mays officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Rankin Jordan Rehabilitation Center in Creve Coeur, Mo. York Funeral Home in Wayne City is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence V. Lipe
CHESTER -- Lawrence V. Lipe, 91, died at 4:06 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Lipe Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the cemetery. Mr. Lipe was principal at Chester grade school for 22 years. He retired from Menard Correctional Center as superintendent of education, and after retirement he volunteered at Menard. He was a member of the Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a member of Methodist Men, former president of the Methodist Church board and taught Sunday school. He was a Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduate and charter member of the Council 100 Club at SIUC. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, an RSVP volunteer and volunteer for the Salvation Army, March of Dimes and Southern Illinois Crippled Children. He was born June 8, 1910, in Carbondale to Jonathan and Victoria (Grammer) Lipe. He married Berniece Fore on April 4, 1936, in Cairo. She survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Verdon and Jeannie Lipe of Downingtown, Pa., and Larry and Diana Lipe of Herrin; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jerry Titus of Lake Oswego, Ore.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Grace Yarbrough
ANNA -- Grace Yarbrough, 79, formerly of Vienna, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. She was born on March 1, 1922, in Belleville. She was the daughter of Anthony Zika Sr. and Anna (Siroky) Zika. Grace was united in marriage to Jess Yarbrough on July 7,1950, in Lebanon, Mo. He survives. Other survivors include one sister-in-law, Dorothy Zika of Belleville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Zika Jr., George Zika Sr. and Emil Zika; two sisters, Marian Wagner and Viola Zika; five sisters-in-law, Catherine Zika, Patricia Yarbrough, Gladys Stoll, Mary Erk and Katherine Zika; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Yarbrough and Afton Wagner. Grace was a member of the Westview Baptist Church and the former 17th Street Baptist Church in Belleville for over 50 years. She later became a member of First Baptist Church. Grace graduated from Belleville West High School and then attended and graduated from Summers College in East St. Louis. Grace served as a WAAC during World War II with the Air Force at Drew Field in Tampa, Fla., attaining the rank of staff sergeant. She was later employed as an assistant military personnel officer at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where she retired after 25 years of service. Grace was a member of Chapter 1019, NARFE in Belleville, the Class of Faith Sunday School Class at Vienna First Baptist Church and the Ponds Ladies Club in Vienna. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Belleville, with Dr. Larry Orange officiating. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Belleville. Local visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Belleville. The family has requested that flowers be omitted, and in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a church of the donor's choosing.

James Roderick
MOUNT VERNON -- James E. Roderick, 89, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Alan Rhein and the Rev. David Roderick officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lions Club Eye Bank, National Kidney Foundation of Eastern Missouri or the American Cancer Society. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dana Schram
BENTON -- Dana Schram, 73, of Mount Juliet, Tenn., formerly of Benton, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at the Mount Juliet Healthcare Center. She was born in West Frankfort, Ill., on Oct. 26, 1920, the daughter of Wilbur and Maude (Dimmick) Wilson. Dana was a retired nurse. She was married to Walter Lee Schram. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1992. She is survived by one son, Scott Schram and his wife, Susan, of Ellis Grove, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jason Schram, Christopher Schram and Dana "Katie" Coons; three step-grandchildren, Stephen Gordon, Jared Gordon and Stephanie Pim; two great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Wilson of Woodriver, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with burial in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 11 a.m. and until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Eugene Litton
JOHNSTON CITY -- Eugene Litton, 78, died at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Marion Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lakeview Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Edwards officiating. There will be no visitation. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Litton was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Johnston City to Clate and Bertie (Swift) Litton. He married Ruth Ramsey on July 2, 1943, in Morganfield, Ky. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ron and Jason Litton, both of Johnston City, and Jerry Litton of Rosiclare; one grandson, Jerry Litton; one granddaughter, Billy Jo Litton; and one brother, Wilce Litton of Herrin. His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Lovidia 'Biggin' Lawrence
WEST FRANKFORT -- Lovidia "Biggin" Lawrence, 81, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Union Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Baskin officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Lawrence was retired from the state hospital in Dixon. She married Robert Lawrence. He preceded her in death. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Doris Lawrence of Marion; one granddaughter and her husband, Debbie and Ray Collins of Texas; four great-grandchildren, Christie, Ray, Donneelle and Candice Collins; and two sisters, Carolyn Benner of West Frankfort and Marlene Neal of Washington. Her parents, three brothers, John, Carl and Hershel Miles, and one sister, Carlene Burke, also preceded her in death.

Helen Browning
CHRISTOPHER -- Helen Browning, 86, died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Gilbert Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dean Guyman officiating. Burial will be in Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Browning was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church in Mulkeytown and Order of the Eastern Star. She was born March 10, 1915, in Mulkeytown to Walter and Elfie (Furlow) Copeland. She married Paul Browning on Oct. 1, 1957. He died Jan. 17, 1979. Survivors include three sons, Norman Jackson of Mulkeytown, Harvey Jackson of Christopher and Larry Jackson of Reno, Nev.; two stepdaughters, Betty Baker of Marion and Shirley Riley of Mount Vernon; a special friend, Mary Ann Payne; eight granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby King of Christopher. Her parents, six brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.

Joe Tonso
HERRIN -- Joe Tonso, 95, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Tonso was born June 25, 1906, in Montalenghe, Italy to Mick and Frances (Tonso) Tonso. He married Eva Martoglio on June 20,1932 in Marion. She survives. He began work at the Ly Mar Hotel in Herrin in 1923, and was a manager at the Ly Mar from 1925 until the hotel closed in 1963. He then worked at Norge Company in Herrin until his retirement. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Eva Tonso of Herrin, and son and daughter in law, Bill and Beverley Tonso of Evansville, Ind. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home. The family will give the eulogy. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Herrin City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home. Ethel Keller
METROPOLIS -- Ethel Anna Keller, 92, formerly of Metropolis, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in the Medical Center of Mesquite, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Metropolis Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Louis Wayne Brinker officiating. There will be no visitation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Keller, and one daughter, Georgia Ann Wieman.

Lowell Dunn
MARION -- Lowell Dunn, 79, died at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Paradise Manor. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating. Burial will in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sharon Reynolds
CARRIER MILLS -- Sharon Ruth Reynolds, 56, died at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Harrisburg Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Joe Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Julio Obertini
DU QUOIN -- Julio Obertini, 86, died at 6:04 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Neal-McClure Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Rosemary Green
CHESTER -- Rosemary Green, 85, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Three Springs Lodge. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, with Martin Springer officiating, Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

Eva Wiley
CARRIER MILLS -- Eva M. Wiley, 87, formerly of Carrier Mills, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Pontiac, Mich. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Salem Cemetery, with the Rev. Edward Darnell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Felty Funeral Home.

Patricia Redcloud
ELCO -- Patricia Redcloud, 57, died at 11:37 a.m. Thurday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Union County Hospital in Anna. Arrangements are incomplete at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin.
