Frank Tripp
ANNA -- William Frank Tripp, 89, of Anna died at 6:18 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born on June 19, 1912, in Anna, the son of Dugan and Agnes Highland Tripp. He was married to Eva Leona Fox on Feb. 21, 1931, in Union County. She preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 1995. Frank is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Una Tripp of Anna: two sisters, Mary Keith of Anna, Louise Rich of Cobden; one brother, Glenn Tripp of Cobden; a sister-in-law, Mary Tripp of Anna; three grandchildren, Debbie and husband, Terry Strunk, of Anna; Von Tripp and wife Glenna, and J. D. Tripp and wife, Gwen, all of Anna; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Taylor, Alyssa and Jaryt Tripp, other, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leona, one brother, Charles Tripp, and two sisters, Catherine Dillow and Betty Taylor. Frank was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and retired from the Manteno State Hospital of 23 years and a retired farmer of 50 years. Funeral services for Mr., William Frank Tripp will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman and Rev. P. L. Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall cemetery near Lick Creek. Friends may call at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Eugene Litton
JOHNSTON CITY -- Eugene Litton, 78, died at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Marion Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lakeview Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Edwards officiating. There will be no visitation. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Litton was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Johnston City to Clate and Bertie (Swift) Litton. He married Ruth Ramsey on July 2, 1943, in Morganfield, Ky. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Ron and Jason Litton, both of Johnston City, and Jerry Litton of Rosiclare; one grandson, Jerry Litton; one granddaughter, Billy Jo Litton; and one brother, Wilce Litton of Herrin. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Floyd E. Pogue
STEELEVILLE -- Floyd E. Pogue, 77, died at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Memorial Hospital in Chester. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with the Rev. Pete Ruble officiating, and at 2 p.m. in Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont, Mo. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Mr. Pogue was retired from Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a Protestant. He was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., to Alfred E. and Dulcie Rea (Brewster) Pogue. He married Lucy S. Grigery on June 5, 1947, in Pocahontas, Ark. She died Jan. 20, 2000. Survivors include two sons, Thomas F. Pogue of Cadiz, Ky., and William A. Pogue of Kenton, Ohio; two daughters, Bobbie J. Adams of Steeleville and Sharon P. Miller of Hillsboro, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Pogue of Cuba, Mo., and Norman R. Pogue of Texas. His parents, three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Alex James Hunsaker
CARTERVILLE -- Alex James Hunsaker, infant son of James "Jim" and Amy Jackman Hunsaker, died on Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville, with the Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Alex is survived by his parents, Jim and Amy of Carterville; maternal grandparents, Jon and Jan Jackman of Cambria; paternal grandparents Glenn Butch and Renae Hunsaker of Carterville; paternal great-grandparents Leonard and Beulah Welch of Cambria; paternal grandmother Irene "Chatty" Hunsaker of Hurst; two aunts Cassie and Jeff Stearns of Carterville and Jessica and Darren Skelcher of Cambria; two uncles Brent and Mindy Hunsaker of Carterville and Brian and Kim Hunsaker of Carterville; five cousins, Kelsie Stearns, Courtney Hunsaker, Travis Hunsaker, Bryson Hunsaker, and Brooklyn Hunsaker. His maternal great grandparents and his paternal great grandfather preceded him in death. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's O. B. Unit or Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Alex was briefly on this earth until the 31st of December 2001; then gone from us to soon.

Grace Yarbrough
ANNA -- Grace Yarbrough, 79, of Anna, and formerly of Vienna died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday evening, Jan. 1, 2002, in the Illinois Veterans Care Center in Anna. She was born on March 1, 1922, in Belleville. She was the daughter of Anthony Zika Sr. and Anna (Siroky) Zika. Grace was united in marriage to Jon Yarbrough on July 7,1950, in Lebanon, Mo. He survives. Other survivors include one sister-in-law, Dorothy Zika of Belleville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony Zika Jr., George Zika Sr. and Emil Zika; two sisters, Marian Wagner and Viola Zika; five sisters-in-law, Catherine Zika, Patricia Yarbrough, Gladys Stoll, Mary Erk and Katherine Zika; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Yarbrough and Afton Wagner. Grace was a member of the Westview Baptist Church and the former 17th Street Baptist Church in Belleville for over 50 years. She later became a member of First Baptist Church. Grace graduated from Belleville West High School and then attended and graduated from Summers College in East St. Louis. Grace served as a WAAC during World War II with the Air Force at Drew Field in Tampa, Fla., attaining the rank of staff sergeant. She was later employed as an assistant military personnel officer at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where she retired after 25 years of service. Grace was a member of Chapter 1019, NARFE in Belleville, the Class of Faith Sunday School Class at Vienna First Baptist Church and the Ponds Ladies Club in Vienna. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Belleville, with Dr. Larry Orange officiating. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Belleville. Local visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Belleville. The family has requested that flowers be omitted, and in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a church of the donor's choosing.

Joe Craddock
BENTON -- Joe Craddock, age 74, of Benton died at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Franklin Skilled Care in Benton. He was born on June 2, 1927 in Hamilton County the son of Osias and Blanche (Garner) Craddock. He married to Judy Moor. She survives. Mr. Craddock was retired as business manager of the IBEW Local No. 702. He was a Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 280 in Benton. Mr. Craddock is survived by his wife, Judy Craddock of Benton; his son, Mark Craddock of Benton; and two sisters, Ruby Kasper of Benton and Mary Buntin of Akin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Burton Wills officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, 414 13th St., Suite 700, Oakland, CA 94512-2603.

Roy Carney
BENTON -- Roy J. Carney, 85, died at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, in Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, with burial in Franklin Cemetery in Whittington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Lovidia Lawrence
MARION -- Lovidia Lawrence, 81, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Kameron Allison
CARBONDALE -- Kameron Leander Allison, 17, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Arrangements are incomplete at Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale.

Juanita Nixon
MURPHYSBORO -- Juanita Howard Nixon, 69, died at 2:08 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale.

Carol Stevenson
OKAWVILLE -- Carol J. Stevenson, 71, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in Memorial Hospital in Belleville. The body will be cremated. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home in Nashville, with the Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Evelyn Applegate
MURPHYSBORO -- Evelyn Matheny Applegate, 78, died at 4:44 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Pinker officiating. Burial will be in Lipe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Marguerite Ward
MOUNDS -- Marguerite B. Ward, 83, formerly of Mounds, died at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Dyersburg Methodist Hospital in Dyersburg, Tenn. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, with the Rev. Nell Bierman officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lawrence Lipe
CHESTER -- Lawrence V. Lipe, 91, died at 4:06 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, in Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Lipe Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Joe Tonso
HERRIN -- Joe Tonso, 95, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. The family will give the eulogy. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Helen Rundles
CAIRO -- Helen E. Stoehr Rundles, 67, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at home. Services will be private. Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Opal Etherton
DU QUOIN -- Opal Etherton, 81, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, in Magnolia Manor in Metropolis. Services for the family will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Neal-McClure Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Hallidayboro Cemetery.
