Clyde Henderson
ANNA -- Clyde Henderson, 83, died at 7:52 a.m. Sunday July 20, 2003, in Union County Hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Anna, the son of Millard and Rosa (Miller)Henderson. He married Lillian Porterfield on June 8, 1940, and she survives. Mr. Henderson worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Union County Highway Department. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318. He is survived by his wife Lillian of Anna; two daughters, Sue Blevins and Peggy Hileman both of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Shanna Pender, Shane Hileman, and Willard Blevins; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Hargrove of Tamms; nieces; nephews; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Gene Hart officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

David Phelps
JACOB -- David A. Phelps, 41, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, at his parents' residence near Jacob. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Glenn Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born on Feb. 13, 1962, in North Little Rock, Ark., to Arthur Phelps and La Don (Thurman) Phelps. He had worked as an electric motor winder on commercial motors. David was a member of the United Pentecostal faith. He married Mary Derossett on Oct. 22, 1983, in Grimsby and she survives in Benton, Ky. Other survivors include his parents; one daughter, Mindy Beth Phelps of Benton, Ky.; one brother, Roger Phelps of Farmington, Mo.; three nieces, two nephews; and four great-nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Kay Hooker; and his grandparents.

Lloyd Hinkle
ANNA -- Lloyd Hinkle, 68, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, in Union County Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Crain Funeral Home.

Everett Isaacs
THOMPSONVILLE -- Everett Isaacs, 86, died at 12:47 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, in his home. Mr. Isaacs was born June 22, 1917, in Thompsonville to John Lewis and Julie Ann (Carter) Isaacs. He married Maude Melinda McClintock and she preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1986. He was a farmer. Survivors include six sons, Benie, Everett L, Aden, Freddie, Justin and Kenny Isaacs, all of Thompsonville; four daughters, Rosie Gaither, Ruby Arview, Rhonda Murphy and Patricia Bowers, all of Thomsponville; 15 grandchildren; more than 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, eight sisters, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, with the Rev. David Schlag officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in West End. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Nola Stefan
JOHNSTON CITY -- Nola Stefan, 88, of Johnston City, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Parkway Manor in Marion. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday July 22, 2003, at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Joey Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today July 22, 2003, at the funeral home. Nola was born on Oct. 17, 1914, in Johnston City, the daughter of Lewis and Ethel (Marks) Williams. She married Steve Stefan on July 1, 1938, in Henderson, Ky. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1972. Nola was a homemaker and worked at the Johnston City City Hall. She is survived by one brother, Harold Williams of Herrin; one sister, Helen Nesler of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ivan Eugene Williams and Harlie Williams; and one sister, Trecile Harnagel.

Ezra Leo Vineyard
MARION -- Ezra Leo Vineyard passed away at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel in Joliet. His wishes were to be cremated. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Ashway of Joliet; a daughter, Kristina Vineyard of Marion; a son, Jerry Vineyard of Marion; five grandchildren, Josh Faulkner of Marion, Bre Faulkner of Marion, Amber Hughes of Marion, Zachary Vineyard of Marion and Ashton Vineyard of St. Louis; four brothers; and three sisters. He is preceded in death by his father, Ezra Vineyard; one son, Darrell Thomas Vineyard; his wife, Linda Vineyard; three brothers; and one sister. Rick Roe
SHAWNEETOWN -- Rick Roe, 42, of St. Louis, formerly of Shawneetown and Equality, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003. He was born Jan. 27, 1961, in Harrisburg to the late Louis Vancleve and Elsie Lucille (Tite) Roe. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Wally Brummett of Shawneetown; a niece, Misty Howton of Shawneetown; and several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vickery Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Conley officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the High Ground Gospel Group for their ministry.

Hazel Wilson
DU QUOIN -- Hazel Wilson, 90, of New Athens Home for the Aged, formerly of Du Quoin, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gospel Assembly Church, with the Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Tilden Cemetery in Tilden. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neal-McClure Funeral Home, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to New Athens Home for the Aged or to the donor's choice.

Stanley F. Wesolak
SCHELLER -- Stanley F. Wesolak, 89, died at 2:37 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois, with Father Daniel Jurek officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois. Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Church Renovation Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Howard Stewart
TILDEN -- Howard C. Stewart, 87, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church in Coulterville, with the Rev. Dennis R. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Coulterville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Sparta, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Grandcote Reformed Presbyterian Church.

MOUNT VERNON -- A. Marie Bean, 93, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hughey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Troy Warner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or First Baptist Church.

Charles Hiltibidal
MCLEANSBORO -- Charles E. "Babe" Hiltibidal, 85, died at 6:58 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, in Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Harre Funeral Home, with Dr. Ron Reynolds and Dr. Charles Hiltibidal officiating. Burial will be in Mary's Chapel Cemetery, with military rites by McLeansboro VFW Post 1671. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Terrill Holland
HERRIN -- Terrill Holland, 18, died Monday, July 21, 2003, as the result of a car accident. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Norman officiating. Burial will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

HERRIN -- Dillon Matthew Starnes, 20 died at 12:20 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, in Herrin. Arrangements are incomplete at Van Natta Funeral Home.

Vinnie Grace Lamping
CARTERVILLE -- Vinnie Grace Lamping, age 99, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., formerly of Carterville, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at her home in Deerfield Beach. Services will be held at 11 a. m., Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carterville, with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Barham Cemetery in Marion. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville. A rosary will be said at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Grace was born on Nov. 28, 1903, in Williamson County, to John William and Olive McDonald Fleming and was raised by her step-mother, Ora Skaggs Fleming. She married William James Lamping on Dec. 27, 1950, he passed away in December of 1968. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Fleming of Carterville; six nieces, Mary Elizabeth Michaels of Vandalia, Pat Davis and Martha Panky both of St. Elmo, Ann Durham of Moorestown, N. J., Carolyn Ellis of Homewood, and Colleen Bogard of Carterville; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Judd, Lester, and Walter Fleming; two sisters, Mary Lou Fleming and Lyla Lannom; two infant brothers; step-son, Jay Lamping; step-daughter, Carol Schulte; and one granddaughter. She graduated from Marion High School in 1922. After graduation from Brown's Business College, Marion, in 1923, she worked for various government agencies in Washington, D. C., for 25 years. She began as a stenographer in the War Department, advanced to become a confidential investigation stenographer for the Honorable Kent Keller, and later moved to the Department of Agriculture. In 1941, she began working with the Labor Relations Department, where she served first on the Senate and then the House Small Business Committee. She ended her government service with a short stint as the Chief Administrative Service in the War Department, where she had originally began her Washington, D. C., career. It was during her work with the House Small Business Committee that she came into contact with the President of Master Photo Dealers and Finishers Association and was offered the position of Assistant to the Executive Manager of MPDFA, but would have to move to Jackson, Mich. She ultimately accepted that position in the late fall of 1947, and received much acclaim for her work nationwide with MPDFA. While working in Jackson a good friend introduced her to widower William James Lamping of Detroit, Mich., whom she later married. Mrs. Lamping was an avid golfer and was active in the Women's division of the Union Printcraft International Golf Association in Washington, D. C. She was president of that association from 1938 to 1945, Chairman of the Women's Golf Committee at Prince George Maryland Golf and Country Club, and five-time Women's champion. She, with her husband, was an active member and player at the Detroit Golf and Country Club and Deercreek Country Club in Deerfield Beach, Fla., winning many trophies. She also enjoyed boating in Florida. She was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach, Fla. Memorial contributions can be made to Vitas Hospice, 5420 N.
