PINCKNEYVILLE -- Anita Lewis, 63, of Odenville, Ala., died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, in Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham, Ala. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

MURPHYSBORO -- O. J. Tretter, 85, died at 2:47 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Arrangements are incomplete at Pettett Funeral Home.

Phyllis J. Graves
MARION -- Phyllis J. Graves, 70, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in Richland Place Health Care Center in Nashville, Tenn. She was born April 15, 1933, in West Frankfort, the daughter of Aleck and Della Knuska Dewar. Phyllis was united in marriage to Herman A. Graves Jr. on Nov. 11, 1960, in West Frankfort. Together they shared and enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage until his death on June 23, 1990. She was a faithful and supportive member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion for many years. Following the completion of her education, Phyllis was an elementary school teacher in West Frankfort. When her twins, Kim and Keith, were born, she became a full-time mother and homemaker, enjoying the years of caring for her family and home. She later became a rehabilitation specialist for Intracorp and held this position for several years. In more recent years, she established and operated a custom embroidery business called Personally Yours in Marion. She was active in many community organizations and functions and for years coordinated the Herman Graves Annual Lions Club Children's Christmas Gift Program. Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ed Kleine of Nashville, Tenn.; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Keith and Sarah Graves of Franklin, Tenn.; her five grandchildren, Audrey, Mia and Alex Kleine of Nashville and Hallie and Emily Graves of Franklin; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herman, and one sister, Patricia Ann Dewar. Services for Phyllis J. Graves will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in First United Methodist Church in Marion, with the Rev. Victor Long and Dr. Lynn Hill officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Marion. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today in Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Marion or the American Brain Tumor Association. Memorials may be mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P. O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959.

Randy Hunt
SESSER -- Randy Hunt, 39, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, in Franklin County Hospital in Benton. Services were Saturday in Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights. Burial was in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Hunt was an assistant manager at Moto-Mart in Carterville. He was born Oct. 30, 1963, in Granite City, to Harold and Eva Louise Deadmond Hunt. He was married to Tina Needham Hunt and she survives of Sesser. Other survivors include his mother, Eva Hunt of Granite City; one son, Joshua Gray of Sesser; one daughter, Kara Needham of Sesser; six sisters and five sons-in-law, Sandy and William Minder of Granite City, Cindy and Daniel Gaines of Granite City, Rikki and Mike Kolb of Woodriver, Sherry and Hareley Malloy of Terrell, Texas, Connie and Timothy Spiker of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judith Wright of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his father.

Victoria Kaineg
CARBONDALE -- Victoria "Vicky" Ellen Brewer Kaineg, 56, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Aug. 17, 2003, in her home in Glide, Ore. Born on Aug. 29, 1946, to teachers Kenneth and Anna Mary Brewer, she attended Brown grade school and graduated from University High School. She gained early admittance to Southern Illinois University at the age of 16, where she studied English and Russian and graduated with honors. On Jan. 17, 1970, she married James Raymond Kaineg. They lived in Carbondale until they moved to Tofte, Minn., in 1973, then to Van Buren, Mo., in 1978. The Kaineg family then moved west to the small mountain community of Toketee Falls, Ore., in February 1982. It was at Toketee Falls where Vicky became a kindergarten teacher and her love of children prompted her to start her own daycare center. In 1989 the Kaineg family moved to Glide, Ore., where Vicky continued her thriving daycare center. Through the years, it is estimated that she cared for over 80 children. Vicky had been a member of the Glide School District Budget Committee and enjoyed giving her time to various local fund-raisers and community projects. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, an avid gardener, loved camping, was an excellent softball player and she enjoyed being with her family. She will be missed by her husband, Jim Kaineg of Glide, Ore.; daughters Jamie Kaineg, Melissa Kaineg and Lucia Kaineg of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Alice Manis and Mary Graf; brother, Bill Brewer; uncle, Duane Schroeder; and numerous cousins, in-laws and friends. The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, in Lipe Cemetery in Makanda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Douglas County Cancer Services Committee, P. O. Box 2064, Roseburg, OR 97470.

Virginia R. Vaughn
ANNA -- Virginia R. Vaughn, 83, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at home. She was born March 29, 1920, in Parma, Mo., the daughter of William and Ilean B. Mitchell Hurst. She was married to Floyd E. Vaughn on July 25, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1995. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Vaughn and Jimmy W. and Karen Vaughn, all of Anna; two sisters, Dorothy Thornton of Apopka, Fla., and Frances Davis of Kennett, Mo.; two grandchildren, Doug Vaughn and his fiancee Teresa Wisniewski, and Bradley Vaughn; one stepgranddaughter, Kim Virgo; four step great-grandchildren, Josh Smith, Bridgitte, Sarah and Clayton Virgo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, grandson, Byron Vaughn, three sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the First Christian Church in Anna, the Crab Orchard Boat and Yacht Club, and was retired from Florsheim Shoe Co. in Anna after 32 years. Services for Mrs. Virginia R. Vaughn will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with Gene Crosser officiating. Interment will be in Casper Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Anna or the American Cancer Society. Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.

Claude Eugene Phillips
MARION -- Claude Eugene Phillips, 79, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in his residence with his family at his bedside. He had congestive heart failure and had fought a long battle for a year. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, in Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be held in the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. and sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P. O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Claude was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Marion, to Bill and Opha Ollis Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda Virginia Dunaway. They were married on Sept. 26, 1942, in Jackson, Mo.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandy and Bob Lee of Centralia, Sherry and Danny Buttrum of Murphysboro, and Alice Thetford of Bakersfield, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Marta Phillips of Johnston City; seven grandchildren, Laura Morgan of Centralia, Robert Rowatt of Carterville, Brad Buttrum of Collinsville, Nicki Broeking of Santa Monica, Calif., Mark Buttrum of St. Charles, Mo., Dawn Hancock of Flora and David Phillips of Johnston City; and two great-grandchildren, Megan Meyer and Kassi Morgan, both of Centralia. Claude was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army Air Force. He was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church in Marion, where he was a deacon and for several years, a Sunday school teacher. He retired from Norge after working with them for 30 years.

James Eastwood
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- James Eastwood, 50, of Hattiesburg, Miss., died at 12:47 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at home. He was born May 24, 1953, in Newport, R. I., to Fred and Wilma Berry Eastwood. He was a coal miner and a Vietnam veteran having served in the Marines. Survivors include his father of Grand Rivers, Ky.; two sons, Colin Eastwood of Fort Smith, Ark., and Zachary Eastwood of Laurel, Miss.; one daughter, Nesli Duncan of Stillwater, Okla.; two granddaughters, Savannah Abigail Duncan and Grace-Anne Kelly Duncan; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Joyce Eastwood of Paducah, Ky.; one sister, Necie Eastwood of Carbondale; four nephews, Brent Eastwood of Morgantown, W. Va., Steve Eastwood of Los Angeles, Calif., Freddie Glasser of Carbondale, and Dylan Glasser of Eldorado. Services will be in 3 p.m. today in Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton, Ky., with the Rev. David E. Railey officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans or Mental Health Association.

Kathryn Richardson
GRAND CHAIN -- Kathryn Richardson, 87, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Southgate Care Center in Metropolis. Arrangements are incomplete at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.

Bonnie K. Durham
MURPHYSBORO -- Bonnie K. Durham, 63, passed away at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in the home of her son. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darrell Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Tower Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and until 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Bonnie was born June 17, 1940, in Murphysboro, to Everett McLaughlin and Opal Reynolds McLaughlin Trout. She was the head of Dietary Services at the former Roosevelt Square in Murphysboro. She was a member of the Mount Carbon Church of God, where she had served as church treasurer for many years. She married William "Bill" Durham on Jan. 26, 1961, in Murphysboro, and he survives. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bill Durham Jr. and Linda Durham; four grandchildren, Joshua Durham, Christopher Durham and his wife Amber Durham, Nicholas Durham and Jamilyn Durham; one great-granddaughter, Madison Kay Durham, all of Murphysboro; four nieces and three nephews, Diana Bastien and her husband Randy Bastien of Murphysboro, Kathy Regelbrugge and her husband Tom Regelbrugge of Sandwich, Tina Goodwin and her husband, Brad Godwin of Zeigler, John Scarbrough of Marion, Larry Scarbrough of Naples, Fla., Melinda Elberge, Joe Westenberger and his wife Donna Westenberger of Harrisburg; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Euvada Martin
SHAWNEETOWN -- Euvada Martin, 88, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Wade Halva officiating. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Vickery Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in Euvada's name to Shawneetown Presbyterian Church building fund.

Gerald Lentz
ULLIN -- Gerald E. "Wolf" Lentz, 83, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Jonesboro Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Elco Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Bailey officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church. Crain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Isabell Zablocki
HERRIN -- Isabell Zablocki, 87, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Parkway Manor in Marion. Arrangements are incomplete at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
