Helen (Fisher) Kiestler
ANNA -- Helen (Fisher) Kiestler, 95, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in Holly Hill Nursing Home in Sulphur, La. She was born Aug. 8, 1908, in the community of West Eden, near Cypress. Helen Kiestler was the wife of Ambrose D. Kiestler, and mother of Ambrose F. Kiestler. She is survived by one granddaughter, Kathy Kiestler, and four grandchildren, Anthony, Kristin, Lauren, and Megan Baldassari of Sulphur, La. Helen was a member of the Anna United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the Methodist Women's Organization, and most church functions. She played the piano for the opening services there for many years, and continued her love of music and church by playing for Sunday services at Grand Cove Retirement Home in Sulphur. A private service is planned.

Melvin E. Fritsche
STEELEVILLE -- Melvin E. Fritsche, 74, died at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta. Mr. Fritsche was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Jacob to Arthur and Meta A. (Miesner) Fritsche. He married Carolyn Dierks June 25, 1960, in West Point, and she survives. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Allan Lee and Barbara Fritsche of Hoffman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Nanette and Eric Parker of Godfrey and Connie Renee Fritsche and husband Robert Raftery of Chicago; two grandchildren, Charlee Ann and Darren Allan Fritsche of Hoffman; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Eldean and Otto Svanda of Mount Vernon, Loretta Fritsche of Chandler, Ariz., and Anna Marie Fritsche of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Marge Fritsche of Austin, Texas, Harold and Marilyn Fritsche of Prescott, Ariz., and Robert and Gail Fritsche of Stillwater, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Emma Dierks of Steeleville; four brothers-in-law and their wives, Carl and Beulah Dierks of Ava, Lester and Alma Dierks of Ava, Roy and Nancy Dierks of Percy and Gerald and Nancy Dierks of Caseyville; two sisters-in-law, Florine Liefer of Plano, Texas, and Denise and husband Delbert Ernsting of Percy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Albert Dierks; and one nephew, Michael Fritsche. He was veteran of the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a member of B. B. K. American Legion Post 480, and Teamsters Local in St. Louis. He was the retired owner of Town and Country Florist in Campbell Hill. Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 15, 2003, in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Alan W. Janneke and Vicar Fred Reaman officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in West Point. Visitation was after 5 p.m. Tuesday and will be from 7:30 to 11 a.m. today at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, and from noon to 1 p.m. today at the church. American Legion Services will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran School.

Delilah F. Green
MURPHYSBORO -- Delilah F. Green, 82, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in her residence in Lakeland, Fla. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in IOOF Cemetery in Pinckney- ville, with the Rev. Robin Lyons officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Pettett Funeral Home, Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Delilah was born on April 11, 1921, in Pinckneyville to Carl and Minnie (Borman) Heisler. Mrs. Green had worked in the meat department of Green's IGA in both Murphysboro and Du Quoin. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She married Philip M. Green on April 19, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2000. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon R. Alcorn of Lakeland, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Philip G. and Nancy Green of Murphysboro; four grandchildren, Amy and husband Troy Boyer of Auburn, Aaron and wife Anna Green of Maplewood, Mo., Lt. j. g. Philip T. Alcorn, U. S. Navy, and James S. Alcorn of Lakeland, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Trent Boyer and Taylor Boyer, both of Auburn.

Imogene 'Sis' Fisher
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Imogene "Sis" Fisher, 74, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Sis Fisher was born Nov. 25, 1928, in St. Louis, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel Jones Secrease Hawk. She was united in marriage to Lyle Dean Fisher on Nov. 2, 1946, in Pinckneyville, and he survives. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville, a lifelong resident of Pinckneyville and a homemaker. She is survived by her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Marilyn Fisher of Pinckneyville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lylia and Harold Hagel and June Beth and Lyle Kellerman of Pinckneyville; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph "Zeke" and Hildred Secrease of Pinckneyville; one sister, Sharon "Kay" Cams of Pinckneyville; seven grandchildren, Devin, Alex and Cassie Fisher, Shaysa Edmonds, Dylan Kellerman, Shay Hagel and wife Jennifer, and Jenny Purdy and husband Jeremy; and two great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Austin Hagel. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the First Apostolic Church in Pinckneyville, with the Rev. Jimmy Jenkel and Pastor Leonard Glover officiating. Interment will be in IOOF City Cemetery in Pinckneyville. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today in the church. Memorials may be made to Perry County Health Department.

James Corners
CENTRALIA -- James H. Corners, 72, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Centralia, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Orlando. Arrangements are incomplete at Styninger-Pacey Funeral Home in Centralia.

Margaret Bennett
HERRIN -- Margaret Bennett, 78, of Herrin, died at 1:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Herrin Hospital. Margaret was born on Nov. 6, 1924, in Creal Springs, to James and Leona Lorenz Bayles. She married George R. Bennett on Dec. 19, 1941, in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1988. She was an accountant for many years at the Herrin Security Bank. She earlier worked for Universal Match in the Ordill Area. She enjoyed her family, friends, music and gardening, especially flowers and plants. She was also skilled at making dresses and clothing for dolls. When her husband, George, retired the two of them enjoyed operating a Sno-Cone route in Herrin during the late 70s early 80s. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray and Donna Bennett of Herrin and Darryl Bennett of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Ron Minter of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren, Chris and Ellen Bennett of Jackson, Tenn., Jason and Mindie Bennett of Hendersonville, Tenn., Nathan Bennett of Herrin, Mike and Susie Minter of Keizer, Ore., and Shannon Bennett and Stephanie Trimble of San Jose; four great-grandchildren, Aidan and Ethan Bennett of Jackson and Michael and Rachel Minter of Keizer; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Trapani and Dora and Joe Palmer, all of Herrin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Mathilda Bayles of Creal Springs and James and Sue Bayles of Herrin; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; many cousins; and special friends, Loren Ralls of Herrin, Ruth Smith of Johnston City, Myrtle McCarty and Don and Janet Smith, all of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judith Trimble-Smallman, and one sister, Virginia Smothers. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the OLMC/St. Mary's School Education Foundation or to San Carlo Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Tammy Brown
NEW BURNSIDE -- Tammy Jo Brown, 34, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at home. Private family services will be held following cremation. There will be no visitation. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of arrangements.

Prakash Lamichhane
MOUNT VERNON -- Prakash C. Lamichhane, 48, of Morris, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at home. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Edward Hale officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Fruland Funeral Home in Morris and will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home.

Dorothy Ann Chamberlain
CARTERVILLE -- Dorothy Ann Chamberlain, age 88, of Carterville, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Oak Grove Rehabilitation Center in Carbondale. Services will be at 12:15 pm Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in the Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin, with the Rev. Martin Balder officiating. Dorothy was born on April 13, 1915, in Rochelle, to Elmer and Emily Nerge Batt. She married Alfred Chamberlain on Aug. 22, 1937, in Elgin. He died on May 19, 1985. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Robert and Diane Chamberlain of Kailua-Koa, Hawaii; daughter-in-law, Linda Chamberlain of Carterville; sister-in-law, Esther Batt of Elgin; five grandchildren, John Chamberlain and Allison Chamberlain, both of Carterville, Melissa Lasko of Columbus, Ohio, Vanessa Chamberlain of Chicago, and Christine Chamberlain of Sleepy Hollow; three great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Austin and Christine; and cousin, Kay Schweitzer of Lincoln, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard Chamberlain, and two brothers. Dorothy worked from many years form the Elgin Watch Factory. She was a member of the Elgin Marine Club. She was an avid fisherwomen, who enjoyed fishing for Northern Pike and Walleye. Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.

John Thompson
MARION -- John J. Thompson Jr., 69, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at his residence. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Donald Travelstead officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the funeral home. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by daughters, Jeannie Hanks of Marion, Darlene (Thompson) Westerman, Johnny Thompson, III of Kentucky, Gracy Barnhill of Kentucky, Julie Barnhill of Indiana and Meliea Barnhill of Alabama; grandchildren, Stefan Edmonds, Ken Westerman Jr., Charon Westerman, Cassie and John Thompson, Jessica Jewell, Misty and Jimmy Fishback, Tracey Jackson, Alissa, Jake and Tyler Powell; great grandchildren, Allison, J. C. Baby Stefan, Devon, Austin and Caleb and very special friend Valline. He is preceded in death by his parents and close companion Patsy Roberts. Mr. Thompson touched the hearts of many over the miles and years. He was the "The Candy Man" or "Big John" to all who knew and loved him.

Richard B. 'Rick' Ozment
STONEFORT -- Richard B. "Rick" Ozment, 46, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. He was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Marion, to Richard B. and Zada Miller Ozment. He was a medical technician at Choate Mental Health. Survivors include his parents of Carrier Mills; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jim Kohl of Carbondale; a nephew, Matthew Kohl of Carbondale; grandparents, Irene and John Gowdy of Carrier Mills; aunts and uncles, Frank and Diane Miller, Beth and Ray Watson and John and Melinda Gowdy; and a great-aunt, Winnie B. Ozment of Stonefort. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vivian and Bob Ozment and Gib Miller.

Paul Kennedy
MOUNT VERNON -- Paul D. Kennedy, 35, died at 4:25 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Mount Vernon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legions Post 141. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the S. I. D. S. Foundations and will be accepted at the funeral home and may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P. O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, IL 62864.

Dollie Hall
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Dollie W. Hall, 89, died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in her home. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in St. Bruno Catholic Church Cemetery, with Father David Brown officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Perry County. McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of arrangements.
