MURPHYSBORO -- Clara Jean Keene, 61, died at 5:34 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, in St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Byron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Bradley F. Sigmund
MOUNT VERNON -- Bradley F. Sigmund, 40, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. The body will be cremated. There will be no public services. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Sadler
JONESBORO -- Kenneth D. Sadler, 70, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Arrangements are incomplete at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

REEVESVILLE -- Maria "Marisa" Cachapero, 38, of rural Grantsburg, formerly of Chicago, died at 9:49 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Heartland Regional Medical center. Services will be at 6 p.m. today in Benton Community Church near Reevesville, with Bob Murley officiating. Memorials may be made to Misericordia Residential Home, 6300 North Ridge, Chicago, IL 60660. Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Lyles
CARRIER MILLS -- Evelyn Lyles, 74, of Danville, formerly of Carrier Mills, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in her home. She is survived by her husband, Hayward Lyles. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Apostolic Church of God in Harrisburg. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Felty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Becky Dixon
MOUNT VERNON -- Becky Sue Dixon, 48, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in the home of her brother in Peoria. Arrangements are incomplete at Newell Funeral Home.

Fred 'Ted' H. Boucher
GORHAM -- Fred "Ted" H. Boucher, 75, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in his residence. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Peggy Camp officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory with military services conducted by the American Legion Post 127, VFW Post 7190 and 2605, and the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Tri-County Special Education in Murphysboro. Mr. Boucher was born on May 23, 1928, in Grimsby to J. P. and Lillie (Ticer) Boucher. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Ted retired from the Kinkaid Creek Conservancy District Water Plant. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Murphysboro and the Loyal Builders Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 127, VFW Post 7190, and the Moose Lodge. He married Alma Butler on May 27, 1950, in Murphysboro, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter and her boyfriend, Jeanne Ellis and Joe Dzeima of Gorham; one daughter-in-law and her boyfriend, Debbie Boucher and Gordon Smith of Gorham; eight grandchildren, Jordan Ellis, Jessica Ellis, Gary Lee Boucher, all of Gorham, Andrea and husband Jonathan Hall of Bartow, Fla., Jared Boucher Howard and wife Amy Howard of Lakeland, Fla., Darrin Boucher Howard of Homeland, Fla., Amy Boucher of Arizona, and Freddie Boucher Owens of Murphysboro; three great-grandchildren Haley Marie Holder Boucher of Gorham, Taylor Marie Hall of Bartow, Fla., and Dalton Wade Owens of Murphysboro.; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Zidania Boucher of Murphysboro; two sisters, Dorothy Mifflin and Bernadine Ihle, both of Murphysboro; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Boucher and Freddie Boucher; and his parents.

Roger R. Hiller
CHRISTOPHER -- Roger R. Hiller, 53, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Miner Cemetery in Royalton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Hiller was a truck driver for Star Company. He was a member of First Christian Church in Christopher. He was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Mulkeytown to Archie and Doris (Rogers) Hiller. He married Pamela Holley on June 20, 1992, in Buckner, and she survives. Other survivors include two children, Bryan Hiller and Jennifer Hiller, both of Christopher; five step-children, Tina, Eric, Tony, Nicole and Brandy; one grandchild, Dillon Hiller; ten step-grandchildren, Shea, Krista, Eric, Kiyanna, Dajya, Tanisha, Donald, Bradley, Kennith and Kaylea; and one brother, Kevin Bryan Hiller of Mulkeytown. He was preceded in death by one sister, Verlee Hiller; and one granddaughter, Brooklyn Dawn Raysby.

Otis Spears
ULLIN -- Otis E. Spears, 74, died Monday, Oct. 13, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Massie Funeral Home in Cairo.

Homer Matthew Bagby
CARBONDALE -- Homer Matthew "Speed" Bagby, 81, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Oak Grove Rehab Center, Carbondale. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, with the Rev. John Annable officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro. military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 127. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 805 E. DeYoung, Suite B, Marion, IL 62959; Disabled Veterans National Headquarters, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 42520, or the Salvation Army, 10 West Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016 and will be accepted by the funeral home. Homer was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Mounds, to Burton and Ella Mae (Elkins) Bagby. He married Sue Heern on May 26, 1979, in Carbondale. Survivors include his wife, Sue Bagby of Carbondale; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Hal Bishop and Nina Bagby-Bishop of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tina Guard of Peoria, Lisa and Jim Oyler of Winter Park, Fla. and Melinda and Phil Randall of Casselberry, Fla.; two stepsons and their wives, Ron and Janet Heern of Murphysboro and Kendal and Lisa Smith of Santa Fe, N. M.; one stepdaughter, Debbie Robinson of Mobile, Ala.; mother-in-law, Ruth Reiman of Carbondale; 26 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a special neighbor and friend, Pat; and his four-legged friend, Maggie, the Dachshund. Homer is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and one brother. Homer was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He then served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a Navigator and Bomber during World War II, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received a Purple Heart after being shot down over the English Channel. He also received numerous other medals and honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was a former 32nd degree Mason. Homer was a self-employed salesman with many hobbies and interests including listening to Frank Sinatra, golf, flying, eating out, bargain shopping, and politics as a life-long Republican. He was an avid Chrysler enthusiast and a history buff. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Mary Fergus
MARION -- Mary Louise Fergus, 86, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Mary was born Jan. 24, 1917, to James and Agnes (Ray) Whiting in Jackson County. She married George L. Fergus Sr. on Feb. 8, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1974. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion. Survivors include one son, George L. Fergus Jr. of Lancaster, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Michael R. Wiseman of Marion; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Fallon of Marion; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband; one son, Donald Fergus; one grandson, George Michael Wiseman; four brothers and one sister. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, with the Rev. Tim Lusitana officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.

Mildred Lois Mifflin
CHRISTOPHER -- Mildred Lois Mifflin, 75, of Carlinville, formerly of the Christopher area, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Heritage Manor in Carlinville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gilbert Funeral Home, with Dan Williams and Kirk Packer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Valier. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was a retired business owner. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sesser. She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Royalton to Theodore Humphrey and Stella Viernum. She married Vernon Eugene Mifflin. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1946. Survivors include two children and their spouses, Cheryl and Bob Guzik of Fort Worth, Texas, and Patricia and Sam Stile of Chatham; special friend, Don Wiley of Warsaw, Ind.; five grandchildren, Samantha and husband Steve Ledbetter of Rockwall, Texas, Amy Guzik of Florence, Ala., Rebekah Stiles of Portland, Ore., Ensign Abigail Stiles, U. S. Navy, of Youkouska, Japan, and Emily Stiles of Chicago; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, June and Bob Beavers of Sesser, Aileen and Carl McNeal of Zeigler, Evelyn and Larry Domineck of Royalton and Helen Flatt of Benton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ward and Ellen Overturf; and three brothers, Curtis, Warren and Franklin Humphrey.

Melvin E. Fritsche
STEELEVILLE -- Melvin E. Fritsche, 74, died at 7:48 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta. Mr. Fritsche was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Jacob to Arthur and Meta A. (Miesner) Fritsche. He married Carolyn Dierks June 25, 1960, in West Point, Ill., and she survives. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Allan Lee and Barbara Fritsche of Hoffman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Nanette and Eric Parker of Godfrey and Connie Renne Fritsche and husband Robert Raftery of Chicago; two grandchildren, Charlee Ann and Darren Allan Fritsche of Hoffman; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Eldean and Otto Svanda of Mount Vernon, Loretta Fritsche of Chandler, Ariz., and Anna Marie Fritsche of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Marge Fritsche of Austin, Texas, Harold and Marilyn Fritsche of Prescott, Ariz., and Robert and Gail Fritsche of Stillwater, Okla.; his mother-in-law, Emma Dierks of Steeleville; four brothers-in-lawand their wives, Carl and Beulah Dierks of Ava, Lester and Alma Dierks of Ava, Roy and Nancy Dierks of Percy and Gerald and Nancy Dierks of Caseyville; two sisters-in-law, Florine Liefer of Plano, Texas, and Demise and husband Delbert Ernsting of Percy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Albert Dierks; and one nephew, Michael Fritsche. He was veteran of the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a member of BAIX American Legion Post 480, and Teamsters Local in St. Louis. He was the retired owner of Town and Country Florist in Campbell Hill. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Alan W. Janneke and Vicar Fred Reaman officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in West Point. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. American Legion Services will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran School.

Martin McDonald
CARRIER MILLS -- Martin L. "Marty" McDonald, 53, died at 6:38 a.m. Saturday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to McDonald Education Fund for his sons.

Albert Nitzsche
EVANSVILLE -- Albert W. Nitzsche, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Monroe County Nursing Home in Waterloo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. John J. Joyce officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 8 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Evansville. Memorials may be made to masses or to St. Boniface Improvement Fund.

Mary Brosch
DU QUOIN -- Mary Elizabeth "Lea" Brosch, 83, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at home. Per Mrs. Brosch's request there will be no visitation or service with cremation service being held. The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Christian Fellowship Church of Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
